REFLECTION 2
Reflection
Gibb's cycle is used in the reflection of various aspects of the nursing practice. In this
scenario, Gibb’s cycle was used to explain the contribution of the nursing practice and
professional interaction with a patients’ health outcome. In the scenario, a patient is scheduled
for hip surgery, and he does not understand the physiotherapy requirements. He inquires about
the physiotherapy services through me. I explained the cost of the physiotherapy and the possible
implications
In my opinion, I feel that I did a great job of explaining the requirements of
physiotherapy. As a nurse, I played a significant role in calming the patient’s fears. Upon
evaluation of the activity, the client did not have enough patient information, which was leading
to anxiety. However, through my actions and response, the client was able to receive clarity for
his concerns (Crisp, Taylor, Douglas, & Rebeiro 2013, p 85).
Analysis of what happened shows that I am hardworking. Since, I was not sure about the
information, I went the extra mile to consult with another registered nurse to obtain accurate
information, and this was a good strategy. I also encouraged the physiotherapist to come and talk
to the patient to clear any doubts he may still have. The situation could have been improved by
sharing the information with the patient’s family (Clarke, Gray, White, Duncan, & Baumle 2016,
p 52)
In conclusion, nurses play a major in providing patient information. In future, I will try
and build a therapeutic relationship with their patients, which will encourage the patients to share
their concerns. The action plan for future practice is that patient information should also be given
