INTRODUCTION
The project is based on Orientation for success in Higher education in which the importance
of reflective approach to learning within Business and Management is explained including the
use of formative feedback to inform and improve summative assessed work. It also covers the
cultural and behavioural expectations of studying for a degree in management and also the
importance of team working and peer to peer support to increase the learning experience is
discussed.
Impact of COVID 19 on Hospitality, Travel and Leisure
COVID 19 spread across the entire world due to which businesses and people are not able to
work that leads to decrease in economic growth and corporate profits. The pandemic brought
severe challenges and repercussions to hospitality, travel and leisure industry. They are facing
huge loss which influences their profitability and growth. Most of the Hotels gets shut as they
were facing challenges to run the business in effective and smooth manner (Vaikunthavasan,
Jebarajakirthy and Shankar, 2019). Due to the spread of disease government has imposed rules
and regulations which is being followed by people and businesses. Government has restricted to
run the business for few months and people were not allowed to gathered and came out of their
home without any reason. The government of each country have handled the COVID 19
situation in different terms some has imposed lockdown, economic relief and travel restrictions.
Due to travel restrictions, Hospitality, travel and leisure industry is facing lot of problem as
people were not allowed to travel which has influences the profitability of Hotel sector
(Michael, Morris-Dueer and Reichert, 2017). These industries are in unique situation as the main
reason for spreading the disease is travelling. Hospitality, travel and leisure industries are the
hardest hit sector in pandemic due to cancellation of tours, hotel reservation, flights and decrease
in restaurant in terms of hotel occupancy rates, inbound travels and reduction in average room
rates which affects the profit margin of the industries. Hotels are also experiencing substantial
revenue loss, wages, utilities and salaries and other expenditure and statutory payments (Miller,
Fassett and Palmer, 2021). The industries are badly bruised as they were not remaining same
after the travel restrictions and lockdown has been lifted. In order to sustain in competitive
environment, it is necessary to develop survival strategies that can help in increasing the growth
and profitability of business after post pandemic. The Challenges which is faced by Hospitality,

are dealing with these problems in order to overcome these issues it is important to find the ways

Formative feedback is a tool that provide ongoing and immediate feedback to instructors in
order to improve students learning. Through formative feedback, Lecturer can provide regular
feedbacks to students by ensuring that their knowledge and skills can be improved. It helps
faculties to measure the performance and efficiency of students in classroom so that they can
identify the knowledge, capacities and skills of students and also assess the ways through which
they can improve their learning aspects (Davis, 2018) . The use of formative feedback is that
teachers can determine the performance level of students and also know their learning capacities.
Formative feedback allows students to monitor and regulate their own performance so that they
can reduce uncertainty and correct their misconceptions. It can also help in increasing the
motivation level of students as they can know their strength and weakness while learning in
classroom. Summative assessment work can be improved by monitoring on the performance of
students and identifying the measures which can help them to correct their inappropriate
strategies (Yan, 2016). There are various benefits of formative feedback for students such as it
helps in enhancing the student’s confidence and motivation, improve academic achievements and
define learning goals. It is essential to learn the few skills at university which can help in
uplifting the career and make changes in personal development such as communication skills and
time management skills.

efficiency in classroom and put my best efforts by participating in activities and complete my
work assessment in appropriate time. Behaviour of students and teachers plays vital role in
University and influences the nature and habits of an individual. Students’ behaviour can
influence their learning ability and other students learning environment so it is necessary to have
a positive behvaiour towards the people and college.

In University and colleges peer to peer support is important in order to improve the learning
abilities and share knowledge. Peer to peer support is required when students use their own
experience to support or help each other. It includes giving and receiving the support by
providing emotional support and social interaction. The importance of peer to peer support to
increase the learning experience is that it helps in giving and receiving assistance to accomplish
long term recovery. It also helps in improving the wellbeing of employees, create support and
increase the social and confidence skills (Tadesse, Gillies and Manathunga, 2021). Through
peer supports students can learn from people and build healthy relations with other students and
faculties. Team work also plays an important role in increasing the learning experience as the
workload is shared in team due to which students face less burden and feel greater sense of
achievement when the project is completed. As per my viewpoint, team working plays an
essential role in increasing the learning experience as it increases the communication and social
of studying for degree in business and management must be positive so that I can improve my
