In Vancouver, to educate the patients, family members and their supporter for
endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer, Gynecologic Cancer Education Day will conduct on 9th
March, 2019 (Ovariancanada.org., 2019). The program will include providing education about
Ovarian and endometrial cancer, Clinical trials of patients, Research and patient outcomes and
will have a Special guest speaker to provide crucial information about cancer.

The charity runs the program:
Ovarian cancer Canada is the charity that will run the program and the program will hold
on BC cancer research center in Vancouver where they will host the program
(Ovariancanada.org., 2019)
Target population:
The target populations of the programs are the patient with the endometrial and ovarian
cancer of Canada along with the family members and supporter of them. The prime reason
behind choosing the target population is that a considerate number of individuals with the early
symptoms of endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer are unaware of cancer due to inadequate
literacy about cancer. Moreover, although few of the patients are aware of their health
conditions, patients and their family members have little knowledge about these cancers which
further intensifying the health conditions (Bowtell et al., 2015). Therefore, they are chosen as
a target population for the program (Razin, & Langlois, 2016).
The geographic location of the program:
The geographic location of the program is BC cancer research institute of Vancouver,
bustling west coast seaport in British Columbia amongst the Canadian densest and ethnically
diverse city (Razin & Langlois, 2016).

Analysis of the program through Ottawa charter:
There is a mountain of research evidence highlighted diverse framework of wellbeing,
Ottawa charter is most applicable framework as a systematic approach to health promotion
which covers five action areas of the health promotion to reduce the issues in the target group.
1. Health public policy:
The policy of more frequent screening of the ovarian and endometrial cancer for the
women in Canada in the community and national level is required to implement in community
hospital through building advocacy (Thompson, Watson & Tilford, 2018).
2. Creating supportive environment:
Culturally supportive and competent workshops involving family members and
supporter, patients are required for creating a supportive environment and raising awareness of
cancer.
3. Develop community actions:
Recruitment of skilled health professionals by training and workshops are required to
promote healthy living and seek professionals help in the early stage of cancer.
4. Developing personal skills:
Development of the personal skills such as strong verbal and nonverbal communication
skills, active listening, empathy, patience, and open-mindedness are required for the health
professional, community workers and supporters to support the patients with cancer and the
individuals who required immediate clinical attention.

5. Reorient health care services:
The abundance of stigmatized behavior and healthy illiteracy is identified as one of the
barriers for reduction of the prevalence of cancer. Therefore, reorienting health care services
through creating a stigma-free environment with an open-minded approach can be used to reduce
incidents of ovarian and endometrial cancer and enhance the help seeking behaviors of patients
(Flynn, 2015).
