INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development is necessary for every individual to grow and
develop new skills and enhance knowledge to meet challenges and desired goals in personal and
professional life. Personal and professional development is necessary for an individual to gain
number of opportunities in future carrier. This report is analyses of managerial courage quality of
individual that helps it in achievement of desired goals. It also helps in identifying attribute,
behaviour pattern and value of strength that an individual possess to performing various
activities effectively. This report explains quality of managerial courage through applying theory
of management. At last, it explains about benefit of having such qualities in future grow and
development in personal and professional life.
Managerial courage quality
Managerial courage is the quality of individual that able it to face various challenges,
manage people and situation at the same time is able to take accurate and difficult decision and
responsibilities to manage work effectively (Kerr, 2016). This quality is essential in both
personal and professional life as in personal life it helps in meeting various challenges. It is
needed at each stage of life as there are number of challenges and some situation demand quicker
decision so this skill helps lot to an individual in its personal life. Whereas in case of professional
development it is required by manager to effectively manage its team, solve dispute between
employees and take quick accurate decision for achievement of organisational goals (Trorey and
Cullingford, 2017). Thus, Managerial courage quality helps in development of various skill such
as communication, decision-making and enhance knowledge and ability to manage situation and
dispute. This quality of my can be explained by using theory of management:
Theory of scientific management: This theory was proposed by Frederick Taylor that aimed at
improving performance and productivity of employees. It had explained what are the factor that
motivate individual to work effectively for achievement of organisational goals. As per Taylor
worker or employees should be paid remuneration equal to work performed by individual. Thus,
it introduces differential Piece rate system (Knoetze and McCulloch, 2017). Thus, in it if
employees perform work with greater efficiency than standard set they should be paid 120% of
normal piece rate and if they work less than there standard than they should be paid 80% of
normal piece rate. There are four Principles of scientific management:

Time and motion study: Manager has to analysis and evaluate various ways to performed
specific task and it is also responsible for finding new method that can be helpful in completing
task within limited time and efforts (Geia, Pearson and Sweet, 2017). It also analysis time taken
to perform specific task by particular employee.
Teach, train and develop: Manager by providing training enhances knowledge and skills of
employees to perform work effectively for grow and survival of company.
Interest of employees: Manager by building good relationship between employees helps in
effectively coordination of efforts and create feeling of belongingness among employees to work
effectively.
Fair remuneration: It enhances employees performance and productivity by motivating
employees on the basis of fair remuneration.
Strength of Managerial courage
Time and motion study: Manager by studying time taken to perform certain activities and find
new ways to perform such task (Attard, 2017). Thus, for effective management of people my
quality of managerial courage helps in analysing time taken to perform a specific task. Courage
to manage people also help me find new ways.
Teach, train and develop: I can easy train, develop and teach people about various skill and
knowledge that they will require to perform. Managerial courage quality help me to effectively
manage people and teach them new things.
Interest of people: Managerial also helps me in influencing and motivating employees to work
effectively for achievement of company goals. In personal life also I can easily influences people
to accept my ideas, views for performing any task.
Fair remuneration: Managerial courage helps me to enhance by knowledge to used effectively
method for distribution of fair remuneration.
Managerial courage is strength for me as it helps in overall personal and professional
development by learning new skills, enhancing knowledge and various ways to tackle a situation
and circumstances. I can easily influence people to follow my instruction for better result and can
take active part in solving any critical situation (Derrick and Wighting, 2019). I am also able to
lead and first one to handle situation and able to manage situations and people effectively. It is
helpful for me in face reality and challenges of personal and profession life helps me to remain
positive in every situation despite various hurdles. I can easily overcome my fear and able to take

risk in life thus learn and develop skills and knowledge. Managerial courage is strength in my
profession or carrier life also as I am able to manage employees effectively and achievement
goals. It helps in catering number of opportunities in future carrier (Crowder, 2017). Thus, it can
be stated that managerial courage is strength for me as it helps me to face challenges, provide
opportunities and develop new skills and knowledge to manage people and situations effectively.
It can also be explained through a specific example that there was a event in my family and all
the things were unarranged and nobody was ready to take responsibility to manage that event.
Then I take courage to manage event by analysing and evaluating things that are needed, arrange
resource and distribute work among number of people and continuous monitor and supervise that
all assign work is performed effectively. There was a conflict and confusion between worker
related to work perform by individual thus I by assigning specific work able to manage people
and made the event successful. From there I get to that I have ability to arrange and manage
resource effectively as the event was successful. Thus, managerial courage and quick decision of
me helps in making event successful and every one happy and satisfied.
Attributes, behavioural preference and values underpin in Managerial courage
There are various attributes, behavioural preference and values underpin in managerial
courage. Attributes for managerial courage such as individual should able to face truth that
means he must able to admit there is a problem. It should have ability to take action regarding
solving problem and not wait for others to respond (Khalid, 2020). Such individual can make
quick and accurate decision in risky or uncertain situation by positively analysing and evaluating
problem. It has also courage to work outside its comfort zone thus have ability to overcome its
fear and take risk to perform work effectively. Person is also able to form rigorous standard and
clarifying people about rules and regulation , assign or divide work to be performed by specific
individual. He has also ability to resolve conflict among people and helps in effectively
coordinate between people to achieve desire goals. Individual has ability to influences people to
work effectively and also coordinate activities or efforts of individuals. It should be able to
understand and evaluate various things so that can make judgement on appropriate basis.
Behaviour preference means preference or priorities of individual over others in terms of
level of happiness, gratification and utility while performing various activities. Behaviour
preference of person that have managerial quality should be able to take risk, manage people,
arrange resource and able to take quick decision. As it demand managerial courage demand to be

able to risk to manage uncertain situations by taking quick and appropriate decision for
achievement of desired goals. If person does' not have ability to take risk it would not able to
manage resource or situations. He must like to communicate with people, listen to their problem,
needs thus effectively satisfy them for desired objectives. It must like to work as time and
influences people to enhance their performance and knowledge. Patience and positive attitude
and passion for work influence individual to work calmly in uncertain situations.
Value refers to standard of behaviour of individual or its view, though in judgement of
what is crucial in life. Value to be need by individual that have managerial courage is that he
must be positive as to face various challenges and situations in personal and professional life.
Dedication and passionate about his work, responsibilities to be performed by individual thus
feel less tired and irritated. Give priorities to time so that it can perform assign task on time and
motivate other to do same that will helps in achievement of goals within specified time. Honesty
is another thing that must be in an individual to gain trust of other people. Confidence is also
required as if individual is confident that it would able to perform work it can easily lead and
influences other people. Responsible is other value that must be posses in an person as he is the
one who take responsibilities to manage situations in crucial time. Creativity thinking of person
helps in thinking out of box, bringing innovation to perform specific task.
Difficulties or challenges that are faced in workshop
Some challenges that I faced during workshop exercise is that I have no knowledge
about how to manage the workshop. There are various activities and function that have to be
arrange, people are assign responsibilities and roles, coordinate of various function and its timely
completion is also another challenge (Baker, 2019). There was extreme pressure to manage
workshop effectively as large number of resources and people to be coordinate to achievement of
desired goals. At that time managerial courage quality motivate and influence me to face such
challenges effectively and see it as positively. It was also difficult to manage people and make
them work as team as different individual have different preference and way of thinking so its
challenges to coordinate efforts towards success of workshop. Conflict between employees arise
due to stress and pressure but I would able to manage by explaining them that we all are working
for achievement of similar goals. As stated previously time management was also essential as
there are number of activities to be performed within minimum time limit. Most of the people
have tired after 7-8 hours so it was another challenges for me to motivate and influences they to

work effectively for smooth operation of workshop. Culture and language issue was another
problem as many people have came for different culture and understand different language, so I
have to use such language that can be understood by each member. Thus, there are various
challenges that I faced during my workshop experience but thing that make it successful was
managerial quality of me. It helps me to remain positive in each situation at the same time able to
take risk manage such a workshop effectively for attainment of desired goals.
Contradiction evident from experience
From the above analysis it can be stated that managerial courage was useful in both my
personal and professional life as it provide me various growth opportunities in carrier as manger.
In personal life it helps to manage various challenges of life effectively and enhance knowledge
and skill to perform any task (Sharma, Agrawal and Khandelwal, 2019). It also useful me in
taking crucial decision and meeting my personal objectives. On contradictory there are certain
places where I was not able to use my managerial courage qualities as neither the situation was
risky nor people were hard to manage. Such as when I was manager of company all people were
agree to my words and opinion thus less courage was need to manage different people. Strong
interrelationship between people also helps in bring changes and innovation in organisation. I
can easily coordinate work of individual towards organisational goals. Company has number of
manger, so I was not able to take major part in decision-making and all authority lies to central
manager. He only takes crucial decision and risk for achievement of goals.
Future benefits
In my opinion managerial courage will be of great importance for a successful profession.
In future there will be several instances when my team members may not support me and they
will show dissatisfaction and disapproval (Isaak, 2017). However in such situations for achieving
the goals I will require courage to trust on my skills and to pursue with my decisions confidently.
In future if I will not groom this skill then in most of the crisis or organisational situations I may
lose confidence and I may not be able to withstand complicated situations. In addition to take
decisions managerial courage quality will also help me to face the difficulties and truth without
getting nervous or afraid. For developing myself it is essential for me to work out of my comfort
zone and to take risk as well as to impose rigorous standards. This is possible only when I have
been good at this quality.

Thus it is very important for me to take initiatives to strengthen this skill. For developing
this skill I will try to understand and follow my inner instincts wisely. I will ensure that I do not
get affected by the chaos or unsatisfactory behaviour of the others. However I will ensure that I
do not neglect others and become less cooperative. It is very important for me to understand the
difference between managerial courage and stubborn or overconfident personality. I must groom
myself in the way that I have enough courage to take stand for my own decisions and
requirements. I have also realised that for becoming a successful manager, leader or entrepreneur
it is vital to develop courage in personality. I must demonstrate managerial courage in the
decision making as well as in other context of my professional attributes such as learning, team
behaviour as well as professional growth.
Used of reflection
I have used reflection to analysis and evaluate various skills are present in myself or not
if they are not present they have to be developed for future grow and development in personal
and professional life. The reflection also in evaluating weakness and strength of me lies in which
qualities and ability. I was able to know that I have effectively managerial courage thus ability to
take risk and make quick decision. It also helps me in identifying various skill, knowledge to be
required for a manager to lead team for effectively performance. Thus, it can be stated that
reflection has helped in developing skill and knowledge that are helpful in personal and
professional growth in future.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that personal and professional development
helps an individual in future growth in carrier. Managerial courage is also required to face
various challenges in personal life. It can also be explained that it provide wide opportunities in
carrier as manager to lead and influences people to work effectively for achievement of
organisational goals. At last, it can also conclude from above report to be good manager there are
number of skill and knowledge is required to manage different types of people.
