PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AT KS CLEANERS
Answer to 1- Prerequisite refers to any course or training that an individual undergo
before the actual trial in order to be allowed for pursuing the next level of the test (Pan et al.,
2017). It is basically done for making sure that all the participants are learned well and are
capable enough for proving that they have completed the earlier course in the other levels.
According to Schulze et al. (2016), there are two important prerequisites that are required
prior to the implementation of performance management. They are- a) the knowledge of the
mission and strategic goals of organisation and b) the knowledge of the job in question.
For the KS cleaners, there are several prerequisites that are used for the
implementation of the output of the process of management in order to make sure that there is
a perfect output. KS cleaners provide low work output to its customers through cleaning,
laundry and ironing along with the other services. This indicates several important pieces of
training that can empower the employees to sacrifice some of their daily activities for serving
their best to their customers. Although KS cleaners is a low profiting company, the case study
demonstrate that it actually have got a high level of output in terms of job service to its
customers.
Furthermore, it is also expanding its business as of the increase in demand and
increase in customer numbers for the good job done by the company and its employees. This
further indicates that the firm is investing in the prerequisites prior to employing its
customers and due to this reason, the job output of the company is significantly maximising.
It is to mention that the Form IV leavers of KS cleaners have passed different courses in
order to fit well with the job role. Due to this reason, these workers are also equipped with
different skills and knowledge in different areas and this enable them to become perfect in
terms of production.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AT KS CLEANERS
Businesses like KS Cleaners that provide laundry services, do not require many
prerequisites. Still, the manager of the company, Mr. Kelvin ensures that all the employees at
the firm are undergoing the training process for successfully instilling great abilities and
skills in order to perform their job as expected. The company also recruit teenagers for
performing simple tasks and managing their tender skills while gaining more experience in
cleaning and laundry.
To conclude, it can be said KS cleaners is effectively performing in the market and
the credit goes to its great investment in the prerequisites as this have enabled the company’s
workers to become well-versed with their job role. However, it should also focus on pre-
training courses too.
Answer to 2- Being a business advisor for Mr. Kelvin I have developed certain plans
for developing formal job descriptions for the employees at the second shop of KS Cleaners. I
believe these are likely to bring potential and capable candidates in the new shop who will
effectively maintain the business reputation that KS Cleaners has long been struggled to
develop. The plans are mentioned below:
The manager must continue investing in the prerequisites to the newly hired
candidates in order to make them gain great skills and knowledge about their job
role. This will help them in getting well acquainted with their business services
and at the same time, would enhance the output of the firm and quality of
services.
The manager should search for a branch manager who is dedicated and
committed enough to do the job effectively. He or she must be hardworking and
sociable and understand the customer needs and requirements well. With the
same, he or she must put his grievances aside and must work close with the

employees for bringing out the maximum end result for the company.
Furthermore, Kelvin must also ensure that the new branch manager is willing to
deliver the best to the customers or clients. Such things will definitely aid on to
the positive brand image of the company and will ultimately fetch a range of
customers towards the business.
Furthermore, Kelvin should look out for learned candidates such as high school
leavers who are basically well equipped with the knowledge and method of
cleaning. These candidates are likely to give their best as they will also get to
know the basics of laundry doing. The manager must ensure that the employees
efficient and well equipped with courtesy and that they must communicate
politely with all the customers. They must focus on providing the best service in
the town in order to secure the well-built reputation of KS cleaners.
Kelvin must also focus on the overall looks of his workers. After all, it is the
workers who show the face of a company (Hanif, Naqvi & Hussain, 2015).
Workers should always be well-dressed and look motivated. Demotivated
workers are likely to not do their duties accordingly. Hence, the best option in
this case is to make a uniform for the workers. Uniforms will also promote
equality and would encourage proper dress code.
The manager must ensure fair play within the company including the interview
process in order to select the best or the most suitable candidate. The recruitment
activities should be achieved according to the organisational objectives and
goals. This will ensure quality output where all the customers are likely to be
entitled to the quality service and in this way; it will make the company
successful in the market.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT AT KS CLEANERS
Answer to 3- The key features for developing performance plans for the employees are
planning, implementing, assessing and reviewing. Planning is all about setting clear
objectives and goals. Setting proper objectives and goals is the initial step that can lead the
company to increased productivity from the parts of employees and the organisation as a
whole. Also, the objectives and goals must be SMART and challenging (Taylor et al., 2014).
In the implementation phase, managers are required to link the goals of employees as well as
the organisation and at the same time, motivate the employees to attain them. Assessment is
all about assessing the progress. Frequent communication and real-time feedback are the keys
in this phase. Finally, reviewing is about reviewing the performance of the employees and
providing suggestions on the same to improve further. With the same, the plan shall also
include a thorough description of the areas that require improvement and the goals to be
achieved in every area.
Performance planning helps in matching the employee and organisation’s objectives
while identifying the expectations of the company. According to Dibrell, Cralg and Neubaum
(2014), performance planning process helps in providing consistency in the behaviour and
performance evaluation. I shall be considering different factors in the development of my
performance plans for the dry cleaners and they include:
If the clothes are spotted and cleaned promptly
Whether all the incoming clothes are cleaned by the end of the day
The target of cleaning 10 loads per day is achieved
No more than two items per day are cleaned
No more than 2 complaints from customers per month
Three or more complaints are gained from same customer
Increasing or decreasing no. of customers or clients
