MAIN BODY
PART - 1
Reasons
The following elaborated and in – detail consultancy report has been prepared with an
intention of addressing the issues and challenges that the Original Creations is facing in the

prospect of developing new and better products along with efficient assessment and forecasting
of the market potential. One of the numerous reasons for preparation of this report is that the
entity has failed to launch a new product on which it was working tirelessly for over last 3
months. Another reason being getting the products manufactured by other business enterprises
who are either producing the similar kind of products or possess the ability to produce such
products (Chell, Hedberg-Jalonen and Miettinen, 2019). Also, such manufacturers are also
located in China who poses a serious language barrier which communicating to the entity along
with cultural differences.
One of the key issues where Original Creations need to work is getting the new products
to be successful in their target market. This is because its consecutive 10th product has failed to
mark its place in the market which has made the founder Mary Shelly worried about losing the
direction of the company (Walker and et.al., 2019). Such failures are due to the issues of vague
and inaccurate forecasting of the demand in the market, lower quality of the products being
manufactured and the projected utility which was not able to meet the expectations of the
customers. Such inability to forecast the demands is due to absence of a process of appropriate
and fully functioning Market Research Department in the company.
Further, the problem of stacking up of the inventory in the warehouse is increasing
claiming to be very costly for the company. Such stacking up of the inventory is due to bad
quality and low utility of the products for the customers which resulted in higher rate of return by
such customers to the entity. This leads to a very serious situation of the company not able to
meet and justify the cost of manufacturing it is incurring and failure of its strategies as the
products just keeps on getting returned to the company making such strategies a failure
(McCarthy and Dragouni, 2021). Another issues involves limited and inexperience staff in the
company in the departments of HR, logistics and warehouse who are the most crucial people in
the company for its success. The major decisions are taken only by the founder, Mary and that
too on the basis of her feel for the market and no other concrete research and development
strategies.
Key Issues present at ORIGINAL CREATIONS

Third Party Manufacturing – The entity in only engaged in the marketing and selling of its
products in the market i.e., the most crucial process of manufacturing the products is being
done by other manufacturing concerns. Such concerns may by already engaged in the
manufacturing of the same or similar products or have the required setup to be able to
produce the products as demanded by the entity (Borland, Bhatti and Lindgreen, 2019). The
cost of manufacturing such a way increases for the entity and also, it is not able to keep track
on the wastages, quality and cost being incurred on such manufacturing.
Linguistic and Cultural Barriers – Since the entity gives the task of manufacturing its
products to other companies in both the UK as well as in other countries like China therefore,
it faces the issues of linguistic barriers which is a serious issue when communicating with
them about the product requirements, design, level of quality, etc. Also, the differences in the
cultures of the home country and the country in which manufacturing will be done will result
in hindrances in the process of manufacturing.
Quality Checks – After the products are being manufactured, they are transported to the
warehouse where only spot checks are being done for ensuring their quality (Bini, Bellucci
and Giunta, 2018). This is a critical issue as there is a need to implement such methods of
quality checks which can regularly keep the quality of the products produced in check and
avoid and sort out such low quality and defective products which do not meet the criteria to
meet a particular quality standard.
Consecutive Product Failure – The most recent product of the company i.e., extended
toenail clipper failed in the market on the basis of its lower volume of sales than expected
and its bad quality and its usefulness not meeting the expectations as complained by the
customers. The return rate of the product was also more due to the delivery of the damaged
goods. Thus, the cost of manufacturing could not be justified by the company and also the
product continuation was in question.
Inexperienced Staff – The workforce of the entity is mainly comprised of the inexperienced
individuals specially in the key departments of HR, logistics and warehouse. The HR team is
comprised of mostly young and inexperienced individuals and the logistics & warehouse
teams is comprised of individuals who are majorly recruited from the employment agencies
and are temporary. Therefore, the workforce need to be more experienced, trained and skilful
to be able to manage the operations of the entity effectively and efficiently.

to be able to manage the operations of the entity effectively and efficiently.

Lack of Team Work – The founder Mary Shelley is only one who decides which product
will be finalised to be included in the product portfolio of the company. And such a crucial
decision is based on her own judgement which is affected by how she feels for the existing
market conditions which decides the course of action for the company’s growth. Therefore,
there is a need to inculcate the culture of team work in the organisation.
Lack of Market Research – After the selection of a new product idea, appropriate
manufacturer is finalized and such product is then included on the websites and the brochures
(Hanna and et.al., 2020). The founder Mary is of the view that no prior research of the
market is needed and the success of the product is best tested on the basis of its performance
in the market. Thereafter, a random small group of customers is approached and asked for
feedback on the basis of a questionnaire to obtain their views on the products. Thus, only
relying on the actual sales in the market and not conducting a market research is a very big
mistake which is leading to incurring of large costs on selling.
Thus, there are various departments in Original Creations which are at fault and whose
operations and processes needs to be modified. Like:
Production Department – Getting the products manufactured by the third parties is a
serious concern and comes under the purview of production department. Also, damaged and
bad quality of products produced also comes under the production department.
Warehousing – Regular quality checks to be implemented on the transfer of products to the
warehouse comes under the purview of warehousing and storage. Random spot checks are
not enough for the company.
Others – Increased costs of production, inexperienced and untrained staff, generation of
idea, team work rather than individual decision making and not systematic market research
are some other major issues.
Recommendations
Based on the issues and challenges faced by Original Creations, major innovative
modifications and new strategies & policies need to be devised, implemented and monitored to
help the entity cope with the continuous failures of the recent products and also the development
of new and appropriate products (Harris and et.al., 2022). The most serious and pressing issue
which needs to be addressed is the absence of appropriate process and department for market
will be finalised to be included in the product portfolio of the company. And such a crucial
decision is based on her own judgement which is affected by how she feels for the existing
market conditions which decides the course of action for the company’s growth. Therefore,

modifications and new strategies & policies need to be devised, implemented and monitored to
help the entity cope with the continuous failures of the recent products and also the development
of new and appropriate products (Harris and et.al., 2022). The most serious and pressing issue
which needs to be addressed is the absence of appropriate process and department for market

research for research prior to the launching of a product. Therefore, the following
recommendations can be made for such issue:
Obtaining useful information and data from various parties like sales partners, distributors,
etc. who knows the basic structure and requirements of the market as they are functioning
and surviving such market and knows the ways and methods on how to handle the conditions
and situations prevailing currently. All the essential nitty gritty of the market are known to
them.
Both primary as well as secondary research can be done by the entity which will include
taking interviews of the customers and individuals in the market, taking surveys in the
market, formation of focus groups, referring to the existing information about the survey of
the market by other rivals and players, etc. The results rendered from these studies will be
more accurate, insightful and precise.
Experimenting the actual sales on a selected groups of customers first before launching the
product in the real market to know their response and reaction. This will allow the company
to make the necessary changes in the current processes and operations so that when the
product is launched in actual market, results will be favourable.
Another issue is getting the job of manufacturing done by third party rather than doing it
on own by the company itself. When producing or manufacturing on a large scale, it is always
beneficial if such process of manufacturing is done by the company itself (Galleta-Williams and
et.al., 2020). This way, the cost of production reduces to a great extent. The linguistic and
cultural barriers also will not be prevalent. Another benefit of such self – production is that the
entity has complete control over the product relating to the decisions regarding its distribution,
strategies of its marketing, pricing of the product, quantity of the product to be sold, etc. Most
importantly, quality of the products can be kept under strict supervision along with faster and
efficient deliveries.
Issue of marketing of the product to a larger number of customers also needs to be
addressed which can be done by implementing the following strategies:
Strategy of Framing Marketing can be implemented which says that the manner of
communication is more important than the matter which is communicated which can be
explained through following strategies:

A strategy which involves marketing of a product to the customers by telling him and
convincing him what all gains they will enjoy if he consumers such a product under

A strategy which involves marketing of a product to the customers by communicating
them and convincing them what all they will be losing if the current product or

referred to as Loss Framing Strategy.
A strategy which involves using statistical facts and figures as a basis to sell the

Further, the issue of quality control in the warehouse is very crucial. This is done to
catching of issues early on and then limiting any mistakes in future by catching such issues
(Crick, Chaudhry and Crick, 2018). Any processes of inefficiency can be prevented and quality
can be substantially improved and maintained up to the acceptable standards or even more. Now
there are various tools which can be implemented to check such quality:
Using check sheets to tick off the daily tasks of quality check like inventory count, any
damage if any, etc.
Using flowchart to keep check on each and every step involved like receiving, shelving,
picking, packing, shipping, etc. Also, the tasks requiring more detailed inspection can also be
identified.
Using Pareto chart by the warehouse managers for identification of the most substantial
issues and prioritizing the fixation of such issues. Therefore, the issues that don’t need
immediate attention can be fixed afterwards.
It is also recommended encouraging the culture of team work in the management of the
organisation so that all the individuals are given the opportunity to share their opinion. This
results in inculcating the environment and culture of innovation and creativity in the organisation
and enhancing the sense of belongingness in the environment of the organisation. Such team
work will result in receipt of ideas of various individuals who have come from different
background, educational qualification, experience and culture (Khan and et.al., 2019). This will
allow Original Creations to have more innovative and creative new products in their product
portfolio. Such team work will also include inclusion of other individuals and the whole

management team in the significant decisions like approval of the products to be included in the
product portfolio.
The staff or workforce also needs to be trained and before that, such individuals need to
be recruited which match the requirements of a job position, and they are able to do their work
effectively and efficiently. Appointing inexperienced staff or younger staff who is not trained
and skilled enough is not a wise move at all. Also, recruiting through employment agencies of
the temporary staff is also not a wise move. The entity shall have its own process of recruitment
of employees on the basis of a fixed criteria and having minimum qualification requirement for
various job positions.
Also, it is suggested that the management of the entity shall apply and implement the
Ansoff Matrix which is one of the most effective tool of strategic planning which will allow the
Original Creations in analysis of the most effective opportunities available (Jones and Comfort,
2019). It is very crucial to utilize the concept of product development while launching new
products in the existing markets to mitigate any risks and issues associated with the launching of
new products and making it successful. It will also assist the entity in knowing the tastes and
preference of the existing market condition so that the best possible revenues can be generated
when such new products are launched as the entity will be knowing the best strategies to be
implemented in this case.

Reflective Writing
In this above discussion of the marketing and management of business, I had learned how to
deal with seniors and portray our thought in front of others. I absorb from the journals that keep a
mind in clam state and work efficiently. I had learned how to manage and control emotions at
the hard time and when company faces a loss from any product, how to decline a pressure or
stress at the time of workload and how to co-pup with other person and manage all work in
appropriate manner I had made a mind in the semester that many obstacles are come in between
the initiation of business but didn't get affected with any obstacles and that was major part of
understanding so that I work in appropriate manner.
I had learned in the second week about launching of new product which is right for the
growth of the company and by that the new product profitability rate also increase. I had
product portfolio.
The staff or workforce also needs to be trained and before that, such individuals need to

I had learned in the second week about launching of new product which is right for the
growth of the company and by that the new product profitability rate also increase. I had

continued watching and understanding the logics and reasons behind the management. Apart
from gaining knowledge on skills and strategies which was implemented by the company on
products many other skills are also important for the growth and survival basically
communication, grasping power quick observance are also had their importance in terms of
increasing the market value of products. I had learned innovative ideas, techniques by which
consumers are attracted and want to purchase that product at once. In the presentation, they all
describe well but I quite suffer in verbal part of presentation which means that I work on my
basic of communication so that next time it will be easy to understand the presentation in a better
way. The company have many criteria on which products are launch and proper research is been
required for that so a numerical dash board is briefly described by senior and by that numerical
value it is easy for me to understand the exact value and costing of the product. At the initial of
7the week this numerical value chart is described ans is quite difficult for me to understand and
put it on my assignment, so I take a proper attention towards the presentation by which it was
easy to put that criteria in my own presentation in appropriate way.
For betterment in my performance or in understanding I used a model which effectively
work for me Kolb's learning model (Betts, and Santoro, 2019. ). That model helps me understand
every aspect on which company work and gain higher amount of profit margin and also comes
under in competition with other. This model is also known as experimental learning cycle. This
model has basically four parts of cycle. The first one is concrete experience, this is mainly had
very important part for my assignment because a proper class, presentation is required for start-
up of any new concept and that concept is totally new for me to understand at a very first time
and business grow very fast in velvety fired. The classes are properly taken by well experienced
candidates they all have that understanding, portraying their thought in front of students. The
second one is reflective observation which means that when I understand the whole process of
business management that was quite easy but when I execute that criteria on my assignment than
it creates a difference in making of assignment, third one is abstract conceptualization many new
techniques, models are brief describe in the seminar which is beneficiary for company to found
themselves in the peak position of the industry so the experience is great in making of the
assignment that creates my mindset on bushiness direction. At last active experiment is come
under this model of learning which was applied by me on my assignment when I start assignment
from gaining knowledge on skills and strategies which was implemented by the company on

consumers are attracted and want to purchase that product at once.

As it is easy for me understand the whole management with belbin theory because it
depicts the lead condition by which I understand to work with a team ad coordinate with
everyone in order to fulfil there requirement as well (Flores Ureba and et.al., 2022.). So by this
employer also have soft heart for me and understand my point of view, many strong point of
mine which I recognize at the time of seminar and some area on which I had to focus on that
basically are technical knowledge I lack in that particularly. I want to improve of mine by
attaining online classes, I started self assessment so that actual position of my performance may

Many students are there in one seminar hall so it was quite difficult for management team
to manage every candidate in a proper manner, but they manage it in an appropriate manner I
didn't understand how it is possible in a short period later I came to know about the model which
was based on team management which is Tuckman's model that model generally used for team
management at the end of 9th week this also help me to identify the right way on which company
and individual work (Leal-Rodriguez, and Albort-Morant, 2019). One incident was happening to
me that one of my batch-mate was in pain, and he didn't want to share with other but at last he
fell down on the floor at that time all other mates help him to put out of the seminar room and
take that guy a medicine. This depicts that at every point of time it is more important to help
other and execute plan in the team work that reflect the majority of team and productivity and
profitability.
