1SELF REFLECTIVE ASSIGNMENT
The most important quality that I could utilize in this particular assignment was the
strong research skills and also the quality of being able to relate the knowledge of organizational
structure of corporate firms to this particular case study. Hence I was able to contribute to this
whole group assignment in a small but significant way. The organization structure of a firm is
the layout or framework of the different hierarchical positions or layers of any corporate
organization (Coppin 2017). Thus it is very crucial for any firm. In this respect it is important to
note that it is the organization structure that helps in understanding the different levels of
responsibility and accountability that helps in smooth and efficient functioning of the
organization (Fernandes, Ward and Araújo 2015). It also helps the employees and the aspiring
employees to know the different levels of reporting and provides a clear picture of the amount of
productivity and accountability that is required and demanded by the organization at the different
levels. Further, in the absence of the organization structure the flexibility and easy growth and
development of the firm is hampered (North and Kumta 2018). In this case too, the need of
knowing the organization structure for Sony was crucial and important with respect to this fact.
Like any other research, the background study and research for this case study was also
difficult and challenging as it included a lot of searching and including data that was both
authentic and relevant to the study (Rowlinson, Hassard and Decker 2014). Further, there are a
lot of websites that may provide incorrect information and hence lead to misconceptions or
incorrect estimation of the approximated results. Also, the matters of ethical compliance were to
be adhered to and maintained while extracting and using information of another company (Board
2014). The other challenges faced were finding out relevant data from the company’s website as
most of the information is unavailable and the privacy of the firm was also to be maintained.

2SELF REFLECTIVE ASSIGNMENT
The major learning for all of us was having patience in finding out the correct set of
information and using the correct strategies to find out this information ((Rowlinson, Hassard
and Decker 2014). As a group we have learnt how to distribute the entire work and divide the
responsibilities so that the work can be completed at a fastened pace and also with precision and
accuracy. As a group we have learnt how to connect different parts of the study to make a full
and complete research assignment such that there is a proper flow and the presentation does not
look abrupt and disconnected. As the results were derived at with the contribution of all of us,
and each of had different responsibilities, we understood the importance of the individual
responsibilities and how accountability is very important for the performance of the entire group.
The major part of learning for me particularly was the part that I worked on and contributed. It
gave me a lot of insight on the importance of the structure of any organization. I also felt more
confident about our whole assignment when I gained knowledge about the parts that were
worked on by the other members in my group. Another important learning for me was the
concept of management of time which I realized is very important while working together. The
distribution of work among all of us helped in completing the work at a fastened pace and in a
much shorter time as compared to the time that would be taken if I or any one of us would have
to complete the work on our own.
My understanding of the topic as a whole and especially the part of the research that I
contributed has both changed and increased as a whole. I only understood the concept of
organization in a very small and unclear way. Helping out my group with this part has made me
realize and understand the importance and impact of the organization structure in the corporate
sector. It has also increased my overall knowledge and insight of the workings of Sony as a
company. The challenges faced by the firm, the path of growth of the firm and the internal

structuring that helps and determines functioning of the firm have all become a lot more clear
now. As an individual I have also learnt the process and procedure involved in research and
finding out information relevant and important to the completion of market research. I have in
fact developed more interest and affinity towards research about different organizations and
companies that have been operating for a long time now and have also managed to overcome the
challenges facing them and climb up the corporate ladder over time through the maintenance of
long term relations with both the customers and the stakeholders.
Thus to conclude, it can be asserted that this whole assignment and my contribution to the
completion of this assignment has changed my thought process of conducting and carrying out
research. It has in fact increased my understanding of the organization structure of firms and also
the importance that lies in the context of the organization structure with respect to that
organization especially operating in the corporate sector. I have also learned the techniques and
strategies which are crucial and integral to carry out the right type of research and in an accurate
manner. Along with these techniques and strategies I have also learnt the importance of time and
time management. In addition, I have also learnt about the ways in which the different parts of
the presentation worked on by different people should be combined in order to maintain a
continuous flow and help maintain the consistency of the matter being presented. I have also
learnt about the techniques and strategies on how to search and use information that is relevant to
the topic being used for research.
