The process of employee performance review also known as the performance evaluation
or performance appraisal represents formal assessments where the managers evaluates the
performance of employees, identifies their weakness and strengths and sets the goals for future
performance (Cappelli & Tavis, 2016).
The stages of the employee performance review are as follows (Cascio, 2014):
1. Establishment of Performance Standard: The process of performance review begins
with finding the expectations as well as the standards. The first step lies in setting criteria that

would assist the manager and determine whether the performance of employees have been
satisfactory. Hence, the manager should set concise, clear, realistic, comprehensible and
measurable criteria.
2. Undertaking Employee Communication: The managers should undertake clear
communication of the standards to the employees. Although the standards are mentioned in the
manuals but there must be a particular process of on boarding for summarizing the expectations
of the company.
3. Measurement of Employee Performance: Managers should undertake review on a
regular basis and track the employees’ performance. They must undertake weekly review of the
schedules. They must also determine the frequency of the performance standards depending on
how it influences the business environment.
4. Comparison to all the Employee Metrics: The employers mostly set the performance
standards depending on the industry data and experience. It has been noted that every business
and employees are different. Hence, comparison of an employee against others who performs
similar tasks provides the manager an insight to the underlying issue if any.
5. Employee Feedback: The performance review process must ensure effectiveness of
employees. It is therefore necessary to sit down with every single employee in order to review
standard expectations and provide required feedback regarding his/her performance and areas
that requires improvement. Here, it is necessary to write all the feedback in objective terms and
speak to the employees in positive and professional manner.

3. Memo from Human Resource Manager to Employees
To: Employees of Commonwealth Bank of Australia
From: Manager of Human Resource
Date: April 06, 2019
Subject: Outlining Employee Performance Review Process
Dear Employees,
I as the human resource manager would like to outline the performance review process of
employees. The review process is meant for the benefit of the employees and the employer.
The first step would include assessing the workforce and the occupations. The performance
review process is tailored for meeting the needs of workforce.
The second step would include a corrective action or disciplinary policy method. This step would
also involve the managers and supervisors to handle performance issues that arise and the
documents that are used for tracking the performance that mostly fall below the expectations of
the company.

The third step would involve reviewing the job descriptions and creation of the performance
standards for duties listed for each of the descriptions. This step also indicates the performance
level that falls short of the expectations of the company.
The fourth step involves the selection of the type of the performance
appraisal form that appropriately suits the workforce. Graphic rating scales
have been most appropriate as they are easy to complete.
The fifth step involves in drafting the training models for the managers and
the supervisors. Leadership training involves discussion about the
importance of performance management, evaluation of employees and
conduction of the face to face meetings with the employees for delivering
performance appraisals.
The last step involves the development of the employee training for performance appraisal.
Please consider the above employee performance review process for ensuring greater assistance.
Let me know if you all have any further query.

5. Employee Review Form:
The employee evaluation form represents a document used for measuring the workplace
performance of the employees (Fekete & Rozenberg, 2014). The key to success of the
performance management process lies in having proper evaluation forms of the employees. Most
of the review forms include the evaluation of employee performance in the following areas
which includes, accuracy and quality of work, ability of meeting the deadlines and the
established goals, teamwork, communication and collaboration skills, skills related to problem
solving and dependability and attendance (Drogomyretska, 2014). Nevertheless, an efficient
performance review is written by focusing on providing informal and regular feedback, by being
honest, by doing things in a face to face manner, by using pertinent and tangible examples, by
choosing the words with care and by choosing words carefully. A sample of performance review
form of an employee is mentioned as follows:
