2ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND DECISION MAKING
Introduction
ModMeters is a manufacturing organization that mostly produces metering
components for their customers all around the world. There has been a steady growth in the
business and the expertise of the organization over manufacturing metering devices has been
extremely impacting over the last century on the customers throughout the globe (McKeen &
Smith, 2015). There have been two ideas that have been proposed at the meeting for the
executives; one is to globally expand the organization and its meter assembly plants in Asia
and Eastern Europe and the other is to implement IT infrastructure into the organization.
Where the first one was easier to implement, the other strategy was rather difficult because of
the prevailing systems in the organization and issues in funding. Now, following would be
the development of the IT planning process for ModMeters so that the business demands can
be met.
Brief of the Case Study
The organization ModMeters is regarded as one of the most popular organizations in
the manufacturing of Metering components which has customers all around the world.
ModMeters also wants to implement it strategic plan within the organisation but there has
been several challenges. The two strategies that the CEO has proposed to the CIO of the
organisation seems to be one of the most important decisions that the organisation should
take but it also has several challenges for implementation including the inclusion of IT
strategy (McKeen & Smith, 2015). This is because there are several areas that the
organisation believes to invest money on but when it comes to extending system the company
does not invest much money. This is a problem and the organisation seems to be falling
behind being limited in implementation of Information Technology Services to the company.

3ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND DECISION MAKING
The need of the organisation to continue being and its Prime position they need to implement
the IT strategy but the budget has been stringent.
Issues in the business
There are several problems in the business and one of them has been the IT budget.
Some of the executives in the organisation are of the belief that till now the IT budget has
been limited, but it has provided the organisation with what it actually needs. Sofa the past
battles that the organisation had to fight did not need a new strategy to invest upon. This is
why I would sum of money was invested in other areas, especially manufacturing, which
consisted about 50% of the total budget. However, the form of manufacturing procedure that
was followed in the organisation used up too much money e as there were several
manufacturing waste produced and resources used up to be turning to waste products. This
issues debarring the investors to think about more investment for the IT strategic planning
and therefore the organisation was in the necessity to develop an IT planning process for the
organisation accomplishing the business demands and also working in a stringent budget.
Developing the IT planning process for ModMeters for accomplishing the
business demands
Before implementation of an IT planning process, the organisation needs to you have
a strategic planning to accomplish in the business demands. This can be done with the
following steps:
Firstly the so need to clearly communicate that business objective to drive the
values and vision of the company in developing the IT planning process (Hitt
et al., 2017).

4ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND DECISION MAKING
Then the executive should make some goals that the company needs to
achieve. They should decide the responsibility of each employee that would
impact to the successful implementation of IT planning process.
They should create a focus show that every department in the organisation can
understand the need to achieve in order to fulfil the business demands of IT
planning process (Hitt et al., 2017).
They need to divide department wise and individual goals and track the
progress.
The next implementation plan would be about the IT strategy and how to implement it
into the scenario of the organisation:
Firstly it is required to understand the system that is needed within the
organisation. Since it is the manufacturing organisation, it is required that
digitally enhance planning for integration of the departments and even the
digitisation of manufacturing department is needed (Andrews, Beynon &
Genc, 2017).
The manufacturing department would result into reducing waste and use of so
much of the resources (Musawir et al., 2017). The resources can thus be used
for the purpose of IT strategic planning.
The next step is to understand the financial perspective and the customer
perspective also. The widespread nature of the organisation easily enunciates
that the customers are a priority from where the maximum revenue is gathered
(Obeidat, Al-Hadidi & Tarhini, 2017). Therefore it should be kept in mind that
the IT strategy planning does not hamper the manufacturing procedure or any
other department in the organisation.

Conclusion
Therefore, in conclusion, it can be said that Mod metres wanted to implement the IT
strategy but at low cost, for adjusting the budget. This is why it was recommended that it
understand how much money each of the department used and how the department that used
up most money, that is the manufacturing department, can reduce its cost and make sure that
this money e can be implemented for the IT strategic planning. Reducing waste and using the
resources for other enhancing implementations is what the IT strategic planning is looking
forward to.
