INTRODUCTION
Personal development can be defined as a process or way by which people assess their
qualities, skills in order to realize their potential (Howard, 2019). This present study is going
to discuss value and importance of personal and professional development. Further, it will
discuss reasons of developing all three types of goals such as short term, medium term and
long term. There are several advantages of establishing goals as it helps people in staying
them focused and confident. It will also discuss value of personal development plan and ways
as how effective resources can help in increasing skills in people.

companies engage in learning process for meeting their pre determined goals. Personal
development is all related to accomplishing personal goals such as: increasing
communication, reducing errors, increasing sales and others. Professional development is
being developed for accomplishing goals related to profession such as developing career,
taking promotional opportunities, etc. In regards to importance of personal and professional
development it can be said that it helps people in managing their own growth and learning
(de Snoo-Trimp, Molewijk and De Vet, 2018). It also helps in making people aware about
information, market trends and accomplishing goals for which they work. It also makes
people able in taking competitive advantages and also being in this changing environment in
an effective manner and improving overall quality of life.

increasing knowledge as it boosts employeesā job satisfaction at workplace and keep them
happy as well as confident. Employees can make their company more appealing and can
prove their potential by developing profession plan and increasing skills and knowledge.

they can reduce their weaknesses and can improve skills. Personal development plan allows

increase their skills which they need to improve. It can also be said that this personal and
professional development plan can help people in accomplishing their all short term, medium
term and long term goals.
From self analysis I found that I am lacking in some skills that I need to improve for
taking advantages of competition and for career developing in the desired field of marketing.
With the help of an effective personal or professional development plan or making use of
appropriate resources I can develop all these skills (Dotson and Valenzuela, 2020). From self
analysis I found that I have stage fear and I am lacking in public speaking skills and expertise
in specific field.
