1ARTICLE SUMMARY
“Culture, Organizational Culture, and Organizational Climate: An Integrative
Approach” is a research that has been conducted for the purpose of finding out a link between
the variables that would be able to establish a strong relation between the three concepts (Ng
& Ng 2014). The research conducts an extensive literature review for this purpose, and makes
sure that the main points and variables are well listed and connected all throughout for the
purpose of making sure that the main objective of the research is fulfilled. The researchers
suggest in the introduction itself that since organizational culture research has its roots in
culture research, it is possible to conduct a research that focuses on organizational culture,
organizational climate, and culture simultaneously.
The literature review in the research starts off with the definition of the root concept,
which is culture, and identifies the definition as being values, norms and beliefs that are
adhered to by a society due to their common experiences. It is for this reason why the main
thing that has to be done is to make sure that this definition is adhered to and applied to the
other concepts that are to be investigated in this research.
Moving on to investigating the variables of organizational culture, the researchers find
out that the main thing that has to be noted in this regard is the fact that although there had
been a significant number of studies done on the topic, systematic and proper studies on the
topic did not take place before the 1930’s, and also finds out that due to the varying
interpretations and results that arose from the various research, there has been no definite
example of the concept, apart from the fact that it could only be linked to the definition of
culture itself, in which, various people, hailing from various backgrounds, come together with
their own native values, norms and beliefs to form the collective culture of the organization
as a whole.

2ARTICLE SUMMARY
Moving on to the next concept of the research, the researchers find that just like
organizational culture, organizational climate does not have a proper definition either, which
could be agreed upon by most of the organizational climate researchers. However, Hofstede
cited an example in 1998, in which he describes organizational climate as being a set of
measurable properties of the work environment that are perceived by the workers in the
organization to influence their behaviour and motivation. The researchers believe that the
reason why this concept has had no definite understanding or explanation throughout
numerous studies over the years is because of the fact that the concept has too many variables
and concepts attached to it.
The researchers finally suggest that the main thing that has to be done is to get proper
and vivid insights into the three concepts simultaneously is to make sure that the variables of
the three concepts are gathered via survey, using separate questions to get valid data, and also
to analyse the data using multi-level analysis model.
