Discussion Board Post
AI Summary
This discussion board post presents a student's responses to two different posts regarding organizational structure. The first response agrees with the post advocating for a bureaucratic organizational structure in healthcare centers, emphasizing the need for clear job responsibilities, hierarchy, and formalized processes to ensure efficient patient care and minimize errors. The second response partially agrees with a post supporting a formal organizational structure, particularly the line and staff structure, in the hotel industry. The student highlights the suitability of this structure due to its ability to facilitate communication between different departments, such as sales and production or food and beverage, to enhance customer satisfaction. The student suggests a line and staff organizational structure that is in vertical relationship which is practically perfect in a hotel organization as there needs to be a span of control in order to keep the services offered to the consumer at standardised form. The student also considers the importance of specialization and the roles of staff specialists in supporting line managers. The student suggests that although the formal structure is a good fit for the organization, the line and staff model would be better as it allows for innovation and improvement in the hotel industry. The student ultimately agrees that the formal structure is a good fit for the organization and would be a better fit with the line and staff model.

Response to Organizational Structure 1
Response of Kevec Polanco post
I agree to the post that reflects that healthcare centre needs to include bureaucratic
organisational structure. The study reflect that hospitals are in need of more precise execution
of duties and responsibilities by doctors, nurses and various level of managers in order to
function more appropriately and make the patient cure. A hospital cannot afford to have
mistaken or any easy-going structure and system. There needs to be a formal structure with
various levels of managers and departments which are broadly classified. Moreover the Jobs
and responsibility of each individual are classified and declared very clearly in the health care
centre. Considering the characteristics of bureaucratic organisation that is clearly stated job
responsibilities and roles, hierarchy of power is clearly reflected through the structure,
employees are hired only on their knowledge, competencies and skills basis. There is no
chance of considering luck or favouritism while hiring all recruiting employees in this
organisation. Moreover these organisational structures are considered or operated very
formally with a high degree of command structure.
From the literature, suitability and characteristic of this organisation the post reflects good
points to cover the justification for selection of organisational structure. However, the post
could have included a contrasting organisational structure for better understanding of the
choice. For instance, formal organisational structure could also be considered as one of the
suitable option. Through this, the structure is formal in the organisation, however the formal
structure would also restrict the communication among the hierarchy and thus not assure to
offer best competency employees. Therefore, I agree to bureaucratic organisational structure
as suggested in the post.

Response to Organizational Structure 2
Response for Venessa Richardson post
I will partially agree to the post presented which reflect the use of formal organisational
structure. A formal organisational structure reflects various sub categories which needs to be
included as part of the post. The literature reflects that most of the hotels are considering her
article organisational structure, which has its suitability in the Hotel industry. Considering the
radical organisational structure it has been categorised into various forms, the most suitable
one is found to be line and staff structure. The reason being a hotel is bifurcated into top level
managers and the other staff members of the hotel were directly in contact with the
customers. Line and staff organisational structure a suitable in the organisation where there
are large number of departments and are interlinked with each other. Other than this it is
important for line managers to be in contact with each other and half easy flow of
communication so that it is possible to consider innovation, creativity and improvement as
one department may be in contact with consumers and understand the consumer needs and
wants and the other department may be producing the same. Therefore the sales and
production department or food and beverage department must be interlinked so as to increase
customer satisfaction for hotel.
Moreover the literature reflects that line and staff are in vertical relationship which is
practically perfect in a hotel organisation as there needs to be a span of control in order to
keep the services offered to the consumer at standardised form. For instance stop specialist
are found to be responsible for Assisting and advising the line managers in their specific area
of specialisation. There are three common types of specialised cells that are control, service
and advisory. Therefore I would like to reflect agreement to the formal organisational
structure however this must be bifurcated towards line and staff organisational structure.
