INTRODUCTION
Personal development is describing as a method through which an individual enhance
their skills, ability and knowledge that help them in conducting work in effective manner (Caras
and Sandu, 2014). Personal develop include activities through which a person can improve their
awareness as well as identity by enhancing their talent, skills, knowledge and so on. It is
essential for every organization to conduct personal development activities which help their
employees in improving their skills. This will directly and indirectly lead to increment in
productivity of a company. Organization taken in this is National Trust which is a non profit
organisation. This company was founded by Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Canon
Hardwicke Rawnsley in the year 1895. It is a company which focus more on national heritage
and open spaces in order to protect them from everyone to enjoy. This report is going to explain
factors which help in self-management which leads to enhancement in lifelong development of
capabilities. Along with this it will include activities which help in taking responsibilities of
personal and professional development. This will also include ways which help in reviewing own
performance as well as it also includes evaluation which are acquire to interpersonal as well as
transferable skills.
TASK 1
1.1 Approaches to self-managed learning
As per the article given on IGI Global, self managed learning is define as a kind of
strategy which permits learners to charge their own learning procedure. It helps them to identify
strategy, tools, resources and many more which are required for self learning process (What is
Self-Directed Learning, 2019). This learning assist employees to understand goal of an
organisation, its aim and objectives. There are various approaches of self-managed learning
which are explained below:
Use of bulletin boards: This approach of self-managed learning describes that use of
bulletin boards helps in making notes, schedule day to day activities, define goals and
many more. In respect of The National Trust, the manager uses to note down daily
activities so that they able to guide their subordinates about their task. Along with this,
they also encourage their workers to make notes about new thing they have learned which
will help them in their growth and development.

learning, 2019). In context of The National Trust, company provide their staff lifelong learning
practices such as communication skills, decision making skills and so on. With the help of such
practices, subordinates will able to have effective communication with their clients or customers.
Along with this, they also perform their task effectively. There are several ways through lifelong
learning practices which are described below:
Self-directed learning: Manager of The National Trust organise day to day operations
in systematic manner. This will help workers to take initiatives in learning, set their
goals, recognise resources required for learning process as well as also implement
strategies to get productive learning outcome.
