Effects of overpopulation in China
Despite the high economic achievements that China has made over the past years, the country is
still facing various social challenges. The most critical issue is overpopulation since it has
massive effects on the country's economic level, education services, and the overall environment.
Overpopulation in China is the key challenge to the existing economic development in China
(Kuo, 2012) . There exist limited natural resources which barely help the excessively growing
population. Developing the country's economy requires a huge quantity of adequate natural
resources like land, water bodies, minerals like oil and coal in the industrial sector However,
these natural resources in the environment reduces when large population growth is reported in
China .It brings about high expenditure on pension benefits and medical security (Lee, 2014)
Therefore, Overpopulation in China has adverse effects on the improvement strategies of the
citizens’ standards of living.
Overpopulating in China also brings about critical challenges in the improvement of educational
in China especially higher learning institutions. This challenge weakens china's ability to be part
of a competitive power in the international level. With the rapidly rising population in this
particular country, contemporary society requires more educators and advanced school facilities
like buildings, learning materials, and classroom tools (Pei, 2016) However, as a result of the
developing nature of this nation, the available funds needed to cater for education service
delivery are quite sufficient in China. Conversely, this effect prompts young children in various
parts of china's region to acquire minimal education services .Even in the cities centers of China,
where the education domain is a bit improved, the existing learning and teaching facilities are
still not well pleasant. It is evident that adequate and high-level education in the current era is the

fundamental basis for the growth of both science and technology, and also the existing
competition between countries in the modern era. Therefore, poor educational issue that
overpopulation brings adversely affects china’s science and technology to a given extent. Also,
the increased population has different minorities and religions hence bringing about various
conflicts and dilemmas which can greatly hinder china's progress as a harmonious cultural
society (Huang, 2013).
The rapidly increasing population in China needs more natural resources hence bringing about a
great level of greenhouse emissions, decreased food and water availability. It also brings about
increasing affluence level. Typically, as China continues to become highly industrialized and
economic development, its population will thereby continue migrating to the city and town
centers thus increasing the demand curve for more resources. An example is the increased
demand for cars in China which has exponentially been maximized over the current years. This
has adversely resulted in a maximum amount of carbon emissions to be released making China
be the largest emitter of carbon dioxide harmful gas. Therefore, it becomes a huge contributor to
the global warming problem as a result of overpopulation (Singh RP, 2016)
Another effect of the overpopulation in China is an unfair distribution of resources.as the country
shifts its livelihood from rural to urban there is more demand for food even if there are minimal
farmers who ensure continuous production of food. This can result in long term famine As a
result of overpopulation, other natural resources like now renewable energy like coal and oil
decreases. Water deficiency is also growing in China hence hampering agricultural activities.
Landscape ecology is also being affected by the high population in China. Thus it brings about
poor sustainable growth rate, poor allocation, and management of resources (Zhang, 2017).
Overpopulation in China brings about problems of national security where people can engage in

criminal activities like theft and prostitution.it also brings about great pressure in public
transports such as congestion and heavy traffic. Overpopulation can also bring about poor
housing and unemployment levels hence the high cost of living.
