1EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS
It is to be noted that networking forms an important part of the present day world not
only in the context of social bonding but also in terms of the work related aspects as well.
The “Social Network Theory” analyses “how people, organizations or groups interact with
others inside their network” (Liu et al. 2017). I would like to comment here that recently I
attended two events-“Careers in Research and Academia” and “Women’s Day” which helped
me to expand my network of only my social contacts but also professional contacts as well. I
met four people in the first mentioned event and three people in the second event who are
actually working in the Bexley and Greenwich area, the area where I intend to work in the
future. I was able to learn of things from about the skills which I need to acquire and focus on
in order to get employed in that particular sector. They also provided me with a few tips
about how to go about the interview process. I would like to mention here that I used my
normal socializing skills like interacting with the people in a friendly manner, giving me the
opportunity to speak and introduce themselves and then moving on to the topic of job profile
and job roles in the particular Bexley and Greenwich area. I would also like to mention here
that the people who attended the event with very friendly and willing to share their
experiences of work at the Greenwich area. Therefore, I would say that the two events which
I attended were very fruitful to me.
I would like to comment here that my overall degree program was selected by me
with the intention of moving on to the Greenwich area. One of my cousins provided me with
the idea that this particular course will facilitate my job prospects in the Greenwich area.
Therefore, with that particular intention I joined this particular course. This course also
enabled me to develop the relevant skills which are needed for the job profile like proper
communication skills, soft skills, information about the recent events and others which will
be very useful for me not only at the time of the interview but also for the performance of my
job roles at the Greenwich area. I would like to undertake a management degree alongside the

present course which I am pursuing. This degree will enhance my chances of becoming the
manager of the company in which I am intending to work. Moreover, the course will also
provide me with relevant information regarding the various theories and principles of
management which will prove useful for me during my job at the Greenwich area (Hill, Jones
and Schilling 2014). I would like to add here that pursuing two courses at the same time will
become a bit hectic for me, however, I intend to overcome that barrier by the process of
effective time management, a proper study plan and others. I also intend to undergo a few
internship programs which will provide me with valuable experience and also help me to
understand the concepts of my course work in a much better manner. I would like to add here
that these skills will definitely add value to the employers in the Greenwich area. The courses
which I am pursuing and also intend to pursue will not add to my knowledge but will also
provide me with the various skills required for the job. The various internship programs
which I intend to undergo will also add value to my skills and expertise.
Recently, I heard that there is a vacancy in a particular company in the Greenwich
area for the post of a supervisor. They are looking for someone who is willing to work in
rotational shifts and has some experience in the warehouse sector. I already have experience
in the warehouse sector and am willing to work in rotational shifts. Therefore, I think that the
job will be a suitable one for me. As I already mentioned after the completion of this
particular course I intend to join the Greenwich area. Initially I will have to join as a
supervisor in the Greenwich sector. The job profile will require me to oversee the work of
other workers and also to guide the course of their work. The job role will also require me to
prepare performance reports and various reports. Therefore, the management course which I
intend to pursue along with this particular course will help me to perform my job roles. I
would also like to add here that my Linkedin profile and resume also reflect that I would be
able to dispense these job roles with ease as I already have relevant experience in the

concerned field. I would like to mention here that the interview process was based on the
STAR model. The interviewer firstly asked me narrate a recent situation or challenge in
which I found myself, Next, he asked me about the kind of thing which I was required to
achieve in the particular event. After that he asked me about the action which was taken by
me and also about the outcome of the event. I would like to say that I had given prior
interviews in which I had to answer similar questions. Therefore, I was prepared for these
kinds of questions and I answered them with ease. For example, the incident which I narrated
to the interviewer was the ethical dilemma situation which I faced at my last job and I think
that the incident seemed interesting to the interviewer as he seemed quite impressed by me.
