1PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Task 1:
The description of any job outlines the role, responsibility and eligibility of the required
position of job (Breaugh, 2017). A good and clear job description can attract competent and
eligible candidates for the job. In addition, the proper job description ensures the quick filling up
of the post for which the description has been given. There are some key features that signify a
good job description (Pató, 2013). These features are:
Job Summary:
The very first feature of the job description is the precise and clear summary of the job. The
summary of the job must entail the specific role and responsibility required for the job.
Role and Responsibility:
Just after the job summary the description of the job must specify the roles and responsibilities
the candidate applying for the job has to perform. This section should follow specific format and
must be understandable to the candidates.
Eligibility:
After the brief overview about the job the next section of the job description must provide the
educational and professional qualification required for the job. This section must contain the
clear and specific job eligibility.
Salary and Benefits:
The section after the eligibility detail needs to be a brief overview of the salary and benefits
details that the company will provide to the candidate selected for the job.
Document Page
2PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
Company Information:
Last section of the job description must be the information about the company with the contact
details.
The job description is used basically as a hiring tool in recruitment process. Apart from
this main function, the job description is used in many ways such as performance management,
training and employee development, compensation, recognition and rewards, return-to-work
programs, essential job function analysis and so on (5 Uses for a Job Description - focushr.,
2017).
It is evident from the above brief section that a good job description must follow some
key characteristics that not only adds value to the job but also is able to attract number of
employees for the job. It is also clear from the essay that the job use of job description is not
limited in the hiring process, but also refers to a wider context.

Task 5:
Assessment Methods for Selecting Administrative Officer in Children Department:
Among the four selection criteria, which are qualification, experience, professional skills
and personal skill, the employer while selecting the Administrative Officer for the children
department in the NWRH must assess each (www.careercentre.dtwd.wa.gov.au. 2017).
Qualification is the first criteria in the selection process. The applicants must have the
fundamental and primary knowledge and ability while applying for the given post. However, the
practical experience is the priority for the post, but NWRH also focuses on the basic education
that requires the candidates to have completed undergraduate degree from any registered
university and must have certificate in health service and diploma degree in administrative
course.
The professional experience is one of the major and prior criteria for the applicants.
NWRH is seeking candidates with a good experience in multidisciplinary hospital and in
administrative service so that the candidates if selected do not have to learn the process of the
job. The hospital is also searching for candidates having good experience in customer service, as
because the job demand customer handling as the prior responsibility (unicentre.uow.edu.au.,
2017).
Apart from the mandatory requirement for being eligible for applying for the advertised
post, the additional criteria require some skills in the applicants. The professional skills like
handling difficult situation, problem solving skills, accountability for own mistakes and
management of the team and others come from the experience (Younger, 2013). Personal skills

Task 7:
Selection Panel:
Administrative Officer is undoubtedly one of the respectful and responsible jobs. In
addition, being the Administrative Officer for the children department requires ability and sense
of responsibility in the candidate. Hence, for the screening of the candidate requires specialized
persons to assess the qualities, eligibilities and skills of the candidates (Schuler, Farr & Smith,
2013). The interview process will include three stages where the each stage will be higher from
the previous one and evaluate specific criteria for the job in the applicants (Administrative
Officer interview questions template, 2017). Each stage of the selection will be assessed by
different members of the interview panel.
The first stage of the interview will be taken by the Assistant manager of the NWRH and
the interview will be both written and verbal test. If the candidates qualify the initial round of
interview, that will be then assessed by the general manager (GM) of the hospital, who will take
a short viva of the candidates. If the GM thinks of the candidates to be eligible enough to take
charge of the administration of the hospital, the candidates will be appearing for the final round
of interview by the Human Resource Manger of the Hospital. The HR will lastly take a general
interview of the candidates and if selected will give the appointment letter to them (Gatewood,
Feild & Barrick, 2015). Each of the members in the team is important because each will take
interview on the different skills and abilities of the candidates (Yawn et al., 2014).
