Ans: Out of all the categories of crims which have been provided in the questions itself, it can
be said that racketeering and extortion are the crimes which affect the society more than
others. This is because extortion means taking money from someone by providing certain
threats , for e.g. kidnapping an individual and demanding money for his release from the
family members. This is a serious issue because it affects the family and the friends of the
individual getting kidnapped (Cressey, 2015).
Racketeering, on the other hand is a way of obtaining illegal money through some
criminal activity. This obtained from individuals in ways similar to kidnappings or might
involve other methods. Hence, this is the reason it is being said that criminal activities like
racketeering and extortion affect the society more than other crimes.
Question 2
Ans: None of the above mentioned crimes are considered to be “Victimless”. This is because
of the fact that all of the crimes which have been mentioned in the question, involves which is
being extracted by the criminal organizations from the ordinary citizens through kidnapping
or by following some other criminal methods which would be beneficial for them.
All of these money are being taken from the individuals who in that case becomes devoid
of money causing various difficulties in their daily lives. These money are then used by the
criminal organizations to cause and fund more criminal activities which might sometimes
range to terrorism activities. These activities by the criminals often lead to loss of lives. Thus,
it can be said that none of the crimes mentioned are said to be victimless as they do involve
victims and the loss of their lives (Paoli, 2014).

Ans: None of the crimes mentioned in the text should not be considered crimes. This is
because all of them are organized crimes, meaning that these crimes have been planned and
the execution of these crimes have also been planned at a time prior to the commitment of the
crimes themselves (Hobbs, 2013) Since, all of the activities mentioned in the given text
involves causing some sort of problem to the human beings, it can thus, be stated that all
forms of organized crimes will always be crimes since these activities are illegal to the state
or the country itself.

Ans: If one if the crimes mentioned in the given text are made legal, then the organized crime
groups will absolutely keep on continuing such services. This is because performing such
criminal acts would become an advantage for them, as they would know that the act is legal
and they would not be arrested or punished for performing such acts. Therefore, it can be said
that if any of the criminal activity are made legal, the rate of that crime in the city will not
only increase at an alarming rate, but it will also pose danger to the ordinary citizens of the
city itself (Crawford, 2013).
