Introduction
Academic skills are such type of skills which have been learned by students as well as
teachers for their different roles because it is useful to operate successfully at level of the
higher education. Those who know and learn academic skills are having a leading graduate
attributes including problem solving, analytical ability, effective communication and
innovative ideas. Report includes definition of the professional and personal development,
significant value of short term, medium term and long term goals with personal examples as
well. Also, discussion includes the value of personal development goal. At last, report
includes effect of ‘Author, Purpose, Reliability and Relevance’ in terms of evaluating eight
sources (Schillings and et. al., 2020).

The definition of professional development
The professional developments are set of resources, instructions and tools to improve
the teaching quality and effectiveness of teaching. Such helpful resources help them in
getting the knowledge of subject specification and the subject area which gives an
opportunity to learn new skills and enhancing the knowledge. An approach to the
professional development includes reviewing of the case studies, coaching and consultation,

The definition of personal development
The personal development is a kind of lifelong process. It is one of the way in which

goals to achieve something better. It helps in identifying various skills which needs to set the
