In order to develop future direction and plan a course of action for attainment of various
future goals, it is important that a personal development plan is created. The present report
describes the significance of personal development plan, short term, medium term and long term
goals along with personal examples. In addition to this impact of Author, Purpose, Reliability
and Relevance on a source is identified with evaluation of various sources.

The idea of personal development refers to the continuous process of enhancing one’s
capabilities, increasing opportunities, developing employability and setting objectives in
accordance with the skill set in order to attain maximum potential in academic, personal and
professional aspect. This is because it aims for perpetual betterment in every field weather it is
professional career, personal life or academic journey (Lejeune, Beausaert and Raemdonck,
2018).
The process of leaning to gain or maintain credentials required for gaining professional
career advancement such as academic qualifications, certifications, informal opportunities to
gain field experience is defined as professional development. The aim of professional
development is to attain career based objectives of an individual.
Description and discussion on importance of short term goals
Short term goals are defined as simple goals which need to be accomplished before the
time frame of 3 months. The simplistic nature of such goals assists in swift completion of the
goal. Short term goals are often attained by repetition of a simple task so that the task becomes a
part of the daily habits of an individual (Li, Johnsen and Canelas, 2021).
The importance of short term goals is that such types of objectives help an individual
attain long term objectives which are complicated by taking small steps in direction of attain the
long term goal of the individual.
