Executive summary
In the modern era, managing and maintaining people in long run is not easy task for
businesses. It can be stated that in order to sustain in highly competitive marketplace, it is
required by companies to retain its talented and skills workers for long run. For this purpose
businesses carry out performance appraisals, offers various bonuses to workers and providing
them with better working conditions. However, it can be critically argued that carrying out
performance appraisal and offering bonuses is not an easy task and companies are required to
face wide range of challenges in the same.
Understanding
According to the provided case scenario, Welsh Utilities Regulator (WUR) is a public
company which was founded in the year 2004. Furthermore, the company’s business practises
includes carrying out regulation water, gas, sewerage and electricity within industries in Wales.
Over the past few years, the company is offering bonus to employees but this year the workers
has not able to deliver satisfactory performance and this has created obstacles in front of the
company. Along with this, the financial position of Welsh Utilities Regulator (WUR) does not
allow the company to provide bonus to its workers.
The best solution to this problem is that instead of providing full bonus the company can
provide half of the overall bonus percentage. Future a meeting can be conducted to inform
workers that this has been done because the employees are not able to achieve the objectives.
Open discussions can be carried out by Welsh Utilities Regulator (WUR) in order to deal with
this problem. Providing half bonus will help in eliminating the chances of making workers
completely dissatisfied and will also make them realize the impact of their dissatisfactory
performance on financial condition of company.
