dependent on their surroundings and experiences which is very unusual for people to hold a

Please tell us about understanding of Person Centred Experiential (PCE) therapy.

based on humanistic-existential psychology. The idea behind the approach is that people are self-
motivated and encouraged in order to attain their goals and function positively if all the
conditions in their lives are supportive and in their favour. This theory was given by the Carl
Roger who was a psychotherapist and a writer; he gave two books on the same and worked a lot
in the field of education (Murphy and Joseph, 2019). Carl Roger was nominated for Nobel peace
prize for his contribution to the world of psychology. He is still considered as one of the most
influential psychologists of all time and many for the psychologists take him as their inspiration.
The main idea behind Person Centred Experiential (PCE) therapy is that it is a theory of
actualising tendency. It states that people are self-motivated in order to be most potential and live
life as a successful human being or individual. These kind of persons who are encouraged
themselves are always open and eager to learn new things in their lives, they will be very excited

Please write in detail about the ways in which PEC approaches relates to your own personality
and experiences.
Person Centred Experiential (PCE) therapy is related to the behaviour of individual of
being motivated by themselves, take responsibilities of their actions and build close relationships
with others. This approach is related to me and me as a human being in a way because I am also,
of a open nature and keep myself motivated (Nye and et. al., 2019). In my past experiences in my
job role I have learned many new things out of which some of them are pre-existed in me and
few of them are developed or the results of my regular learning attitude. I am willing to work
with approach of regular learning and open mind. I am always willing to learn new things and be
motivated which helped me in developing new skills and talents within myself and that
ultimately helped me move forward in my career. My personality was positively affected by the
implication of this approach I made connections with new people, developed healthy relationship
with them and took many good steps in my personal and professional life (Murphy, 2019). This
approach fit me and my personality, as I am a regular learner, takes all responsibility of my
action either personal or professional and is create healthy relationships with everyone who is
around me which keep the work environment positive and safe.
Please tell us what you think the emotional demands of this programme will be for you
personally.
According to me personally I think that the program is person centric and about building a
relationship between the client and the therapist. Therefore it is very important for a therapist to
be emotionally very strong and do not gets carry away from the session with the individual in
their person emotions. I think that the therapist needs to be very strong emotionally and keep
there a balance between understanding the situation and state of the person for providing them
that are solutions and understanding their current environment. The therapist should be very
balance with their emotions as you provide them an understanding of the situation through which
declined is suffering accordingly provide them a appropriate solution so that they can move
towards personal development growth and flourishing better life.
Please tell us about your strengths and weaknesses as a helper.
A helper is a individual who helps others in their lives to move forward and remove any bad

the relative of individual or their friends for their parents their siblings and professional helper

who can be a therapist. The strength of a helper is that they personally know the individual or by
time create an understanding about them they can easily provide person solutions about their
problems which are effective and helpful for them for the whole life. Strength of a helper is that
he or she is very flexible and open with the person and accept their problems with a open minded
thinking rather than judging them on their personal issues and making them feel more complex.
The strength is gained by helper with a lot of practice and foremost a lot of understanding and
experiences of different people by helping them and by genuinely caring for them. But weakness
of a helper is they can only help individual to a particular extent once an individual do not want
to help themselves then a therapist or a helper cannot influence them for leading a better life by
keeping their problems aside. Weakness of a helper can also related to some analytical and
professional skills because sometimes the problem of an individual is more needed to be solved
by a professional rather than an individual who do not hold any skills to do so and therefore it
becomes a weakness of a helper if they are not dealt with those professional skills.
Please tell us what is your understanding of personal development is within the programme.
Personal development is considered as an productive activity where people make efforts to
develop their personality and move further in their lives towards their desired goals and
objectives. Development is of two types one way the individual develops their personality for
moving forward in their careers by learning more professional skills and abilities on the other
hand second type of personal development is when people develop their personalities to become
a better person and lead a better life. Therefore, i believe that this counselling programme is one
the most potential and beneficial counselling programme through which individuals can
personally develop and enhance themselves for moving towards that desires and goals in better
manner by removing the reflection of their bad past experiences and relationships.
Please tell us what you understand by the term ‘therapeutic use of self’.
