Managers contribute to the strategic and operational planning through engagement,
communication, innovation, consultation, and collaboration. A successful strategic and
operational plan entails proper decision making in terms of goals, finances, workforces,
technology, and the duration (Stanleigh, 2015). To achieve the strategic and operational
objectives of an organization, managers engage employees across all levels to gather their ideas,
concerns, opinions, and suggestions and consider them in decision making.
In addition, managers communicate the progress of an organization towards achieving its
strategic and operational plans to the stakeholders of the firm. Also, managers contribute to
organizations’ strategic planning through provision of the right resources to the employees to
encourage innovation (Stanleigh, 2015). Last is active collaboration and consultation with other
departmental heads before implementing any strategy to ensure feasibility.
Describe what an organizational chart is and provide a written example of how an
organizational chart could be used within an organization. Explain how organizational charts
can benefit managers.
An organization chart refers to a diagrammatic representation that shows hierarchy and
structure of leadership in an organization (John, 2018). An org chart shows people the intended
structure of an organization. For example, an org chart of a banking organization; lead by the
chief executive officer, followed by a branch manager who reports to the CEO, followed by
operations manager, followed by HR, Finance, and IT managers, followed by team leaders, and
least the subordinates staff.

Organizational charts benefit managers in many ways such as improved communication
lines, clarity of responsibility and reporting relationships, management of change and growth,
and in the understanding of employee directory (Pinder, 2014).
Describe the four dimensions that are measured in a balanced scorecard (BSC). Explain what
purposes a BSC can serve for a manager.
According to (Rohit, 2016), a balanced scorecard (BSC) measures the customer,
innovation, financial, and internal processes dimensions. The financial perspective of a BSC
measures sales growth, operating income, admin expenses reduction, and cash flow from
operations. The customer dimension measures customer satisfaction, market share, customer
attraction and retention, order time, and on-time product delivery. Internal processes BSC
measure lead time, defect rate, material turnover, number of suppliers, and practical capacity
percentage (Stanleigh, 2015). Last is the innovation dimension where BSC measures employee
retention, worker satisfaction, patent numbers, cost of employee training, and new product sales.
A BSC helps managers in the identification of poor performing areas in in coming with
viable strategies for improving internal operations and increasing external outcomes (Pinder,
2014). Also, a BSC helps managers in acquiring the right feedback relevant to the organization.
