INTRODUCTION
Health and social care is basic need of society and people are now getting more aware of
of health issues because daily new diseases and other social problems are entering in
environment. The kind care company is known for their impressive work for old age people and
other needy groups. Being manager of the organisation my work is to provide residence to the
individuals who come to us for assistance. Providing nursing and other basic amenities is one of
the main function of my firm (Moon, 2013). This report will include related to my beliefs and
values relating to health and social care services, making plans and promoting various right
relating to this subject will also be included in this file.
TASK1
1.1 Comparison between personal values and principles supporting working in health and social
care:
I have certain believes and principles and I follow them in every situation whether it is
favourable or unfavourable. The care home where I am working at the position of manager also
have principles and some of them are related to the rights that patients or old people have.
Integrity is one of the principle that I also keep in my mind. I have many authorise as a manger,
like company has given me right to purchase essential items for the need of individuals who are
staying with us. I can use my power and buy low quality products to save money for my personal
use but because of my values I will never do that (Kumari, 2011). Sometime my beliefs does not
matches with principles that are present in this sector, in these situation problems are solved
through mutual understanding. Equality is another rule which I follow and it is also right of
every individual that they should get same treatment and no discrimination should be made
between them.
1.2 Influence of personal culture and experience on my role.
Experience have influence my thinking, earlier I wanted to join a care home who was
paying me high package and my job was not related to serving needy people. But when I work in
this organisation than I realised that money is not more important for me if I compare it to the
service and satisfaction that I provide to old age people. When I get blessing of patients, I get
motivated to work hard in this sector and channelise my energy to serve more people. Culture
also made a huge influence on my working style and role (Avalos, 2011). I come from a society
1

where a large population do not like to eat non veg food. But in care home, it is my responsibility
to serve both vegetarian and non vegetarian food and I realise people have different taste which
is difficult to change specially when the person is old. I never discriminate on the basis of food
and treat everyone with same attitude. My interest and priorities changes with when company
gave me more responsibilities.
1.3 Effect of new development and changes on my work:
Every year new government regulation and rules are entering in this sector and constant
development of technology is also changing the my working style (Von Haenisch, 2011). Earlier
I was giving more focus on providing medical service because it is one the basis need of old age
person but after self assessment I realise that medical need is not their priority they need moral
support, so now I work on raising their confidence and giving them more happy movement.
Stakeholders, service users etc. may have different needs because sometime shareholders think
that some patients do not deserve the facilitates that they are getting because they are capable of
doing something better than that. In these cases I have to perform a role of conflict solver so
company can work without any hindrance and disputes can be avoided. Technology has given
great assistance to my work because by using my mobile I perform most of the task and reach of
my company is also enhancing when we implement new inventions. With changing law, I have
to change some rules in organisation as it is necessary to follow all the legislations that are
present in a country (Olsen, 2015.).
TASK 2
2.1 My current skills ability and learning style:
I firmly believe that for my personal growth, and to provide better service to the users I
have to focus on continuous improvement in my work. Their are mainly four ways by which
people learn something, 1. watching, 2. reading, 3. listening, 4. writing. After self assessment I
realise that I cannot learning things by reading and writing them (Maskit, 2011). But listing and
watching are two ways by which I have learnt many thing and this is something in which I good.
I understand problems of service user when I talk to them or when I watch them when they are
facing problems. When I read their trouble correctly, it is easy for me to solve them in less time.
Another way by which I improve my skills is avoiding the mistakes that I have done in past.
Their are situation in my life when I feel that things are not going according to my way, like

when I want to do some changes in organisation but other employees stop me from doing it, at
that time I keep my moral high because I understand that in hard time one should not stop doing
right thing .
2.2 Holistic development plan with short medium- and long-term goals:
With my past experiences I have realised that all the essential changes that in needed in
my skill cannot be attained in one time (Trede,Macklin and Bridges, 2012). So I set short term
and long term goals and made a strategy of 'one step at a time'. In immediate period I will work
on my IT skills because technology changes very fast and regular up-gradation is necessary. The
art of negotiation is another skill where I will focus because I have to meet different kind of
people daily, which include various products supplier so to get top quality of good at best price I
need to work on my bargaining ability. For long term I have to hone my human resource skill
because I have to recruit employees in company, so to find right man for right job I need to do a
lot of theoretical and practical study for a long time. Another knowledge that I want to acquire in
long run is command on medicines because it is very important part care home. Old age people
are highly dependent on medicine so I have prepare myself for any emergency situation.
2.3 Monitoring progress against the plan according to the requirements of health and social care:
Short term plans has to be monitored on regular basis because they have to be achieved in
in less time (Van Driel and Berry, 2012). IT is one of the area where I am trying to improve
myself, to know my progress I need to consult with IT department of my company. They can
easily find difference in my past performance and current performance. It is difficult for me to
analyse whether my negotiation skill is improving or not, so to find this I need help of other
employees who become part of bargaining process. They can search the areas where I commit
mistakes and provide me solutions of my problem. Human resource is another skill where I want
to make major improvement, in short time betterment in this area is difficult to find. I need to
wait to check the performance of candidates that I have selected because this process need time
to analyse their performance. Monitoring their work on regular basis is essential to hone by
ability to choose an employee for work (Desimone, 2011).
2.4 Evaluation of the development plan relating to my development.
When someone work as a care worker than there is constant need for personal
development. I also believe that there is major scope in my personality development so I made
3

plans to improve myself on continuous basis. IT skills and Human resource were major part of
this plan. By using my ability to handle difficult task related to IT, I have managed to keep all
the information about service user in electronic form which means digitally. This provide great
assistance in finding various records in less time and without any loss of information. Another
advantage of this skill is that now care home is not depended on lengthy paper work as most of
the functions in organisation are performed by using various software and technology (Cooke,
2012.). When I work on honing my human resource skill I realise that it is one of the most
important department of a company because it is the entry point of firm. I choose those
candidates who enjoy working in care home because if they will enjoy the task that is given to
them than they will give their100%. As the manager of Kind Care company this assist me in
hiring people who are good with old people and have better knowledge of this sector.
TASK 3
3.1 Nature of different professional relationships in health and social care contexts:
In health and social care service, I have to meet different people who are directly or
indirectly related to this work. First can be service users, Company have a strict policy that old
age people will be treated properly and their basic need like medicine should always be met on
time. They need regular check up so for this I have to consult doctors of various specialisations
because every service user have different problem so single doctor cannot treat all of them. This
whole process need good relationship with doctors because sometime I have to call them in late
night for emergency (López‐Pasto, Monjas and Manrique, 2011). Co-workers are very important
in care home because to provide quality service organisation need to work together. Different
employees have different nature so first I try to understand them and than communicate with
them in a way which is comfortable for them. Their are some social workers who want to work
for old age people without taking any salary, I motivate them to continue the good work that they
are doing so other people relating to them can also get an idea of doing social service.
3.2 Personal effectiveness in promoting and supporting the rights of the individual:
Every individual has some rights and they are to be saved at any cost because if it is not
stopped first time than people will make it a habit. Their are various service in health care model
like conventional medical model or bio medical model, NHS social care model, bio-psychosocial
model etc. Conventional model is formed on the ground of NHS and western care system. In
4

medical service high value is ensured in specialised medical service. In bio-psychosocial model,
focus is kept on mental and social problems. Other troubles that is included in it is psychological
and emotional, this model will provide great assistance in identifying mental status of service
users. NHS social care model is very effective because overall structure and systematic approach
is use to improve the health of patients who are having a critical condition for a long term ( Patti
and et.al., 2012.).
To develop confidence and trust in service users I will ask them about their option regarding
facilities provided in care home. Another work that I will do is regarding promoting equality and
diversity in organisation. I will work on removing cultural differences so harmony can be
developed in the atmosphere of care home.
3.3 Ways to resolve issues encountered in professional relationship:
When people work together conflicts and fights are obvious. People have different
behaviour so some problems arise without any reason. First way to resolve this struggle is to sit
with both parties like staff of care home and service users. Thinking of old age people differ
from young generation, patience will be the key to solve this issue. I will give training to staff so
they can control their emotions and keep their focus on productive work (Glogowska and et.al.,
2011). It would not be right to expect any change from sick and old people so major work has to
be done on employees of organisation. Sometime a situation arise when service user give some
confidential information but he/she deny me to share it with anyone. In this type of situation, a
dilemma arise where I have to tell about the information to the authorised person but At the same
time I cannot break the trust the he/she has on me because if I share his/her secret than in future
any care home service users will not share any type of message with me.
TASK 4
4.1 Effectiveness of personal contributions when working with others in health and social care
practice:
In a team, contribution of every member is important because combined efforts will help
an organisation in achieving their desired goal. I made an image where I like to support everyone
in my team and treat everyone according to their nature (Taylor and et.al., 2011). As a manager I
keep my focus on solving the problems of my subordinates so conflict among them can be

stopped at the point of their generation. I have done good process in IT work so now I can handle
all the electronic data which will reduce the time taken by different process. Sometime I have to
give advice to the top management of company because they need ground details so in future
they can make policies which will be more beneficial for user of service. Counselling is another
duty that I have to perform because moral of old people go down on constant basis because of
various reasons, so they need proper guidance and motivation to enjoy their life. Listening to
their problems will help them in realising their pressure which will be beneficial for their health
also (Floyd, 2012.).
4.2 Impact of my performance on other work:
As a manager I have more responsibilities compare to other because I have to give
answer to the top management of the company for everything that is happening in care home.
Their are some time when things do not happen according to my need, these time are hard for me
and for other people who live and work in care home. As a result, sometime I work with less
energy because of the feeling of demotivation. This made huge impact on performance of other
employees because when their leader is unconfident about something their confidence also go
down. This can create negative environment in the work place.
4.3 My role in minimising barriers to effective teamwork in health and social care practice:
When a team work together many problems generate. The reason behind formation of
these problems is various barriers that are present in team. I firmly believe that poor leadership is
one of the biggest barrier in making the internal connections in team strong. Sometime I have to
point it out in meetings with top management that the some managers are not underperforming
which is not good for the organisation (Forte and Flores, 2014). Rest is depend on upper
management because I do not control them, my responsibility was to raise this issue. Other
barrier can be poor communication between management and employees or may be among
employees. This problem can be minimised by using appropriate chain of communicate. Every
employee has their own priority, sometimes conflicts arises because employees priority of two or
more employees stand against each other. This kind of situation can be solved by mutual
understanding and compromising from both sides. Lack of trust among employees reduces their
efficiency to work which is not beneficial for organisation. Lack of trust can also arise between
me and my team, I firmly believe these kind of problems should be solved at the point of their
generation.

4.4 Improvement in personal contributions to the collective effectiveness of a team:
Their are many ways by which I can improve performance of team, one of the most
important is by improving my performance. As a manager if I perform better, than other
employees in company will also get motivation to deliver their best result. I will share my
thoughts regarding the problems faced by firm and individuals which can help them in solving
the problems that arise in their working style. It is my duty to explain the goals and
responsibilities to every worker of care house because at the time of performing various task they
might get confuse about their duties and responsibilities. I will work on organising my tasks in a
way that I can keep my focus on maximum activities that are being performed in the organisation
(Roeser and et. al., 2012). I will hone my communication skills because they can stop most of the
communication errors that arise in a team. I will promote the culture of respecting seniors as well
as juniors because this will improve overall working environment which can enhance the
productivity and efficiency of company.
CONCLUSION
Form the above report it can be concluded that health and social case services need proper
human resource because generally people who come in this sector do not work for money, their
main motive is to service needy people. I have certain principles and values which I do not
compromise at any cost because their main is to provide services to users who came to my
organisation for assistance. My experience and culture has also made huge influence on company
but at same time I have also learn many things because of the diversity of the organisation. I set
short and long term goals so I can avoid mistakes and shortcomings that are present in my nature
and working style. Because of my contribution in team overall performance of group will also
get better. I firmly believe that continuous improvement in my personalty will help me in
performing better from my past work.
