INTRODUCTION
Working in Partnership is all about the combination of two or more people who work
together to gain maximum advantage in an organisation. In health care and social service
organisations , partnership is all about group of two or more people who work together to
provide maximum benefits to their patients and with the help of available resources, they can
provide welfare to the care unit. In this assignment, we will present the philosophy of working in
partnership and evaluate the partnership relationship in health and social care services
(Chapman, 2014).
1.1 Philosophy of working in partnership in health and social care.
Four philosophies of working in partnership are:
Authorisation
Esteem
Self-determination
Knowledgeable decisions
Authorisation in health and social care units is giving authority to staff or members of
care units to make independent choices. This enables them to take independent decision and
ensures freedom. Authorisation in health and social care unit means that everyone has the
autonomy to take decisions like when to eat, where to eat, when to sleep etc. to make sure the
individuality of each and every person of the unit. In general the meaning of the term esteem is
giving and receiving respect. In social and health care units, it is important to generate respect for
the patients to make them feel like home; then only they can recover fast and healthily. On the
other hand, patients should also respect the people who are taking care of them;,patients must
talk to them nicely and not consider them as their servants. This is because it is well-known that
respect is the two way business, it's a process of give and take (Crawford,2015). The meaning of
self determination is handling own life. In social and health care centres, it is important to
maintain individuality.
The patients and all other members of the care unit must have control on their own lives
and their way of living, they should also have authority to make some changes according to their
level of comfort or they can also guide the process of management in order to make some
changes which are favourable to everyone. Knowledgeable decision making process is very

crucial for administrating care centres. It is very important for both patients and care takers to
make knowledgeable decisions. This implies that before implementing any changes, it is
important for the administrator to take outlook of each and every patient because the comfort
level and routine of each and every individual varies from one another. Patients are the best one
to decide what changes are required and what changes are not necessary, they can easily
determine that the existing routine is comfortable for them or not. The term partnership mean the
understanding among the people who are grouped together to achieve the common goals, it is a
long term relationship between the two or more people. In all sectors, partnership working is in
trends these days (Glasby, 2014). In organisations like CAMHS, Child and Adolescent Mental
Health Services, the relationship between the patients and the care takers is very smooth and
understanding. This care unit generally deal with the children, who have difficulties in
expressing their emotions and behavioural issue. In CAMHS proper training and guidance is
given to the individuals before they start dealing with the patients. The development of CAMHS
was started in 1995.
Responsibility and Resolution are key to good working partnership, it ensure that the
people who are working in an organisation have a same goal. In health and social care units it is
very important for the organisation to provide best services to their patients in terms of quality
and standard.
1.2 Partnership relations within health and social care services.
In any organisation relationships among the partners has to be very smooth for successful
growth of the organisation. It is important they are determinant towards the goals of the
organisation in order to avoid the conflicts and disputes. The different type of relationship that
occur between partners while working in a health and social care centres are: Basic Relationship,
Restricted Relationship, Relationship at will. Basic relationships, it is a relationship that occurs
between the persons who are working in the same department or team. They share basic
relationship and whenever the situation comes they stand for each other (McPherson, 2014).
It is a type of relationship where there are least chances of conflicts and disputes among
the members of the team. Restricted relationship, in this, the team interacts with each other only
on special occasions in order to discuss the financial or managerial matters. In other times, they
never interact with each other. Relationship at willis type of relationship where the interaction
takes place only when they want to interact with other, in they don't want to communicate with

each other then in that situation interaction will never happen. The running of the good
partnership has to be based on trust and responsibility, where every member of the organisation
trust each other and complete their duties with responsibility. It is necessary to generate
responsibility among them .In sectors like health and social care unit, it is important that care
takers have sense of responsibility for the patients. In CAMHS, various plans and policies are
implemented for maintaining and for building healthy relationship among the care takers and the
patients. The main aim of their team is to provide healthy and comfortable environment to their
patients and to serve best quality services.
In care units the partnership is in between three groups, the care takers, head of the care
takers and the patients (Knox, 2015). The conflict free partnership between the higher authorities
enables care takers to work properly with full responsibilities and clear picture of their duties.
The good relationship among the partners of the health and service care units ensures that the
organisation is going in the right direction. Healthy relationship can also be termed as a group of
people who are highly motivated towards their goals and ready to take stand for each other
whenever it is required (Glasby, 2017). Good team work in health care and social care units
ensures security, safety and genuine care to the people of the service centre.
CONCLUSION
From the above assignment, it can be concluded that working in partnership in health and
social care centres is based on mutual understanding and trust. It is important that care takers and
the patients maintain healthy relationship. This has been seen that in an organisation, various
kinds of partnerships are present and especially in health and social care units, the partnership
should be based on ethics. It has also been seen that for efficient and effective working of the
organisation, team work is important. There are various policies, principles, concepts and
philosophies are present that are related to working in partnership and care units can use these
theories to ensure effective working of the organisation. In health and social care units, team
work is really very essential for providing quality of services to their patients. In such entities,
the sense of responsibility and determination is very important and care takers should treat their
patients with full respect and harmony. CAMHS deals with special children, so it is very
necessary for their team to understand the fact that each and every individual is different and
they should treat them accordingly. The understanding between the team is very important to
