INTRODUCTION
Business communication is defining as the process in which
promotional activities are been carried by the individuals with the motive to
promote the products and services of the organization and provide benefit to
them (Bovée, Thill and Raina, 2016). From business point of view, it is very
important as with the help of communication they can make other understand
about their products and services and also understand the response of their
customers or clients. The report is based on business communication where
key objective is to determine the barriers to communication, effective
strategy in order to overcome with these barriers and importance of cultural
awareness.
MAIN BODY
Identify the challenges and barriers to effective communication.
Business communication is term as the internal process where within the
organization the strategy is been formulated regarding the promotional
activities (Coffelt, Baker and Corey, 2016). Basically it involves various
order factors such as consumer behavior, advertising, communication,
research and many other. Barriers to effective communication are as follow-
Linguistic Barriers- It is term as language barrier that is due to use
of different language the employees won’t able to establish effective
communication among themselves and face difficult in understanding
the various factors.
Psychological Barriers- These are those barriers which take place
due to mental and psychological issues such as fear, depression, etc
due to which effective communication doesn’t take place.
Physical barriers- These are those barriers which take place due to
unwanted sounds such as noise which act as a barrier in establishing
effective communication.
Determine the effective strategies for overcoming communication
barriers.
The primary motive of business communication is to help the organization in
accomplishment of goals and objectives by establishing effective
communication. Here are few strategies which helps in removing barriers to
communication (Coombs, 2015).
Active listening strategies- The active listening techniques helps in removing
the barriers to communication that is by focusing on taking feedback one can
improve their inefficiencies. One should not interrupt the other person while
speaking as it breaks the flow and act as barrier. Moreover, the employees
must focus on paying attention to one who is speaking as it is key to establish
effective communication.
Verbal communication strategies- In order to improve the communication
and make it more effective one should make sure that no distraction take
place. Moreover, employees must acknowledge with other person is saying as
by using facial expressions and participating in the conversation.
Determine the importance of cultural awareness.
It is important to focus on cultural awareness as there are various
misunderstanding take place at various levels of business which crate
problems in operational activities. Having proper knowledge about culture
makes people the global citizens that is helps in breaking down the barriers
and focus on building cultural bridges. As cultural awareness helps in
understanding the beauty in the diversity which makes the world a better place
to live (Thomas and Stephens, 2015).
CONCLUSION
From the above study it has been concluded that effective communication is
the key to success as it helps in better understanding. By establishing effective
communication, the changes of conflict and mistake among the employees are
very less.
