success of the business organization (Ashkenas et al. 2015). A number of different theories are
available in this particular regards. Scientific Leadership is one of the most used term in this
particular regards and is related to the conduction of efficient jobs by keeping a focus on the
objectives of the business organization. According to the particular theory, the employees of the
organization must use the optimum method for the completion of a job or within a scheduled
time. The employees are trained in the particular manner and thus can easily manage through the
professional planning. Another major theory is termed as the OB theory. The particular theory
was developed by a group of Harvard researchers (Barry and Wilkinson 2016). The human
relation approach in the Organizational theory makes it more unique and efficient. The theory
highlights on the importance of the relationship in between the employees. The human norms are
said to be highly significant for the performance of the organization in a proper and efficient
manner. There have been some arguments against the use of the OB model in the business. Most
of the experts highlighted the importance of a personalized care for the individual employees for
the development of a great organizational culture and behavior (Wilson 2017). The employees on
the other hand, can be divided into a number of groups in order to motivate them easily.
Implementation of the Theory in Woolworths
The annual report of the company reports that around 30000 employees are currently
working for Woolworths. The management of this huge amount of workforce is not so easy.
Therefore the management of the workforce and the operations of the business activities have
been considered to be the most important work for the management of Woolworths
(woolworths.com.au 2019). With more than 800 different stores in Australia, the company is no
doubt a strong retail force of the country (woolworths.com.au 2019). The company has a distinct
hierarchy present which helps to manage the organization in a proper and efficient manner. The
hierarchy promotes the head of the center to the topmost level of the management. There are a
total of two managers in the different stores of the company who are directly responsible for the
stocks of the organization. Apart from the controlling of the stock, the managers are also
responsible for the scheduling of the activities of the employees and also to adjust any financial
activities. According to, Wilson (2018) the next level of the hierarchy is comprised of the full
time employees while the last and the lowest level of the hierarchy comprises of the part time
employees of the business organization. The current issue relates to the organizational behavior

of the employees. It is believed that employee hierarchy is the main hurdle for the smooth
execution of the organizational behavior. The strategy mostly focuses on the development of the
production and performance of the employees. The less focus on motivational area is a major
problem for this particular organizational behavior (Schramm-Klein et al. 2016). Apart from this
the absence of any proper and effective communication from the part of the higher level
management with the lower level management of the organization is another major setback for
the following organizational theory.
Requirements and Challenges in the theory
The employees of Woolworths have much lower level of motivation regarding the job
responsibilities and the economic profit. The absence of any kind of proper and efficient future
growth for the business organization is one of the major reasons for the low turnover of
employees in the organization. The presence of a large number of employees belonging to the
low level hierarchy of the organization makes the company even more vulnerable in the absence
of a proper communication method. The presence of a proper and effective communication
method can help to promote motivation among the employees of the organization. The
motivation and management of the employees is one of the biggest challenges to the business
organization. The management of the organization is unable to understand the requirements of
the people due to the hierarchical management (Saintilan and Schreiber 2017). The management
of the organization must have the idea to develop a motivated and trained workforce. They
should understand the motivational factors of these employees and develop a motivated
workforce for providing better customer service. It has been found that the de-motivated
workforce have provided low quality services which has hampered the image of the organization.
In these type of issues, the management simply throughout the employees. This is affecting the
other employees and the overall OB negatively (King and Lawley 2016). The organization
should look into these matters and develop a good OB strategy for managing these issues.
Revised Organizational Behavior Strategy Plan
It is utmost important for the management of the business organizations to be supportive
and develop an organizational structure to manage the individual workforce through the
recognition of the individual needs of the workplace (Coccia 2018). The management of the
organization can use the Maslow’s theory of hierarchy to evaluate the efficiency of the

career of the employee and the managerial authorities. The motivation of the employees can be
completed by means of providing them with monetary support and other benefits that will be
helpful to motivate them and perform in a much better way (King and Lawley 2016). The
McClelland’s theory is very much useful to determine the willingness of an employee during
working and the efficiency of the organization will automatically turn into a successful personal
career for the employee.
