My Last Meal
My last meal would be large quantities of foods that I tell myself that I “Shouldn’t have” mostly
due to their health implications. The question of what would be your last meal is a question that
we hardly ask ourselves, but have been a common question especially for those facing prison
death row. Some of them, actually most of them, are caught by surprise as they do not know
whether to have the best-made chicken in the world, the best-smoked shrimps or the best-cooked
beef.
A cheeseburger would be my last meal of choice. This American original classic never
disappoints. A bite through the fluffy brioche bun into layers of tangy toppings and a center that
is juicy and meat-filled would be memorable. This would make me forget that this is the last
meal!
I choose cheeseburger because I want to be the one preparing it in the company of my dad and
two or three of my college buddies. We would all take part in the preparations of the meal while
having “The last talk” – reminiscing with nostalgia. Cheeseburger brings back the joyful
connection of my family and close friends back to me. A cheeseburger would go a long way as
we chit chat with my buddies.
Of course, I would want the environment to be one that I am familiar with like somewhere I am
used to spending time at. I prefer a cool backyard at night with just enough lighting or at the
balcony with a beautiful view of the surroundings. It has to be at night, the silence of the night,
the serene environment and the cool breeze would be calming.
The cheeseburger is easy to make and its ingredients readily available in my locality. It is also a
meal that would make me most satisfied as well as make my company happiest to share with me.
In the company of my two college buddies and my dad, we would prepare fries as
accompaniments for our cheeseburgers. I choose chips as they would present us with the chance
to cook them. Chopping potatoes and slicing them into small pieces before adding them into
steaming-hot cooking oil.
To accompany the cheeseburger, I would have me and my friends share a bottle of Irish-
Whiskey. We are not much of drinkers, but since we are talking about my last meal, then the
whiskey would be in excess. A bottle for everyone! How does that sound? Great.
The preparation of the cheeseburger and preparing the fries would give us enough bonding time
as we partake this last meal. My friends would probably be too drunk and would only be talking
about how he hated Maths or hated this physics teacher from high school. This being the last
meal probably before execution would create memories that would be worth carrying to the
grave.
The cheeseburger, the cool breeze and the silence of the night, taking whiskey with two or three
friends would make my last meal the best meal of my life.
