INTRODUCTION
In a health care home, nurse play an important role foe performing the activities in an
efficient manner. Thus, the individual is responsible to take care of the patients, listen to their
needs and comfort them so as to provide them with greater service. A professional nurse acquire
the qualities which may comfort the patients to a greater extent (Fulton, Lyon and Goudreau,
eds., 2014). Further, in this report the detailed study is been made on the nurses specifically
working in the paediatric field. Moreover, there attributes and the qualities of a good nurse is
been determined. At last the training required to make a beginner nurse to become an expert is
been studied in efficient manner.
Professional attributes of nurse
To become an efficient nurse, they must access several attributes in them so as to serve
the patients with greater care. The following are the attributes which a nurse must have a become
a good nurse:
 Caring- It is important for the nurse to be highly caring, understanding and non-biased
towards the patients so as to serve the patients with greater care. As they are first person
to meet the patients at the time they come to avail the services.
 Good communication skills- It is considered to be the most important aspect to become
an efficient nurse. They are directly interacting with both the patients as well as doctors
for providing with the treatment. Thus, it becomes important to have good
communication skills so as make the interaction properly (Adams, 2011).
 Responsible- An efficient nurse must understand there responsibility and must make sure
that they perform them with great accuracy. They are playing an important role in the
health care as they assess and treat the patients.
 Emotional stability- As it is been stated that nursing is a stressful job where the
individual has to come across several types patients suffering from whereas diseases.
Thus, it is important for them to be emotionally stable while treating the patients.
Scope to determine the qualities of specialised nurse
There are several attributes which differs with becoming an expert nurse in a certain
field. Thus the following are the standards according to which an expert nurse is differentiated
from the novice nurse.

 According to Standard 1, the expert nurse performs there practices assuring the
legislations, regulations, policies and guidelines determined for them to work in a health
care. Thus, this point makes them different from the novice nurses.
 According to Standard 3, the expert nurse in the paediatric field is highly efficient to
work in the time frame so as to provide with the best treatment to the patients and
maintain the work properly. This is the core element which makes a expert nurse superior
to the others (Rao, 2012).
 According to Standard 5, they develop with the plan by assessing the data from different
means and from the evidences so as to provide patients with greater care and treatment to
recover fast.
 According to Standard 3, an efficient nurse take the feedbacks from the doctors and the
seniors and respond to them in a positive manner by working on the weak points and
providing better care to the patients.
Education required for Paediatric nurse
In order to be a paediatric nurse, it is important for one to get registered in RN (Registered
nurses). This is achieved through educational or hospital institutes. Further, it requires nursing
diploma and for this purpose, it takes about 2 to 3 years to complete (Franklin and Melville,
2015). In this context, it requires different courses like child psychology, anatomy and
physiology. In addition to this, it also includes practical work at healthcare professionals and this
is helpful to develop nursing skills. This is type of course is done by novice but to cross to this
area, it requires bachelors degree which is Associate Degree in Nursing which requires or instead
there is Science in Nursing which is of 4 years. This type of degree provides classroom education
and also with clinical experience. To be an expert at this area, it requires to taken up Masters of
Science in Nursing (MSN). This enables to focus over the specific area nurses according to their
interest. Nurses who wishes to become advanced practice nurses for specific care for children
can become paediatric nurse practitioners. In order to opt for Masters one needs to have Bachelor
of Science in Nursing. It takes about 2 to 3 years to complete up with MSN (Scanlon, Smolowitz
and Barnes, 2015).
Training given to Paediatric nurse
During their education, nurses needs to go through various nursing topics like general
psychology, physiology and anatomy, professional nursing concept, professional nursing

competencies, etc. For these areas proper education is provided and they are also given with
practical experience with children who have actually some sort of issues. Evaluation is made as
per the quality of services that are provided to them (Gray, Rowe and Barnes, 2016). As per the
standards that are set up my NMBA, it is important to make sure that nurses are provided with
proper practical experience as the theoretical knowledge can provide understanding but actual
experience is gain from different type of cases the one handle. The more and more experience
nurses gain from the diverse type of situation that are faced make them raise their levels. They
get to identify the issues or problem that are faced by child and meditations are provided to them
accordingly. In addition to this, it makes them to think critically, focus on maintaining the
capability of practice and to develop proper plane with the help of which proper services can be
provided that will help the child to over come their problems (Ross, Barr and Stevens, 2013).
Moreover, taking proper precaution is also important area that has to be considered so that wrong
meditation is not provided as there are cases that it make the situation more complex.
CONCLUSION
As per the finding, it can be stated that at all the areas of nursing, it is important to have
proper experience so that one will be able to identify the situation and provide them services
accordingly. This is possible when nurses get different type of cases to hand which should be
done under the supervision of expert who can guide and direct them.
