Kazakhstan Nursing Perception: High School Student Research Report

INTRODUCTION
 The different perceptions regarding the nursing profession among the high school
students in Kazakhstan are studied. Also, the factors which influence the perspective of
students for choosing nursing as career are studied.
 Yes, the research is motivated as it gave new direction to the perception of high school
students, to address the issue of recruitment of nursing students and the significance of
nursing education and practices. It gives motivation to all the nurses by giving them value
and respect as they play a major role by treating various diseases of patients (Ha, 2017).
 The main purpose of the research is to evaluate the perception of high school students
regarding the nursing as career and profession and to change their thoughts of
considering the job of nurse as dishonourable job to the most respected and valued one.
The research questions to be questioned as about the perceptions of the high school
students regarding the profession of nurse and the factors which hinders or fosters them
to choose nursing as a career. There are no limitations described in the research.
 The basic concepts were defined excellently as along with every statement the reason
behind it was given which increases the efficiency of the research.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
 The problem raised was that the students are not given primary education about nursing
so they do not have any idea about the profession of nursing which forces them to depend
on parents and others. Incorrect perceptions and the unrealistic expectations are the
serious problems which results in nursing shortages.
 Yes, the writer referred to various databases like Google scholar, PubMed, CINAHL and
Janet in which the articles chosen were more than 100 in number. They were according to
the topic which helped in gaining deeper insights about the topic some in favour while
other in against.
 Yes, they are connected as in introduction the image of nursing profession was described
and the same is mentioned in the theoretical framework as the perspective of high school
students. Likewise, in introduction, factors which affects the choice of profession is also
studied in the theoretical framework.

 The research plan helped in finding solutions to the problems as it included the views and
opinions of other scholars and also the views of high school students through primary
research. The excellent evaluation was done.
EMPIRICAL PART AND CONCLUSIONS
 Quantitative research was used by surveying the high school students through
questionnaires. They were used to analyse the opinions of the students regarding the
nursing profession.
 Reliability was maintained by using the questionnaire with the same students who were
undergoing training and was caring the patient. Validity was also maintained as the
internal consistency of PPNT was verified.
 The author answers that the high school students are influenced by family, friends or
others and consider the nurse job as disrespectful (Mai and et.al., 2018). They must be
given primary education so that they value the profession and chose it as career.
 The results of this research were obtained as the students are less aware of the nursing
profession and its importance for which the focus must on the role of nurses and positive
image must be created. In the previous studies, the result in some previous studies were
that the nurse job is considered and disrespectful while in some they are treated as angels.
 It can be learnt from the work that the government must also treat the profession with
respect and dignity as many students due to economic problem do not opt this due to
receiving less grants and nursing as an important profession must be taught to students
(Minogue and Wells, 2016). This was justified by taking the responses of the high school
students.
 Yes, by testing the questionnaire with many other students who were under training. The
information gathered was relevant to the topic which helped in obtaining significant
conclusions.
 Yes, by expanding the scope of research in other regions and schools.
OVERALL ASSESSMENT OF WORK
 The professional competencies gained are initiative, energy, loyalty, team work,
flexibility etc.

 The research motivated the people to value a profession which saves the life of people.
It also gave new direction to the perspectives of students regarding the nursing
profession.
 Nursing must be involved in the curriculum of students so that they become aware of it
and builds a positive perception towards it (Donmez and Ozsoy, 2016). There can be
more researches by surveying the other schools and areas.
Parents and family members of the students must also be involved so that they can
influence their child to value the nursing profession and choosing it as career.
