INTRODUCTION
Planning for personal development is important for developing a direction for the future and
planning for action to achieve various future goals. Creating a self-improvement plan is very
important for students currently studying at university. It helps every student to use his or her
time effectively at university to achieve his/her future goals (Halperin and Regev, 2021). In
addition, in academic writing, it is very important to give appropriate weight to the source in
accordance with the proper purpose of referring to a particular source. Following report cover
and outline the implication of personal development and the role of source in the academic
writing skills.
MAINBODY
TASK A
Personal and Professional development
The concept of personal development refers to the ongoing process of gaining greater academic,
human and professional competence, developing your skills, increasing opportunities,
developing job opportunities and setting defined skills goals. The purpose of personal and
professional development is to manage education and development throughout the career path.
Professional development is defined as the process of obtaining or retaining academic
qualifications, certificates, and informal opportunities to gain knowledge in a field, as necessary
indicators to advance your career (Arthur and Golder, 2020). Moreover, Personal development
plan is bases on the reflection which is very important for planning for personal and professional
development which means giving importance to building skills.
Description and discussion on importance of short term goals
It has found that short term goals helps me to lay the groundwork for long-term goals for self-
improvement. Short-term objectives address areas that can be reached in a limited time or less
than a month. The simple nature of these goals helps to complete the goal quickly. Short-term
goals are often achieved through the repetition of simple tasks so that the task becomes part of
one's daily routine (Miller, 2020). One of the core importance for short term goals in their lie is
that this kind of objectives supports a person for succeeding in complex long-term goals by
taking small steps to achieve that person's long-term goal.

A one set medium term goals which they wished to achieve within the period of 6-12 months.
Medium term goals are grasp on focusing on the skills gaps which an individual do not monitor
to succeed in the future. We all have these objectives but we are giving less monitoring to these
goals.
The significant value of these medium goals is depict an individual opportunity to meet
the skills gaps which is time consuming. Thus, when a person attain their medium term goals
they create a support in achieving their long term goals (Havilland and et. al., 2020). Hence,
medium term objects act as the pathway for archiving the future goals which decrease the stress
regards to the supporting long term goals.
My personal medium terms goals are as-
 To develop my team developing skills
 Developing my leadership and management skills
 Attend as much as online mini workshop to sharp and enhance my critical problem
solving skills.
Description and discussion on importance of Long term goals
A long term goals are also known as the plans which one made to achieve in the future and
one want can relate these long term goals how one want to see his/her life to be look like in
the future. Hence these are the dreams goals which individual set to achieve within the time
period of 1-5 yeas time period and these
Goals are being reinforced with the support of short and medium term goals. The foremost
important of these long term goals as these set the future direction in individual life as every
decision of individual is completely based on these long term goals dreams (Conceição, 2021).
Moreover, these long term goals too influenced on the academic and carrier decision taken in the
eye of these goals.
My personal long term goals-
 Opening my new consultancy firm and having approximately 5 permanent clients

 Completing graduation in business management from university
 To own a big house based on self-income source

A personal development plan is crucial for an Individual learner as it help them to spot their
skilled and weaken moreover and this help in creation of the action plan to strengthen those skills
and learn the weaken part (Watt and et. al., 2020). Moreover, a development of personal
development plan preserve an individual to attain their short to long term goals in their potential
career life. Some basic importance of PDP are as follows-
 Serve as the roadmap for the achieving short, medium and long term goals within the set
time period.
 PDP help a learner to get insight about their strong and weak point and creates an action
plan either to strengthen the strong point and uplift the weaken point as PDP belong the
self- assessment only.

source
As per the dynamics of the various study it has been argued that examining the credibility of the
source is essential because this serves as the reliability and credibility for developing a quality
academic research for gaining exact finding of the fact and gives proper weightage to the source.
CRAPP evaluation is used to check the credibility of sources. Proper credibility of the sources is
important as the unreliable theoretical context could result in false representation of the
information and individual would get lower score (Passmore and Sinclair, 2020). The CRAPP
evaluation can be analysed in academic writing as following-
 Currency- to ensure that information used in research must be up to date.
 Relevancy- to check whether information is applicable for the examination.
 Authority- to take the writer’s opinion in the paper which were published.
 Accuracy- To evaluate whether data are original have relevant connection with the paper
and evidence.
 Purpose- To check in what way the reference basis was written off and the aim of writing
this.
