INTRODUCTION
Career plays a very important role in everyone's life that one makes from proper
education and through development of various skills. Personal development refers to a concept
that allows individual in enhancing its present skills with the help of which one can get better
opportunity in his career or future life. It involves development of skills such as communication,
presentation, speaking, listening or any kind of academic skills that can be utilized in job field by
an individual (Ahmadigol, Dehghanzadeh and Rezae, 2021). Employability refers to presence
of ability in order to gain good job role, retaining it for some time and getting opportunity of
having better job. It includes combination of various skills, ability, knowledge and experience in
specific field. The present report discusses about roles and responsibilities that are required to get
a good position as Accounting Manager in TESCO Company which is a multinational retailer
firm. The report also includes job description, person specification, required knowledge and
skills that are compulsory to have job. A self reflection is also being done on educational journey
in order to assess what all responsibilities are already present and what all are needed to be
developed in order to fulfil job requirements. Further a CV and a cover letter is prepared for job
role.

Summary:
Assist multinational retail company's Accounting department with various day to day activities
related to Accounting in order to ensure all receipts and payments are made appropriately,
adequate preparation of sheets, maintenance of bills and receipts, emailing or faxing, filing of
records, solving customers queries related to accounting and many more.
Job Purpose
The Accounts Manager is required to perform various roles and responsibilities in his field. He
also have to ensure departments smooth and adequate working along with having surety that
proper actions are being taken to achieve set target or objective in specific time. A candidate
should possess good communication skills along with presence of analytical skills.
Roles & Responsibilities
 Recording of accounting transactions.
 Setting of specific targets for each employee.
 Managing of work along with maintaining of employee's productivity.
 Maintaining and updating spread sheets time to time.
 Emailing, faxing or collating accounting statements and invoices.
 Maintenance of payroll records.
 Closing reservations in respect to payments and invoices.
 Credit charge along with running of day to day batches.
 Following up with suppliers and other firms and emailing receipts to them.
 Providing assistance to payroll department.

Self-Reflection on educational journey:
The term employability skills refers to requirement of some skills and knowledge that
helps an individual in getting employment along with higher achievement in a company
(Anderton and Marriott, 2020). In today’s world corporates does not prefers candidates who only
possess graduation degree but also looks for those who have more skills that are required in
specific job. The basic skill that TESCO demands form candidates are Teamwork,
Communication, Problem Solving, Planning and organising, Technological, etc. which are
discusses below in context to my reflection:
 Teamwork: It includes working in an organisation with collaborative efforts of some
people that jointly forms a team (Cao, 2020). This presents more outcomes with different
perspective that helps TESCO in taking most suitable decision.

 Communication Skills: Communication is something which takes place at every
moment with everyone (Ginty and et. al., 2020). To be an effective Accounts manager it
is important to have good communication skills in TESCO. Through effective
communication skills a person is able to convey his opinion’s and views properly and on
the other hand understands other view point clearly too. I have a strong command over
my communication skill.
 Problem Solving Skills: This involves skills that an employee can utilise while taking
some decision or solving any kind of problem that can hinder the business performance
(Igwe, Lock and Rugara, 2020). TESCO prefers that candidate who carries some
analytical as well as logical thinking skills in order to solve problem which can take birth
at any time.
 Planning and Organising Skills: TESCO gives opportunity to those candidates who are
enough competent to plan the activities and makes necessary arrangements that can be
needed during completion of tasks. Planning here refers to formulating strategy for long
term and short term both. Organising refers to classification and arrangement of resources
such as human resource, material, equipment’s, etc. For having effective planning and
organisation of tasks I have enough knowledge and is competent to bring better results.
 Technological Skills: This involves knowledge of working on technical software’s that
are applied in maintaining records of transactions in accounts department (Jewell and et.
al., 2020). TESCO provides preference to those candidates who are proficient in
accounting software’s. I have proficiency in working on accounting software as well as
on windows 10 operating system.
Application of Gibbs model:
Description: This includes detail situation that concerns with happening and its outcome.
Being an accounts manager I was allotted to Senior Accounts manager in TESCO immediately
from my joining. I was allowed to perform various tasks that are related with day to day
operations of accounts department such as recording of transactions, filing tax returns,
maintaining invoices and bills, etc. For the accomplishment of my tasks I have categorised each
activity based on its priority and time consuming feature. Although it was not mandatory to
record all the transactions daily I can skip any for the next day but I tried to finish them by same

day in order to reduce my work load for next day. This helped me in successful completion of
my daily targets without having any work left for succeeding days.
Feelings: This involves various thoughts or feelings that I have felt during my work along with
its impact on outputs (Kamble, 2021). Before analysing progress of daily targets I felt very
happy and motivated because i was aware of my work and their priorities. The time when I
realised about completion of my task I got relaxed and was able to bring productivity in my
results. Although being new to company I faced some challenges but I was able to manage them
and perform my work accordingly.

Evaluation: During my work I found myself good in some skills and fulfilled certain
responsibilities in well adequate manner which helped me in successful completion of my tasks.
However, while performing my task i came to know about some of my weaknesses such as team
work and problem solving skills that I need to enhance or learn for better results.
Analysis: I felt that categorisation of work based upon its priorities were very helpful to me
in effective completion of my daily targets and also in fulfilling my responsibilities. i loved my
work which uses my strengths and improves my weaknesses. During my job I developed certain
skills on which I was not having much command and practiced them in order to have proficiency
over them. I have strong holding on skills such as communication, technological and planning of
activities.
Conclusion: I have acquired various knowledge and skills such as how to work in a team
with full coordination and participation in activities. I will keep developing my skills and work
upon my weaknesses in order to convert them into my strengths. I also learned to take instant
decisions at the time of contingency or rise to any problem so to have control over the situation.

Action Plan: When there will be a requirement of team work I will coordinate and take
initiative in areas where I have strong command so to give my best in successful completion of
task. On the other hand I will take some measures or practice to enhance my weaknesses which
are going to help me in having better decisions and results that is best suitable for company.

From the present report it is concluded that having professional skills plays a very
