Identify and describe the situation or problem
Communication is described as the act of relaying and receiving of information between two
people i.e. the sender and the receiver. Organization communication on the other refers to the
sending and receiving of messages between interrelated individuals in a specific setting or
environment to either achieve personal or individual goals. In any communication there exist
barriers that affect flow of communication between two entities. This paper therefore seeks to
identify some of the communication conflicts that arise in an organization and how to resolve
this conflicts ((Mumby, 2012).
Develop alternatives and test the “reality” of possible solutions
Some of the communication conflicts that arise within organization include vertical conflicts,
horizontal conflicts, role conflicts and line staff conflicts. Resolution of conflicts involves
solving conflicts instead of limiting their duration. This can be achieved through the following
strategies: Strategy negotiation, superior goal strategy and intervention of third party strategy
(May, 2013).

Propose solutions and suggest implementation plans
There are five theoretical approaches to conflict resolution, which include, Classical, human
resources, cultural, human relations and system approaches (May, 2013). The five approaches

management.
