Unit 3: Personal development in the health sector
There is need for me to enhance my career and skills. This is managed by analysing my own
skills and attaining goals. It is effective for me to always analyse my performance by
knowing what went wrong in previous operations.
The different responsibilities and roles of the healthcare assistant are mentioned below -
first aid – There is need to evaluate a proper managing skills to provide first aid in rightful
manner. There is also requirement of knowing how to provide first aid to people.
First aid is known as the first help given to the people. There is need to provide effective care
to people at early stage so that effective care is given and they can be treated well further. I
will focus more upon managing and developing new ways to enhance my skills in providing
first care to people. I have evaluated that the only thing which can be beneficial in leading to
a good care is that patients are treated at first time effectively.
Moving and handling – Patients are to be managed and handled properly while they are taken
to patient care and operation. As a nurse, I have experienced a major responsibility i.e.
moving and handling of patients from one place to another. When patients are to be shifted
from operations theatre to rooms, there has to be precautions taken while handling them as
patients are in critical situations sometimes.
Dealing with challenging behaviour – A health professional has to deal with various
challenges. Also, there is requirement of planning to overcome all challenges that are created
while working in a healthcare sector. It is very essential to deal with several challenges and
work within healthcare sector properly. I have analysed some of the challenges related to
more care for patients handling. This has to be concerned in proper manner so that patients
are given good care. The reason behind managing care and planning for patients helps in
leading to develop effective care.

Question 5 Page 6
1. Identification of personal behaviours which support learning at workplace.
Implicit learning: Learning can take place in any situation in life; learning experiences are
also not school-based. In addition to the material being learned, they can emerge. The
learner has the capacity to understand a learning scenario that is not usually worked out in a
classroom to make sense of it.
Field trips: With the hope of finding and studying, the learner communicates with the
world.
Learning centres: Learners can apply and practise theoretical knowledge at centres
developed within the community.
Apprenticeship: The learner learns, for example, through career shadowing and school-to-
work activities, through exposure to and guidance by a mentor.
Behaviours that make person a good learner -
Network with people - This is very helpful when a parson is learning something.
Networking with good people will always help in knowing new things.
Don't compare yourself with others - This is very important for a person to be confident
about what he or she is doing. This helps in managing the work.

Be enthusiastic - Enthusiasm is very essential towards our own work because it helps to
complete projects in right manner.
2. Identification of roles of individuals who could support self working goals. [2.2]
Clear feeling of direction - You could complete assignments with a clearer sense of purpose
and a greater concentration when you have clearly articulated deadlines. You will have a
list of targets that clarify when to discuss each assignment, how much time to commit to
them and how much to delegate. The aims in professional growth help you minimise
distractions so you know the meaning of what you have to do.
Enhanced job ethics - Setting goals for yourself means with determination that you tackle
activities. Your hope of achieving those targets can be a powerful inspiration that will
motivate you with any mission you try.
Better partnerships within the workplace - A devotion to professional growth will also
allow you to build good relationships with your colleagues. The importance of good
relationships will become evident when you develop yourself, and you can become a role
model for other workers.
Heightened efficiency - Ultimately, the productivity in the workplace can be improved by
professional growth.
My friends and family will help me to know more about my skills and abilities.

3. Description about the ways feedback from others could assist you in development as
well as improvement within own knowledge along with skills. [2.3]
A individual should take suggestions from the lessons to set goals for himself. If they learn
that when speaking to a group they come off as tentative, they can prefer to concentrate on
improving their confidence. Or if they discover that people see them as hanging on to jobs,
they will want to consider why they should let things go a little more and how this may help
them find a healthier balance between work and life. Feedback also encourages individuals
to see how their activities can influence the growth opportunities of other individuals. For
example, when allocating assignments to the members of their staff, a manager may opt to
use their own discretion. Yet he or she is essentially disempowering other people in the
squad by doing this. It may be that one person really needed to do a job that was delegated
to someone else because they wanted to expand in that field. Yet they have not been
granted the chance, and this can lead them to lose motivation and trust, and even dislike
their boss.
4a. Description of what ‘reflecting towards a situation’ refers to. [2.4]
It refers to looking back on what you have accomplished and evaluating your job
consciously and impartially, what has gone good, what hasn't gone so well, what you
should have done differently and what you've gained. It has the advantages of improving
emotional intelligence, empathy and compassion and can improve the capacity to think
creatively. A fantastic approach to gain expertise is also to focus on job experiences and it
permits a person breathing room for steeping back, analyse a condition and determine what
you have finished right and how you can do works differently if a related condition occurs
in the upcoming. It can be considered, using the following three-step method as a way to
cross the difference between theory and practise:
Learn: This may be from books, the classroom, seeing others, talking to others or
learning/development from other sources.
Do In your work, use what you have learned.
Reflect: Learn of the practise and analyse the pros and cons objectively.

Unit 3: Personal development in the health sector
The method of managing a situation and subsequently focusing on it will offer powerful
lessons into how to make personal and technical changes and acquire experience. As part of
continuous growth, reflective practise can not only strengthen your own expertise, skills
and practise, but can also increase the level of service offered by the entire company.
Reflective practise is delineated as the activity of "learning to develop new insights into self
and/or practise by and from experience," often through "analysis of daily practise
assumptions." It is a vital aspect in ongoing career growth and a component of the
revalidation criteria of the Nursing and Midwifery Board. It is generally assumed that
reflective practise is part of healthcare practise, and its existence and evolution is well
known. It is also poorly described, though, and can be seen as yet another strain on their
time by hard-pressed nurses, rather than something that can help make their work simpler.
The notion of pausing, communicating with emotions and remaining with confusion is
often treated with scepticism and cynicism in a world that values certainty and speed,
measurement and numbers.
4b. Describe the ways of reflecting on a condition can create and amend your knowledge
addition to skills. [2.4]
Reflective practise is the method of looking back on an event that you have had or a
circumstance that you have been in and contemplating and judging what you have achieved
critically. It is known that knowledge alone is not necessary to enhance practise, but it may
be a beneficial doctor to use contemplation in combination with experience. In just a couple
of minutes, reflective preparation can be carried out. It does not need to be registered, but
some people find it convenient to keep their thoughts in a record or journal. There are
multiple reflective practise styles, but they all adopt this process roughly:
THINK of the history
ASSESS what you've done. What was nice? What was naughty?
ANALYSING what you would have done better
ASSESS what you're going to do right every time
Consider for example, a scenario in which you take an ASD-diagnosed person to an
operation, but you get stuck in traffic and end up being 10 minutes late. This induces
immense burden on the individual and they just want to go home and not take part in their
operation. While this was disappointing for the guy, you believe that on that particular day
there was little you might have done to predict the higher level of traffic. Upon thought,
though, you conclude that by leaving ten minutes early, this circumstance might be
prevented in the future. Moving forward, this will boost your practise and the success for
the person you support. In accelerative own -awareness, that is a major element of
emotional intelligence, addition to assist in gaining a profound understanding of another,
reflective practise has immense benefits. It will also permit people to germinate skills in
important idea and encourages formative engagement in occupation processes. In job

settings, it have wide chances to facilitate many essential discourse about occupation
growth and your occupational group improvement, especially at personal assessment time
to create a learning diary and frequently use reflective exercise. In competency-based
interview scenarios, it would also help to provide you with instances to use. Planning is
crucial because it is critical for productive work and effective time management and for
keeping the strategy on track. This is an instance of the use of reflective exercise,
concentrating on what and when you are trying to do.

ways they contributes towards development of career. [2.5]
kind of organisational place learning The ways they contributes in development
of career
Simulation employee training
Simulation employee training is provided to
the nurse for helping them to learn new
skills and abilities. This helps to manage the
working of nurses in such a way that they
are able to work properly. Career
development can be enhanced is skills are
increased of an individual. These will help in
managing the work properly and attaining
organisational goals and objectives. There is
need to develop and manage the
achievement of providing effective services.
Nearly any person will have one or two
skills in the workplace that can be
strengthened, no matter how good they are at
their job. Learning and progress encourages
you to cope with those shortcomings and
push your talents to the next level. It would
also increase the overall effectiveness of
your team if team members rely on each

aid in the acquisition and development of
knowledge and understanding to exhibit positive
behavior. A support worker, for instance,
may have neglected to perform a job, such
as balance checking the money of a person.
Upon evaluation, they realise that the reason
they missed was due to a disruption of their
schedule. Balance checks are typically the
first thing they do when they come on shift,
but the person had an important meeting to
meet on this day, so it was left for later (and
eventually forgotten). They had the idea of
filling down a regular checklist of all duties

weeks and performs so well that it is
