INTRODUCTION
Organisation is a term that demonstrates an organised group of individuals that work for a
particular purpose by coordination between leadership and management. Leadership is an art that
works as an effective tool which motivates a group of individuals towards accomplishment of
common objectives and goal. Similarly, management refers to make better bringing
communication among all activities that is leading company for achieving goals within specified
time period. In the present scenario, all the business houses and individuals are working at global
level with implementing right skills and capabilities according to international level. According
to Dr. Ali Algahtani, 2014. Leadership and management both are different terms in which
management work to plan, organise and delegate the work for performing them as per decided
strategy (Anderson, Ellwood and Coleman, 2017). On the other side, leadership is used to inspire
and motivate individuals to perform work with implement of best ability. Academic Theories are
formulate for explaining, understanding and predicting better results by understanding all
situations that relates with development programs and leadership. Leadership development
programs play an important role for the organisational workers and employees that assist to
increase employee capability for performing organisational task in proper manner. In context of
academic theory it impacts on learning programs because it relates with theoretical aspects while
organisational task are implemented with practical approach. Moreover, this report is written
from perspective of NHS leadership academy that evaluates leadership development programs. It
also highlights on the concept of leadership and management that demonstrates types of
leadership theories. The main motive to make this report is to develop the NHS development
programs by review of the leadership and management literature. It is also used by management
for evaluating development programme of leadership that is based on the various literatures
which are related with business management and leadership.
Leadership and management theories
Leadership is about generating long term results by comprehend and believe all persons to
accomplish organisational vision by motivating all individuals to perform work with more
efficiency (Bolden, 2016). Whereas, management refers to generate administering and making
sure that all activities are performed in organised and sequential manner. All operations and
functions which are completed by management of organisational and educational institutes are

depend on different concepts of leadership and management. According to Warren Bennis, 2015,
leaders perform an essential role in the organisation by considering and managing task for all
employees. Example- Leaders and top authorities help management to formulate and decide right
strategy that assist to deal with current challenges and issue. Along with this there are various
task and operations are performed by management such to develop and decide strategy for
performing organisational work in proper manner (Bolden, Gosling and O'Brien, 2014).
Concepts of the leadership define what services and products are offered by management. It also
undertakes methods and processes that is used to conduct business and complete of
organisational work.
Roles and relationship- Roles are the positions that are defined by an organisation to engage
individuals that defined them to perform organisational work as per decided organisational
behaviour. In the context of NHS leadership academy organisation is performing their work to
develop and maintain simple and great leadership development programs that improves
behaviour, skills and capabilities of employees. Culture and climate are two another forces that
distinct how to act in an organisation. Each organisation follows a different culture that works as
the combination of past and current leadership that defines events and manage all work as per
routines and rituals which are followed by company and implement in organisational operations
and functions.
According to Robert L. 2018, management defines as the process or art that leads management to
accomplish organisational goals by the help of others. There are various operations and task are
performed by management that is leading company to get achieve goals with more efficiency and

aspects of management concept. Effectiveness is also concerned with end result that basically
helps the organisation for complete their work with in proper manner by completing all activities

Theories of leadership- Transactional leadership is a style of leadership by which leaders
promotes compliance by different followers by completing work through influencing individuals
to perform their work in different manner. There are two different methods are utilised by leaders
which is rewards and punishment that leads transactional leaders to motivated them for a shorter

programs are managed by organisation with implement of right leadership and management
theories. Most of the educational institutions and global organisation are performing their work
at international level so it is mandatory to implement right leadership theory that leads
individuals to complete all task and operations as per stated objectives and goals (Declercq,
Fossorier and Biglieri, 2014). From the perspective of NHS leadership academy the purpose of
organisation is to work with all partners that delivers excellent leadership across all over the
world. The main purpose of NHS is to increase skill and capabilities of employees and programs
with direct approach. With the dynamic environment in among all over the organisation and
there changes it is mandatory for management to lead and develop positive program that consists
of generating better outcomes and experience which care better results. From the last several
research that are formed at the international level it is identified that global leadership determines
the real problem which is perceived with good quality of leaders. But specifically it also
determines some actual problems that most of the individuals thought that leaders are born
whereas, leaders are those individuals who learn skills and practice them on regular basis for
accomplishing organisational goals in decided time period. Further, the research also show that
there are various differences is considered in report that defines often transactional leadership is
compared with transformational leadership but they both are different from each other. In the
context of transactional leadership it is depend on self-motivated individuals that works in a
well-structured manner and generates a better environment in organisation. Moreover,
transactional leadership focuses on the results that conforms there are various structure are
followed by organisation that leads to complete all work as per organisation strategy. In the
context of NHS leadership academy transactional leadership concern that management focuses
on leadership and management efforts that show system of rewards and penalties. This refers that
transactional leaders holds the formal rights and authority to perform all work as per
organisational goals (Diánez-González and Camelo-Ordaz, 2016). Moreover, this types of
leaders are responsible to maintain routine through managing individual performance and also
facilitating group performance of organisation. Moreover, this type of leaders also decides and
set the criteria for the workers according to the decided requirements for the organisation.

assumption which demonstrate that leaders are born and due to this belief it is possess that there
are various qualities and traits relates with leadership which also identify various behavioural
characteristic that are followed by all types of leadership (Fought and Misawa, 2016). Further, it
is an early assumption which show and belief that leaders are only born. From the perspective of
academic theory trait theory is first theory of leadership that attempt to make good leaders.

identifies parallel talent, characteristic and leaders who demonstrate similar power in
organisational goals. After identify of all traits it is compare with potential leaders and success.

overall business as well. Through this program all the working personnel get assistance so as to
tackle the team and to take maximum output which is advantageous for the company.
