INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development refers to process engage in learning to meet the
challenges and desire goal and this generally done by the organisation and individual to achieve
the objectives (Ahmed, 2018). There many benefits as it will new experiences and new skills
about the career which is chosen to succeed with greater challenges. In this report the concept of
personal and professional development is being discuss and value of short-term goals, medium-
term goals and long-term goals is evaluated and with certain personal examples of an individual.
Apart from that the value of personal and development plan is constructed with identified goals
is being analysed.

Concept of Personal and Professional Development
Personal and professional development refers to gaining new skills and experience to
enhance overall personality and it needs to be developed in every individual career (Akrivou,
Scalzo and Orón, 2020). It will increase the future growth and it helpful in development of
responsibility and avoid any stagnation in the career and will easy in climbing the success in life.
When it comes with greater opportunity the enhancement in skills and knowledge has developed
automatically and will be able to achieve growth in the future. Some of benefits of personal and
professional development in individual are as follows-
Develop new skills and knowledge- It is useful in building new experience and
developing in certain methods and enhance the confidence in individual. Managing the
proper activities and responsibility will increase the expectation to achieve the desired
growth and will foster the overall skill development.
Build confidence and credibility- This will increase the development of personality and
this will also involve the boosting in confidence and credibility in individual. The self-
confidence id improve through the better understanding of their desired skills set and will
help in improving the success in one's life career.
Improved efficiency- Due rapidly changing in the concept of educational system the
need to improve the efficiency and will help in setting the new standards. The increment
in the skills and new knowledge will help in sustain in market and stand out in the crowd.

As increasing in the competition makes every individual aware about their personality
and try to boost that in any matter (Allen-Johnson, 2017).
Keep the qualification up-to date- This is not necessary that only achieving the degre
will make someone up-to date, it is being important to develop the fresh approach and
need to reskill themselves. It is necessary to refresh the grasp and will help in to add new
skills in CV. There are many soft-skills and hard skills available in market and need to
achieve it in order to highlight yourself in the interview.
Identified the short-term goals with examples
In the development of personal and in professional career the need to identify the certain
goals is important as it helps in achieving the career growth success (Chigwedere and et.al.,
2020). There are plenty of professional opportunities are there which need to be identified and
need to pursue them in continuous basis. Values of short term goals are as follows and the
advantages are-
Goal setting- Many people were stuck by focusing on long term goals, and does not
focus on long term goals, so this become necessary to set the goals and develop in
following way. Short term goals are like stepping stones and this facilitated in closer to
long term goals and vision. As for example my short term goal is to achieving good
grades in my future exam will help me in getting better job in near future and it also
increase my academic overall grades in university.
Seeking for excellence- As it is necessary in achieving and setting goals and provide
better excellence in quality work and this will definitely going to attain my objectives.
This is necessary to build the habit of excellence and that include the new ideas and take
certain risk and surrounded with positive people (Christie and et.al., 2018). It will help
in building the connection with intellectual people and always try to improve the
expectations and raising bar for itself. As my short term goal is to improve the
communication skills and this will help me in getting the confidence and will foster the
overall personality. I am working on bringing the excellence in this skill and will going
to help me in my career growth and facilitates me in getting the better options in future.
Attending seminars and training- This helps in expert- led educational meeting that
emphasis on topic or discipline and gives ideal opportunities to study-in-depth. By
asking questions and writing notes and paying attention to the speaker will leave with

great experience and knowledge. This is will help in getting new experience of meeting
people there and advice to handle the situation effectively (Evers and et.al., 2019). My
short-term goal is to attend the seminars related to personality development as there are
speakers who are mainly focuses on communication skills, body knowledge and many
more. This will add new experience in my career and will foster my existing knowledge.
Discuss the value of medium-term goal
Medium-term goals are goals that would like to accomplish in next three to five years and
they are best types of goals as they deal with sufficient progress in career growth. It offers the
best options to an individual and most of people are basically structured the goals from the view
of point of medium-term goals (Howard and Eddy‐Imishue, 2020). This is gives values to the life
and add the priorities in changing the life situation in positive way and easy to achieve them as it
take minimum amount of time. Some of the benefits of medium-term goals in an individual are
as follows-
Helps in accumulation of savings- To build the medium-term goals are being necessary
and they used to formulate in order to take the decision for next three to five years and
majority of people are focussing on these goals. By deciding these goals they help
achieving the long-term goals for future planning. Some used to develop this in order to
maintaining the proper lifestyle for rest of the life. To set the goals it is important to think
about the savings and start planning to gather sufficient amount of savings. Savings are
saviours in life as they help in confronting the tough situation when it occurs.
Focus on career- It is important to develop the sense of responsibility to think about the
different career options and necessary for university college students to choose their
desired career and plan strategies to achieve that in near future. It could be anything that
an individual want to see itself after certain time period. As this will going to decide
whole career life and will get benefits that how things goes in life (Kroll and Dussias,
2017). I have planned for medium-term goal is to start my own business and before doing
that I has to work in any private company and get the experience of practical knowledge.
As this will help in applying in my own business and will facilitates in understanding of
new work and knowledge.
Planning for long term goals- This is necessary to think about long term goals and make
plans for it to achieve them in effective manner. This is being important to monitor

different activities and it is right time to start thinking about long-term plans. This is
necessary for every individual to think about the long term goals and make appropriate
strategies to achieve this. I have decided to make proper plans for my all long term goals
and organise them accordingly and take action to accomplish them.
Analysed the long-term goals
This is very important to clearly identify the long-term goals for future life options and
set it to achieve the main objective of life. It is necessary to identify the task that gives the sense
of happiness and well-being in many ways and able to direct the actions. It is necessary to shape
our future in positive manner and build the mind towards that to achieve the long term goals.
Some of benefits of long term goals are as follows-
Gives direction to goals- It will be beneficial to keep out goal and mind set at right
direction and at right place. It generally helps in maintaining the right goal and facilitate
in making proper plan and strategies from starting so that no problem will occur during
the achievement (Ragan, 2018). It make our mind according to the long vision and think
about the future and build the circumstances to achieve goals. I set long term to gain
success in m business plan that I want to start and want to see at bigger level. It is my
long term goal where I decided to attain full responsibility of my life and want to be
successful in business.
Achieve mindfulness- It is essential to receive the happiness in rest of life where we
find the peace in our mind racing and make it more actionable. The importance to
incorporate the practice in daily life and build the mental peace. It is necessary to present
in social interaction and create good friend circle where an individual can enjoy at fuller
level (Von Suchodoletz and et.al., 2018). I set the long term goal to start focusing on the
financial requirement and build enough saving amount for myself through I can fulfil all
my dreams like taking a trip with whole family and friends, focusing on health benefits
and maintaining better relations with everyone.
Master on skills and personality- This goal is concern with polishing the skills and
increase in the overall personality is the main aim and maintaining the effectiveness in
life. It concern with improving the normal life into better way and achieve the normal
expectations and building the positive attitude and perceptive about future years and that
need to be achieve in better and appropriate manner. I plan my long term goal is to

master my existing skills like communication skills and development of overall
personality in long term.
Development of personal and professional plan
Personal development plan is necessary to build for an individual to check the
performance and determine the action that need to be taken to achieve the desired goals (Salter
and Rhodes, 2018). This is necessary to maintaining the whole plan in very proper way and
positive manner and give the idea that how to achieve and what are the strategies for the goals.
