CRITICAL REFLECTION ON PECHA KUCHA
Role I have played:
I played the role of a leader or critical strategy maker while doing this Pecha Kucha
presentation. It was a team effort. According to the rules, I had to play the role of a leader and
communicate my ideas related to corporate Social responsibility of company. It was a
challenge to me. As in case of Pecha Kucha, there have to be only 20 slides. All 20 slides will
contain 20 different pictures relevant to the message that the presenter is trying to
communicate. The time limit is 20 seconds per slide. Hence my role was to communicate the
ideas related to Corporate Social Responsibility through 20 images incorporate within 20
slides. Moreover, the message depicted in through each image should be connected
seamlessly with the apt as well as logical script, which was needed to be narrated by me.
Assuming myself as a leader of a company, I need to play the role of a demonstrator of
corporate social responsibility strategies, on behalf of the company. I had to do this through
the concise as well as fast paced presentation called-‘Pecha Kucha’ and, as per the rules of
Pecha Kucha , I only had 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present my ideas.
What did I communicate?
All through the Pecha Kucha presentation, I communicated things which I have learnt
from Kaplan Business School Australia. Kaplan Business School Australia has taught us that
the base of the Corporate Social responsibility is the philosophy-‘Make business work for
people and planet’. Hence, I have added pictorial evidences as the evidence for this business
philosophy.
According to the academic literature which we studied in Kaplan Business School, the
term corporate social responsibility, refers to the procedures adopted by companies to
manage business activities in a way which help them in creating overall positive impact on
the society. CSR can be considered as a business model which is regulated by the company

itself. This model suggests a company to stay socially accountable, especially to the
stakeholders as well as the public.
Next, I added pictorial slides that depict impact of social responsibility. In the Pecha
Kucha presentation, I have tried to demonstrate the several kinds of impacts that a company
can create on economic, social as well as environmental aspects. This includes how the CSR
activities illuminate the brand image of a company. The pictorial representations also focus
on the different types of stakeholders, stockholders and shareholders, and how activities of
Corporate Social Responsibility influence them. Other factors included in the Pecha Kucha
presentation are:
Recruitment
Improvement of reputation for a business.
Satisfaction to the customer
Respondents Demographics – Levels of Designation
Employees Perception about CSR
Ethics and morals
Overall impacts on society.
What did I learn?
All through the project I have learnt presentation skills. My knowledge about
Corporate Social Responsibilities and their impacts have been increased a lot. Team spirit or
team work has been developed. Collaboration and cooperation with team have been increased
a lot. My strategic decision making as well as patience have been developed. Good
communication skill and understanding have been developed. I have also learnt to face
challenges. I am more capable of managing risks now. I have learnt to solve problems of

coordination among the team. I have learnt to motivate the team to work hard and achieve the
overall as well as individual goals.
Challenges faced by me and the team
The challenges faced while carrying on the project and how I overcome them
Undefined Goals-At the beginning, the goal for making the presentation was not
clearly defined or discussed among the team. For this reason, the progress of the
project was not systematic. As the goals were not clearly defined. Proper planning for
executing the project was not made.
The change of scope- Due to the substantial difference between the changes in the
scopes as in the theoretical as well as practical fields, it had become a challenge to me
to execute the presentation properly.
Inadequate Skills for the Project- I have to deal with unskilled people. Some of the
members of the team were not knowledgeable enough to contribute to a Pecha Kucha
presentation. Initially. I faced problems to train them, later they have put much effort
in the successful completion of the project.
Lack of Accountability- During the project work, I have to face people who lacks
accountability. This created some major obstacles in the progress of the project and
resulted in an increased in the expense. Due the dearth of accountability on the part of
some people related to the project, the project work becomes time consuming.
Improper Risk Management- I was engaged with the designing part of the
presentation. This is the reason why I was not able to look after all other spheres like
risk management. Hence, there were phases, in which the execution of the project was
at risk. As most of us lacked risk management skills, initially, it had become the

toughest challenge to us to manage risks. Later with the passage of time we gained
experience in managing all kinds of risks related to a project.
Ambiguous Contingency Plans- Initially The ambiguity and contingency in planning,
which we faced during the initial periods of undertaking the project could be
attributed to the lack of time given by all the members. Later this ambiguity and
contingency were removed as all of the members understood that they need to devote
more time to make the presentation successful.
Poor Communication- I had to deal with issues related to miscommunication, poorer
understanding about the core topic. This put me into trouble at first and also made me
worried about the completion of the presentation. In that situation I kept patience and
made the team understood the importance of communicating well and understanding
the perspective of other team members, difference between good and bad
communication. Thus I with the cooperation of the team members overcame all the
challenges faced to execute the presentation.
Impossible Deadlines-Initially, the stipulated deadline for the project seemed
impossible to all of us. This fear of missing deadline made us more nervous initially.
We were not able to focus on the project as we were nervous. Gradually we realise we
need to motivate and unite all the members that they will be able to take their
respective responsibilities and the project will be completed within deadline if we
work together as a team and understands each other’s perspective well. In this way
when we are able to boosted up our team spirit, we were able to meet the deadline
which we seemed impossible previously.
Resource Deprivation- I also faced the deprivation of resources while carrying on the
project. This included dearth in the materials required for the project, interruption in
the internet connection, lack of time and paucity in the management skills, lack of

guidance, dearth in the funds. In spite of all these, I was determined that I would not

completion of the project.
