INTRODUCTION
Academic skills are those which led individual to become proficient learners. These skills
in build a confidence among the students to participate in the competitive activities without any
hesitation. The fruit of success is enjoyed by those individuals who possess such academic skills
(Baty, 2018). Thus, with these skills it becomes easy for the individuals to step out of their
comfort zone. This report examines the importance and roles along with the objectives of
personal and professional development in individual's life.
TASK ONE
(1) Concept of Personal and Professional Development
Personal Development means shaping the skills and knowledge of an individual in order
to enhance the quality of life. It helps to achieve the desired goals of life by making appropriate
planning in respect of career including the education, job etc. Further it maximises ones potential
to live quality life.
Whereas, Professional Development aims to enhance the meaningful skills and
knowledge to attain efficiency and effectiveness at workplace. It spot lights the areas which need
to be improved. Thus, these developments led individual to gain success and growth for long
term (Briller and Goldmacher, 2020).
(2) Value of Short-term Goals along with 3 personal examples
As stated above, setting of goals is an utmost important task in order to achieve them
effectively. Generally, these are called short duration goals, i.e. their tenure are likely short to
attain them (in a year or less) (Flynn and Messias, 2020). These goals increases the morale and
competitive spirit and ultimately maximises the potential to achieve long term goals.
The short term goals required to be inherited are:-
Managing time for tasks
Reduction of stress and work pressure
Effective interpersonal skills

(3) Value of Medium-term Goals along with 3 personal examples
Medium-term goals are those which need to achieve within the period of 18 months to
three years. These goals must be monitored properly so as to maintain the quality else it will
cause disappointment and failure in life (Lazenby, McCulla, and Marks, 2020).
The medium-term goals required to be inherited are:-
Proficient in management models
Improving theoretical and practical management skills
Building career in legal field
(4) Value of Long term Goals along with 3 personal examples
Long term goals are those which you want to accomplish in future. It helps to develop
brief planning in respect of future (Ramsden and et. al., 2021). These goals are generally
required in the decision making process in order to attain successful career.
The long term goals required to be inherited are:-
Possessing effective leadership skills
To devise independent and successful career
Future fund savings
(5) Concept of a Personal Development Plan (PDP) accompanied by above illustrated goals
The personal development plan specifies individual to take suitable and effective steps to
perform better in future. The plan also help to take measures in case of contingencies. Thus, PDP
strengthens the area of expertise and helps individual to evaluate inner self.
