Organizational and Structural Discrimination
In the contemporary world, where equality is promoted all around, there are still some
areas in which biasing and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, color, religion or nationality
limits the advantages and the opportunities of an individual. There are numerous occasions in
which the help and assistance has been denied to a specific group of people. There are numerous
ways of letting people know that they are unwanted and they can be divided into five sub-
categories which are, verbal expressions, exclusion, ignorance or avoidance physical abuses and
lastly the extermination. The basis on which the discrimination is done lowers sown ones esteem
and leads a person to be an introvert.
This discussion is regarding the fact whether the gay community is facing social
discrimination in the contemporary world.
The term structural and organizational discrimination is used such that the legitimate
people with proper value in the society are kept away from the opportunities (Shires, Deirdre and
Kim, p.1506). The organizational discrimination is used to describe the situation of n individual
where they are cornered or left alone in the entire organization based upon the fact that they are
gay! In the past few years, the rules and regulations regarding the gay people have improved,
which has helped them in benefiting n the field of their work.
In the article, LGBT discrimination research report, by the Calleja, Grech, Lepre,
Knight and Naudi it is explained in detail how the lesbian and the gay community is treated
badly and discriminated in the society. In an interview, one of the members of the community
said that it often seen that the job opportunities for them decreases, which is an extremely sad
truth of the present world (Calleja et al., p. 13). If a gay person applies for the changes in the

name or identity, the documents provided by them are often misused. All though there are
punishments available for these crimes, the discrimination based on sexual preference of an
individual must be signed under the privacy and that will help in prevention of the third party
access to the system without proper permission. This is an extreme form of structural or
organizational discrimination, as these kinds of act leads to verbal abuse to the individual and in
some cases they are brutally beaten up for the kind of attitude they show.
Hence from the article and our discussion we can conclude that no matter how the world
in making advancement towards technology the community based structural discrimination is
prevailing in the society and has to be stopped in order enhance equality amongst the people.
