1PEOPLE HAVE BECOME OVERLY DEPENDENT ON TECHNOLOGY
The rapid growth in technology has made possible unimaginable happenings, and people
overly depended on technology for even minor jobs. The essay argues on the debate that today
people are overly depended on technology.
The amount of dependence people have on technology is for it is cheap compared to the
return it gives. People are continually making the internet the primary source of communication
and when the internet is down the panic in people’s behaviour tells that their work is stoped for
that specific duration (Giddens, 2018). For example, it is the internet people browse for doing
their research as it takes time to go to the nearest public library.
It is not about mathematics however it is about making an effort when it comes to saving
a contact number which shows it is an easy way to carry out work. There is nobody who tends to
remember more than one or two phone numbers (Newman & Kenworthy, 2015). For example,
when a person loses the phone, the first thing they worry about is the contact number and the
emails. It is not only memorising a phone number but also jotting it down on a paper. People
hardly make an effort to write phone numbers on a notebook today.
Technology makes life easy. EBooks, digital microwave, smart refrigerator, luxury cars,
iPods, smartphones and many other devices have developed only for the reason that people are
slowly becoming depended on technology. For example, it is often seen people carrying kindle
than a real book as it is easy to take and gives access to several books in one device. This shows
that it is technology that is dominating people.
Therefore, it can be concluded that although due to the accessibility, easiness, and cost-
effectiveness people are becoming largely depended on technology people should value the
comfort and the hard work in doing it manually.
