INTRODUCTION
Organisational behaviour consist of several theories and models and all these theories and
models provide several solutions and ways through which organisation can enhance its
behaviour. This report will discuss about path-goal theory and situational resistance and its
application in Hays Travel.
Path-goal theory model
Path goals theory is based on styles of leader that best fits for employees and the
environment of organisation in order to achieve goals of the organisation. The objective in this is
to increase morale and motivation of the employees and empowering them so that they can
become productive members of the organisation (Farhan, 2018). The path-goal theory is based
on three elements that are-
Determination of employee and environmental characteristics
Selection of leadership style
Focusing on motivational factors that will help employees in success
Based on these aspects leadership style in this theory can be of four types that are-
Directive
Supportive
Participative
Achievement-oriented
Activities that are undertaken by the leaders according to this theory are-

Situational resistance
Situational resistance describes about resistance through members within which their
behaviour on the ground challenge the approach of leadership to sustain the organisation’s
identity. It aims to conserve the present identity of the firm is then counter resistance. Situational
resistance means can be easily acknowledges when it can be applied to a membership firm that
can be responding to the requirements of employees of firm. According to the modern
democratic state responds the requirements of the citizen as well as being state actor within an
ecosystem. It suggests that preferences of the individuals regarding its current status quo that
hinder the adoption as well as consideration of new products (Beşliu, 2018). Situational
resistance focuses on the resistance through its members within which their behaviour can be
sustain the identification n of the entity. To focuses on the growing demands of the members of a
firm and as three kinds of alignments can be discussed. Such as role culture can be expected
through leadership can be over determining regarding how roles must be taken through its

through its transition period and in this it also required to deal with situations of Covid-19. On
the basis of this theory leaders at Hays Travel can adopt correct leadership style in which they
need to understand environment which is difficult and complex and employees. This is equally
challenging and complex for the employees as they have started working for Hays Travel and the
situation became critical through Covid-19 (Olowoselu, bin Mohamad and Mohamed Farag
Mohamed Aboudahr, 2019). Ensuring employees are aware with objectives that are new and
they are also required to clarify path. Those who are not new they need to clearly define
objectives and leaders will require applying two different styles for new and existing employees.
