INTRODUCTION
Time which a student spends in a university is often said to bring along a lot of memories and
good experiences. However, there are always a number of rough patches for a student in
student life. There are a number of such challenges which every student has to face throughout
they study in universities (Vakkai and et. al., 2020). Once along the way these problems are
bound to be faced by them. Following report discusses what are such problems faced by students
and what measures can be taken by them in order to overcome such problems faced by them.
Problems Faced by Students
There are a number of such problems which a student faces while studying in the university
some of them are mentioned below:
Study
It can be academically challenging for some students to study in the University. The courses in
the university require higher efforts than that in high school. Courses out of 15, 18 or even 21
credits sometimes. It becomes difficult for a student to stay at the top of all the courses they have
joined.
Money
The cost of studying in the university is very high. Along with this the cost of food,
transportation, textbooks and many more are added which raises the cost of studying in the
university. There are a number of such students who drop out of university just because they
cannot afford to pay the price is required to study in one. Many others have no other option but
to work somewhere full time in order to meet their needs which affect their grades
Jobs
In order to fulfil the requirement of all the expenses students join work while studying. Due to
this there grades can be seen falling down also students do not get enough rest or sleep. This may
raise a number of health problems in students making them vulnerable.
Homesickness
It is a very common challenge faced by many students while studying at the University. This
happens because many students are away from their home for the first time and due to the
pressure in the university, they feel more homesick.

level. They look for a number of options in order to find relief such as party or going out with

Choosing a major

further studies. It is very important because a major is going to define what will be the future
carrier of a student also how will the student on money which is the ultimate goal of studying in
University.
Poor sleeping habits
It is often seen in students that they have lack of sleep. Due to studies and work all going on
together it becomes difficult for students to manage their sleep. Due to this it can be seen in
students that they have anxiety and depression. Poor sleeping habits also lead to a number of
health issues. Due to this student can neither focus on their studies nor on their work.
Test anxiety
It is often seen in students that while taking exams they have to experience severe anxiety issues.
They feel nervous and see themselves having difficulty to concentrate, sweating,
hyperventilating and many other. It is often said by scientists that anxiety is a learned process so
students can also unlearn it.
Social anxiety
It is often seen that the social environment in a college or university often give rises to anxiety
specially in the freshman year. Some students are naturally extrovert and find it easy to make
social connections. On the other hand, there are some such students who find difficult to
socialise and the resultant isolating themselves from everyone. This happens due to fear of being
judged, embarrassment, or even fear of rejection sometimes. Students build a mindset due to
which they are shy and they assume that they are incapable of joining with others.
Relationships
Relationships are always good but sometimes for students they proved to be overwhelming.
There are many times in a relationship when the couple or two people involved in the
relationship have some disagreements. Due to these disagreements the work of a student gets
distracted and this also adds to the stress level and if this disagreement is not sorted in time it
might lead to break ups which can further lead a student into depression.

Friends or roommates
It is often seen that roommates of friends as someone who are very close to a student in the
University (Gilani, 2020). All the important work or even fun social activities are done with
them. However, after sometime spending a lot of time together disagreements and conflicts may
arise between them. This leads to distraction, anxiety and development of depression in a
student.
Improper diet
It is often seen in students that they do not eat properly. It is very important for them to have a
healthy and balanced diet. In order to save money and save time they often go for such food
which is not healthy for the body. This results in sickness and major health conditions.
Recommendations to overcome such problems
In the about discussion a number of factors leading to difficulties in a student’s life while
studying in University has been mentioned. Following are some of the ways and
recommendations through which students can overcome these challenges:
A student needs to learn the limit. They need to understand what is it that they can
handle. If they believe that they can only handle 18 credits semester they should not go
for more than it. It is important to properly schedule everything there is a lot of time they
have in universities they should not cry am up everything at a time to stay at the top.
Along with studies it is important to take breaks for fun activities in order to keep their
mind clear and fresh.
There are a number of students phones which a student can apply for. However, they
need to know that how can we repay this loan by working after college. Student can
easily work on campus which will decrease their transportation expenses and also taken

their expenses creating a list for eatables and important expenses and sticking to the
budget.
It is important for a student to decide on the priority list. This list we include meetings,
study, games, events or even job. There are a number of jobs offered by University which

management of time.

Even though many times students do not admit but they can easily get homesick very
soon. If a student lives near their home, they can easily plan a trip once or twice every
month. If that is not possible, they can be regularly into touch with their family, friends
through emails and phone calls. These steps only help to decrease the feeling of
homesickness in students.
This is the most common issue students while studying in University depression and
stress. In such cases it is highly recommended for students to seek for some professional
help. There are three, sleep programs result in a number of campuses. The councilors
are well trained and they listen to students try to help them and make sure that they keep
them on track (Morgan-Consoli and et. al., 2020). This is the best way to fight depression
while studying in University.
Students need to make sure that they are healthy. They need to eat healthy balanced
meals from time to time. It is required by them to take proper rest at night. It is also
advised that students must do some kind of exercise for at least 45 minutes a day. In this
way they can stay fit and be healthy. If any issue rises it is advised to students that they
must go to campus clinic
It is recommended for students to spend some alone time. They need to take out some
time for themselves get away from social gatherings maybe visit the campus go for a
walk, coffee or a shopping mall. In this way students can avoid conflicts and then feel
better when they meet there friends not so regularly.
It is very important for the students to choose their major. All of their future careers and
salary they might earn all depends on it. If a student is this not sure about which major
relief to choose, they can go for something broad such as media or communication.
Worrying to much about it may cause anxiety which is not worth it. Focus should be on
gaining knowledge as well as life skills which will be very helpful for students to do good
in universities.
