Research aim
The aim of the research is to explore on the wider scale that what factors impact adolescents by
the separation of parents and how does this affect their mental health and development. It will
lay the aim of research that how can parents learn to know the hidden feelings as well as concern
of teenagers? It will also develop the understanding that how can parents best secure the
children from damaging the conflicts?
Significance of research
As the research paper will discover the factors affecting adolescents after the separation of
parents. It will also develop the understanding that how the separation of parents will affect the
development of teenagers and their mental health. The research will be helpful in recognizing the
real impact of separation of the parents. When separation takes place, this is very difficult for the
adolescents to be hopeless and want the parents to stay together. In this way, this will place the
way to acknowledge the requirements of developing the good relationship between parents and
adolescents (Seong and Kim, 2015).
Literature Review-

of the issues can be reconciled (or moderated) by the various factors. Various related factors for
instance, the lower income as well as parent conflicts is connected with nonrandom choice in
the family stability or breakup of parents. The separation of parents may affect the children in
negative way. There are various factors that affect the teenagers by the separation of the parents.
These factors may include the family characteristics like the socio-economic status, childrearing,
and children characteristics like gender and age of the children at the time of the separation of
the parents (Moor and de Graaf, 2016).
Effects of separation of parents on mental health of teenagers
The reasons why the teenagers can develop the mental health problems may be critical, however
this study states how the parent’s separation can be puzzling as well as troublemaking for the
children and play the important role, specifically in the soon after childhood. The kids and grown
person offspring of divorced parents are overpresented in a mental health system. Most mental
health interference targets the identified mediators of risks, like parenting issues or the family
conflicts. The structured intervention providing parenting sustaining as well as education have
stated for reducing the psychological problem of children. The separation of parents was already
considered to be one of numerous childhood experiences, which may lead to youngsters arsing
the issues of mental health like nervousness and sadness. The paternal departure has the adverse
effects on mental health of children, mainly upon internalising symptom. There are no short-run
effect of leaving in early childhood, and only weak evidence of medium-run effect, as well as for
women only. The paternal departure in afterwards childhood is related to enhance in internalising
the issues in females s well as males. It is found that no class divide in effects of the separation

of family, those from poor as well as wealthy background were evenly likely to experience
mental sickness (Miniksar and Bayhan, 2018).
Reasons of using the outstanding behaviours by the teenagers
Due to the separation of the parents, the teenagers use the outstanding actions to fix their
emotions. The teenagers are wired in different ways. The brain of the teenagers is still
aggressively growing, therefore processes data in a different way than the brain of mature
teenager. The frontal cortex the role of brain utilised to handle the feelings, take decisions,
reasons, as well as control the inhibition, is re-framed at teenage times, creating new synapses at
unbelievable rates, when a complete brain does not arrive at complete maturity in anticipation of
the mid-twenties. The teenagers may frequently practice at-risk behaviours such as the drinking,
use of drug, aggression, skip school, self-damaging, shop-lifting, or various criminal behaviours.
In addition, they can show the symptoms of mental health issues like the depression, nervousness
as well as eating disorder (Boxhorn, et. al, 2019).
Effects of separation of parents on academic development of teenagers
The parental separation is related to the increased risks for the child as well as teenager
adjustment issues, such as academic problems (such as, low grade as well as the school drop-
outs) and disruptive behaviour. The separation of parents affects the academic performance of
the children adversely. The teenagers cannot focus on their career as well as education. They
always think about the family conditions, surroundings and the separation of their parents. The
study has stated that student experiencing repeat divorce does much worse in the institutions,

schools and colleges. The teenagers are often seen as no happy or less happy to be around by the
students as well as the teachers. In this way, different situations may contribute to the experience
of person in dealing with separation of the parents (Moffitt, van IJzendoorn and Tiemeier,
2016).
Long-term disorders in teenagers due to family situations
Because of the family situations, the teenagers have some long-term effects such as anxiety
issues. The problem of anxiety or anxiety disorder is while anxious feelings-
1. are constantly very strong as well as strict
2. are so upsetting that they interference with the learning of youth, socializing as well as
capability for conducting daily things
3. go on for the week, months or more longer
Anxiety disorders may be particularly serious for the youngster, for the reason that young
persons are still developing. If left unprocessed, the anxiety disorders in teenager may have long-
run consequences for the development as well as mental health (Simsek, Tascı and Karabulut,
2015).
Research methodology-
Introduction
The introduction chapter of the report can be useful for selecting the proper techniques for doing
the research study in an effective manner. The research methods of research involve some
significant factors like research philosophies, method of data collection, research approaches as

well as research design that helps in getting the accurate information in relation to the issue of
research.
Research Philosophy
The research philosophy has important role to create the balanced reasoning for assessing,
collecting and operating information regarding the study. The key aim of research philosophy is
to implement views regarding the problem of research in doing the research study. There are two
types of research philosophy. These are interpretivism philosophy along with positivism
philosophy. For the research study, the research has performed both interpretivism philosophy
and positivism philosophy. The interpretivism philosophy is used for enhancing the research’s
quality. The main cause of the research philosophy is related to condition of thoroughness that
assists to attain the correct as well as dependable data (Bozatil, et. al, 2016).
Research Approach
The research approach is so difficult. It is critical because illustrating the causes fr selecting the
specific method of research. The research approach contains two elements namely deductive
research approach as well as inductive research approach. The inductive research approach is
utilised to completely evaluate gathered data and supports for establishing the theoretical
understanding in relation to the problems of the research. In the contradiction of this, the
deductive approach is helpful for setting the notional installation. In the addition of this, the
deductive approach is utilised for proving the assumptions in research. On behalf of the
theoretical approach, an investigator is capable for rejecting as well as accepting the complete
research process in relation to the matter of research. For conducting the research, the researcher
will utilise the deductive approach along with inductive approach (Jellesma, 2016).

RESEARCH PROPOSAL 9
Further, for conducting research, there are no requirements of the theories. In this way, the
investigator will use the inductive method to make comparison with the deductive approach.
Furthermore, the researcher will use the inductive approach for collecting actual information
regarding the physiological problems as well as issues of development faced by children because
of the separation of the parents. The research approach is so significant for deciding the
numerous beliefs as well as views for getting the findings accurately. On the other hand, the
researcher will not implement deductive approach. The main reason of not using the deductive
approach by the investigator is improper data of research. In this way, the inductive approach has
been used for gathering data in relation to issue or concern of the research. At a same period, the
problem of research is subjective in an extent. by taking the help of this approach, the researcher
was able for gathering the concepts as well as views of the respondents regarding the research’s
problems (Vatankhah, 2018).
Research Strategy
The research strategy can also be effective for completing the research study in specific time as
well as valuable cost. The investigators have conducted survey as well as the indirect literature
reviews by the questionnaire to get objectives or aims of the research. For getting the aim of
research, the investigator may utilize some types of the research strategies such as observation,
survey through the questionnaire, experiments as well as case study. For this study, survey will
be conducted by the researcher because uit allows the researcher to collect proper amount of
information related to the factors affecting the children after the separation of their parents
(Zortul, et. al, 2018).
By using this survey strategy, the researcher is able to pool the facts and figures in minimum
time and cost. It enhances the quality of research between key stakeholders. By following the

survey strategy, the researcher will be capable for gathering the data information for taking
participation in relation to the issue of negative impacts on the teenagers because of the
separation of parents. From the part of literature review, the researcher has considered the
magazines, books, offline sources along with online sources because of developing the
understanding in relation to the problem of separation of the parents. The resources can be
helpful for the researcher for increasing the reasonableness along with reliability of the results of
the research.
Research design
For conducting the research, the researcher has utilizes the quantitative research design as well as
the qualitative research design. The qualitative research is also regarded as analytical research.
This is implied to create theoretic data in relation to the issue related to the research. In the
contradiction of this, the quantitative research design is helpful for an investigator to state the
arithmetic data by the numeric evaluation (Choudhary and Begum, 2018).
Ethical consideration
The research for this concerned issue will involve certain ethical problems like the regulations,
laws and policies must be consider at the time of making research as well as the data collection.
The conduction survey requires considering the law pertaining to data’s confidentiality. It must
also adopt ethics of taking approval before providing survey questionnaire. The assessment of
the information requires to be done by adopting the laws of evaluation. In the addition of this, it
is required by the secondary data to consider rules, regulations along with laws of the utilization
of current information. The ethical laws are essentially required to be adopted in research. It
includes the Data Protection Act that will keep the data in relation to the survey respondents not
to be disclosed. In this way, no respondent will realize the insecurity at the time of taking

RESEARCH PROPOSAL 11
approval for conducting survey. For conducting research, the ethical consideration contains to
conduct the research process in an effective manner along with following the directing principles
as well as the course of actions of University. For the reason that ignoring the ethical issue, the
investigator will perform an ethical way to conduct the research along with to resolve the
research’s issues. In addition, the researcher will put focus on some elements such as the
abolition of piracy, taking accurate references as well as the manipulation of data (Stokkebekk,
et. al, 2019).
Conclusion
As per the above analysis, it can be concluded that since the separation is very prevalent
everywhere in the world, this is difficult to know the influence on the teenagers and to develop
the manners to secure teenagers from the potentially damaging the effects. Fortunately, the
sizeable body of research in different fields surrounding the separation and parenting has already
capitulated substantial data. With the help of this research, we will know that how the separation
puts influences on the children in long term as well short term. In addition, the reader will know
the major risks as well as the defensive factors that forecast how they charge. The research study
will develop the knowledge purposely what factors in the control of parents have the greatest
influence on the teenagers, and what particular actions would have the long-lasting positive
effects on them. It can say that the proper parenting surrounding the warmth as well as
regulation, developing positive parent-child relations and handling the conflicts is the three most
significant elements to secure the teenagers. Establishing the capability to listen for the
concealed emotions of children as well as assist them articulate the emotions bring about
capability of the parents to parent properly and develop stronger relations. The interventions
