Q1. One leadership style needs to be chosen over others because each style would have a
different impact on the employees. As a project manager, the reward power seems
appropriate in case of the present scenario. In the Reward style leadership, a reward structure
is made by the leader which would motivate the workers to reach a certain target to achieve
the reward. The company is discussion is trying to shift to more environmental friendly ways
of business which is causing a huge change in the basic systems and therefore requires the
workers to be motivated enough to prevent the company from falling into huge losses.
Q.2 There are about five different types of leadership styles, and for this particular project
team, using the reward structure of leadership would be quite beneficial. In a circumstance
where massive changes are taking place in the company, the quality of services and
efficiency is bound to falter. However, designing an adequate reward mechanism would keep
the workers constantly motivated as they would know that excelling and achieving the targets
required would provide them with fruitful benefits. Also being the expert leader with an
experience of the core tusks, in such a scenario would be great as the employees will be able
to relate more with their team leaders and work harder for the betterment of the company.
Giving the employees a hint about the leader’s good relationship with the business head
would also motivate the employees more as they would see him as the role model and would
want to follow his footsteps.
Q3. Influencing the project team would require the referent style of power because, once
the employees understands that the leader has great connections with the higher order people
of the organization, they would want to work harder to be like the leader. Motivating the team
would require the expert power style of leadership in which the leader has had core
knowledge about the tasks the employees are doing as he/she was at their position too at
some point of time. This way the employees will be motivated to work hard and achieve the

success as their leader has achieved. The success of the project would be impacted
successfully by incorporating the reward power style of leadership.
Q4. The reward power of leadership allows the leader to motivate the employees in their
work by fulfilling their needs. This leadership style also helps the leader to provide job
satisfaction to the employees by meeting their basic needs.
Q5. In order to alleviate the challenges, the following steps as a manager will be required
to be taken-
The essential IT upgrade will be done, which would improve the productivity as the
loss of sales would reduce, supply chain would become more efficient, cost would be
brought down as the company evolves
Disruptions between employees will be minimized.
Opportunity for better training of the employees will be improved.
