Introduction
Academic skills are such type of skills which have been learned by students as well as
teachers for their different roles because it is useful to operate successfully at level of the
higher education. Those who know and learn academic skills are having a leading graduate
attributes including problem solving, analytical ability, effective communication and
innovative ideas. Report includes definition of the professional and personal development,
significant value of short term, medium term and long term goals with personal examples as
well. Also, discussion includes the value of personal development goal. At last, report
includes effect of ‘Author, Purpose, Reliability and Relevance’ in terms of evaluating eight
sources (Schillings and et. al., 2020).
Task 1
The definition of professional development
The professional developments are set of resources, instructions and tools to improve
the teaching quality and effectiveness of teaching. Such helpful resources help them in
getting the knowledge of subject specification and the subject area which gives an
opportunity to learn new skills and enhancing the knowledge. An approach to the
professional development includes reviewing of the case studies, coaching and consultation,
monitoring and technical assistance (Lecheile and et. al., 2020).
The definition of personal development
The personal development is a kind of lifelong process. It is one of the way in which
people access the skills and development, considering various ways in life and set different
goals to achieve something better. It helps in identifying various skills which needs to set the
life goals and enhance the employability, raise confidence and believing in higher quality of
life.
Value of short term goals with 3 personal examples
A short term goals are something which are only made for the shorter period of time.
The near future can be symbolized in short term goals and it can be week, or a year, or month
(Silinskas and et. al., 2020).

The three personal examples of short term goals includes
 Class of any Economics which is of 1 hour daily.
 Buying a television
 Making a resume

A long term goals are something which are for the longer duration of time. Long term
goals require planning and procedure for the best success to be getting after the goals will
achieve.
The three personal examples of long term goals includes
 Retirement savings
 Running an organisation by own
 Schooling for more than 8 years in a single school
Value of middle term goals with 3 personal examples
They are such type of goals that tends to serve purpose of long term of goals. Medium
term goals can be said to be ones which are supposed to be accomplished in a time span of 1-
3 years.
Examples:-
 A graduation degree of three long yeas.
 Learning a new skills and art of narration from a good reputed place.
 To purchase a house.
Value of Personal Development Plan with example
Personal development plan is seems out to be a written document that has some sort
of measures and actions which are taken by individuals for carrying improvement on basis of
existing skills and competences of a person. Personal Development Plan is written
documentation containing the actions and measures that are taken by an individual for
carrying out improvement within existing skills and competences of a person.

and emphasizing a point you have been made, the ideas rather than research is being made.
Author: Students and educators needs to know about the author or publishers or sponsor so
that it will give more clarity and knowledge of the articles.
Purpose: Purpose and objectives of sources helps students and objectives to get what they
are looking for. When looking for the purpose, informing, teaching, entertaining and selling
are the clear intentions of the authors written over it.
Reliability: A reliable source is seems out to be a well- reasoned theory and argumentative
discussions.
Relevance: When looking at the sources, information relevancy gives a major impact on
research endeavor. More importantly, references of authors should focus on audiences
(Erdogan, F., 2020).
