What is organizational behavior?
Organizational behavior refers to the studies that are conducted on the organization as
well as the human behavior within the various settings within the organization. The study of the
existing interface that is found to be existing between the concerned organization and the
behavior depicted by the humans who have been serving the organization as a part of the
workforce of the organization (Lawrence & Lee, 2013). The research in the fields of the
organizational behavior might be classified into three different manners that might include the
studies that are related to the microlevel studies that are related to the workforce of the concerned
organizations, the meso-level studies that might include the various work groups that are existent
within the organization and the macro-level studies that are inclusive of the ways in which the
organizations might behave at a certain given point of time. The major goal of the organizational
behavior is to develop a better concept of the life in the organizations thereby revitalizing the
organizational theories.

What makes up an organization's culture?
The organizational culture is a system that consists of shared assumptions, beliefs and
values that help in the governance of the behavior of the concerned members of the workforce of
the organization. The various shared values of the organization might influence the people who
have been serving the organization in a very strong manner (Scott et al., 2018). The culture
maintained within the organization might have an influence over the ways in which the
concerned employees might act, dressing styles. The performance of the concerned members of

the workforce of the organization might also be dependent on the matters that are related to the
culture that is maintained within the concerned organization. The culture of an organization is
known to be influenced heavily by the founders, the executives and the managerial staff of the
organization due to the decision-making roles and the strategic direction that they provide to the
concerned organization.

What is the significance of the Hawthorne studies to the study of organizational behavior?
The Hawthorne studies had been developed as a part of the movement that is related to
the human relations within the management of the organization. The Hawthorne studies aimed at
the identification of the strengths and the competencies among the various workers that are
related to the improvement in the managing, the measuring, the development and the
enhancement of the capabilities of the various employees of the concerned organization
(Borkowski, 2015). The Hawthorne studies further put forth the fact that the employees of the
concern might be motivated by a huge number of the factors excepting those that pertain to the
personal financial gains of the concerned employees of the organization. The Hawthorne studies
further states that the employees might be motivated better if they are allowed to work together
as teams within the organization that might help in the improvement of the overall performance
of the company.

The findings of the Hawthorne Studies might be compared and contrasted to the various
studies that pertain to the theories of organizational behavior. These might include the studies
that pertain to the theories of behavior of the human relations that exist within the concerned
organization as well as the theories that pertain to the concept of servant leadership that is
existent within the concerned organization. The behavioral theory pertaining to the human
relations within the concerned society state that the empowerment of the employees helps in
providing the necessary motivation to the concerned employees of the organization (Neff, 2017).
The servant leadership theory on the other hand refers to the process of viewing the various job
processes from the point of view of the employees of the organization (Parris & Peachey, 2013).
This might help the leaders in providing the necessary resources to the concerned employees so
that they might complete the assigned job roles in a smooth manner.
