Dear Sir/Mam,
My name is Diana Kim, and as you can see in my transcripts, I was one of the top students in
high school and went to the University of Houston with a full scholarship in the year 2009. I
earlier perceived that achieving my educational goals will be a smooth success. However, a
series of unfortunate events deterred my goals. I got in a pretty big car accident, lost my car,
my facial looks, my friends, scholarship, and everything in quick succession. I gained much
weight due to which I could not walk for a few months, post the injury, and became severely
depressed. Such a series of catastrophic events followed by depressive episodes deteriorated
my ability to concentrate well, post which, I enrolled in school again and tried to continue my
study, but failed to do so. I ended up dropping all my courses and receiving an F grade in
them. After trying for several semesters, I gave up on myself and started working as a tutor.
Even though I could not focus on my studies, I was still able to teach. I started to help
students who were facing a similar situation like me and were dealing with anxiety and
depression. I was an outstanding student, for which I failed to correlate the cause of failure in
studies for other students. However, after experiencing my failure, I was able to relate to
students better and agreed to pray for them and provide all possible assistance to them in their
academics. Thankfully, the words of mouth spread among the parents, and I had more
students than I can handle. I started hiring teachers, and now I own my own tutoring
company. The company is called VIP (Vision Inspired Purpose) Learning. I take this work as
God’s vision and have dedicated my life to it. I want to continue to help my students, and
teach them not to give up, and for this, I want to set an example for them by returning to
college and completing my studies after 10 years with academic success.
Even though my transcripts will reflect failed classes, I request you to consider my personal
situation and allow me to continue my pursuit education in your institution. Furthermore, I
request you to please clarify my few doubts, which includes would the failing grades transfer

or only the passing grades will transfer? I would request for your precious advice on whether
it would be better for me to start from scratch, without transferring my grades.
I hope for your sincere cooperation.
Thank you,
