Communication challenges and barriers
The common challenges and barriers to effective communication are as follows.
MANAGEMENT BARRIERS: There is a lack of management between hierarchies due to which drivers are not able to talk to their
supervisors about technical issues and their other concerns about the pay. There is no system to monitor the performance of drivers in
management, by which the performance standards set by company are not properly monitored.
LANGUAGE BARRIERS: Drivers have been showing rude and intolerant behaviour towards English-speaking customers who
prefer to use English as their second language. As the workforce is mostly made up of locals who have regional dialect, they are not
able to communicate with the customers properly.
STRESS: The workforce in company is currently under staff due to which drivers remain in pressure to reach allocated destinations
within their 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week. There is lack of proper coordination in management of company due to understaffed
workforce. This has created panic and stress within drivers due to which they are rude and intolerant towards customers which is a
major communication barrier.
EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT: The management of company should enhance the communication between hierarchies, superiors
must use the accountability principle towards the drivers so that their performance can be monitored. Management should hold
meetings after driver’s shifts often so that they are able to communicate their problems properly.
PROPER TRAINING: Workforce should be given proper training to communicate in various languages properly for efficient
service to customers. They should be given better technical knowledge, seminars to understand the ethical values drivers need to
hold towards public should be held to deliver good quality services by the company.
NEW RECRUITMENT AND POLICY CHANGES: Company should use new recruitment techniques to heir good
communication skilled workforce. Proper incentives and salary enhancement with time should be given to drivers, so that their

THE AWARENESS OF CULTURAL INFLUENCES ON COMMUNICATION
AND NEGOTIATIONS
Culture of a country plays an important influential role in shaping the style of communication, the way individuals are socialized,
their communication platforms. It highly influences on thinking of people, their talking and behaviour patterns. Culture of work
environment in a company is understood by the way workforce in a company behaves with customers. They should not be rude and
intolerant towards any class of customers as it directly affects the company's goodwill. There should be proper technical knowledge
in workforce and polite communication skills to communicate directly with the customers. Cultural awareness also influences the
negotiation factors in a company. The goals, attitudes and communication styles of workforce directly affect the way it presents out
the company's name to its customers. The drivers in company should hold cultural understanding towards all customers who are
aged, people who use wheelchairs, and they should show ethical behaviour towards them. The drivers should be able to provide a
comfortable experience to all customers by keeping the importance of cultural influences in mind.
