INTRODUCTION
Management can be defined as a set of activities which is directed for effective and
efficient utilisation of resources for attainment of goals or objectives of organisation. Effective
management is define as a integrated set of management tools and processes which helps in
aligning annual objectives having daily actions, strategy of company, analysing progress and
take corrective actions (Banfield, Kay and Royles, 2018). It empowers and guide employees &
managers for driving process improvement each and every day.
In this report, Sainsbury Plc, is considered. This organisation is second largest chain of
supermarket in UK having 16% share of supermarket segment. This organisation was founded in
1869 having a shop in Dury Lane, London by this company become largest retailer store in 1992.
This report covers contemporary issues which are faced by managers of company.
Furthermore, it also includes skills, behaviours and knowledge which are needed fir an effective
people manager. Moreover, it covers process of HR which underpin and supports management
for effective management performance.

Contemporary issue is define as issue which currently effect places and people which are
unresolved. It is any event, opinion, topic or idea in given subject which is relevant to present
day. Due to uncertainty like Covid-19 which has crushed economy, employees comes under
stressful situation so for this HR professional try to overcome these issues by providing them
relevant help as they are needed (Wilson, 2018). Due to this sudden shift in work culture there
are many challenges which are faced by HR managers. The priority of HR professional is crisis
response and in what manner they keep to engaged employees in working environment of
organisation. There are some top challenges which are faced by HR managers by Covid-19 are
discussed below: Consent with regulations and laws: This issue is considered as a major issue that
company is facing. In this point, firm faces issue which is related to changing in
employment laws. In this manager have to highly focus on implementing laws which are
related to employees well being in company so by this prominent outcomes will be attain
(Anderson and et. al., 2018)). This consent helps company by guiding them for

achievement of goals which is based on sustainability and profits. In terms of Sainsbury
Plc, manager of company are not effectively focus on team members as by being not
emphasis on regulations and laws having relation to worker well being. So for this UK
government announced for increase salary of their labours which are made to regulate
some regulations and rules (Wangwacharakul, Berglund and Harlin, 2020). In context of
Sainsbury, managers are not following this, by this goals & objectives are not attained in
given time period. So for overcome this issue, Sainbury Plc, managers are highly
emphasis on national, local and state laws which have relation to work safety, employee
pay which leads to satisfy workers and company get positive in return from them. Workplace Diversity: This point reflects as in organisation there are many members are
working which have several ethnic differences and culture. So by this line manager
faces many issues for managing people in effective manner. In regards to Morrison's as
organisation is deals in market globally and in this global market there are many ethnic
groups and culture of employees who are working so by this company can face problems
for managing various team members in equally which leads to complexity. So for solving
this issue complexity issue, company focuses on generating team work and develop
working environment in positive terms (Kamphuis, 2020). In addition , managers also
implement different training activities for their staff members which can be managed in
well manner. Management changes: This issue mainly face by line manager which is related to
managing well being of staff members. In today's scenario of micro and macro
environment of business are focus on implementing changes in their structure, processes
and culture which helps in gaining higher growth in company. But on other hand
employees are not accept changes easily as they are facing more problems which leads to
morale and productivity of employees which is decreased. In terms of Tesco, managers
are focusing on implementing changes in industry which helps in gaining high returns. So
for this manager have to pass orders to their staff members for accepting the changes
without communicating with them in effective manner this will leads to creation of loss
and also generate conflicts in working place. So for solving this issue managers have
responsibility for communicating with team members by doing staff meetings,
counselling which helps workers to accept changes and work in effective manner.

below: Good communicators: In this manager have to highly focus on offering effective

which helps in reducing the uncertainty. This leads to high quality outcomes to company
and by this manager take decision in efficient and effective manner. In terms of Marks &
Spencer, if leader & manager transfer data & information which is related to procedures
and policies of leaders than this leads to effectively pass by staff members and this results
in high profitability (Duckert, Schnor and Rasmussen, 2019). Motivators: In this element, manager have high knowledge about motivation for
employees in organisation. So for this managers are highly focus on encouraging their
staff members in relation to completing task in non monetary and monetary forms. This
leads to satisfying employees and also increase in performance level of staff members
which helps in gaining high profits. For example, Tesco manager generally emphasis on

in proficient manner. On other hand motivation also helps in increase productivity of staff
members by this manager effectively manage their environment for long term. Leadership: In this, there is prominent leadership skill which is reflected in people
management so by this they can enjoy high solutions in productive manner. In this
leaders are highly motivate their staff members which helps in representing good things.
For example, management of Tesla, have high leadership skill and by this they are
influence their team members for adopting changes in positive and frequent manner. In
addition, it also helps in maintaining positive culture in organisation.
