Personal Development Reflection
Introduction
This reflective journal is focused on Personal Development Reflection (PDR), where I
am going to reflect on my experiences while studying the whole unit. To do so, I will assess
the learning acquired from theories and practices I have learned during this unit. Besides, my
reflection will include the ways how the learning acquired through this unit will influence my
personal as well as professional development in the future. In general, reflective writing has
numerous unique features and functions which can find ‘what’ and ‘why’ about the situation
(Hickson, 2011). It means that with reflective writing model one can describe as well as
analyses the whole experience in detail in order to extract the core learning for future career
development. In addition to that, my reflective response will be containing opinions,
experiences, new info and events from the perspective of future professional development.
Finally, with the help of concluding the whole learning, I will evolve my future action plan.
Main Point 1
Since the beginning of the teaching period, two of my future work skills have been
developed and I am sure that these skills will help me in the future largely. When I was
learning into this module I have realized that experiences related to below mentioned two
skills helped and sometimes hindered my progress (Beevers & Rea, 2013). Hence, I decided
to work on such two major skills for future career endeavors.
Problem-solving skills
When I was learning into this unit, my tutor gave me a lot of tasks and assignments
related to theoretical as well as practical skills of the module. In this way, my problem-
solving skills have been developed and evolved throughout the teaching period. I strongly
believe that learning related to problem-solving skills will positively impact my future studies
as well as a future career. As we know that, problem-solving skills are needed in every
personal and professional critical situation thus my reflection on future work skills is
focusing on problem-solving through critical thinking and analytical skills (Chawla &
Renesch, 2009).

Good communication skills
The future work skill which has been evolved during this module was effective
communication skills. In this context, when I was experiencing learning within this unit I
realized the importance of good communication skills (Archer, 2018). I had to interact with
my team members and tutor for completing unit assessments and tasks hence I learned how to
use communication skills for converting theory into practice. In addition to that, my
observation on my communication skills is suggesting that effective communication will act
as a key to success during future career development (Pritchard, 2013).
Main Point 2
After reflecting on my future work skill development, here I am going to reflect on
how my current knowledge of the online environ section has been evolved since the
beginning of the teaching period. When I was learning and communicating online for
acquiring knowledge from this unit then I learned how one can communicate online
effectively and efficiently. My knowledge of digital learning will allow me to learn within an
online environment in future as well. In the beginning, I faced some difficulties which
hindered my learning progress however I overcome all of the hindrances with my critical
problem-solving and management skills (Anon, 2015).
Now, I have integrated knowledge of the learning and communicating within an
online environment which is majorly acquired since the beginning of the teaching period. I
found that the idea of learning and communicating on a digital platform helped me a lot in
developing this current knowledge of the online environment (Beetham & Sharpe, 2013). In
addition to that, the act of solving problems while learning online allowed me to collect
learning and lessons for the future workplace (Broadbent & Poon, 2015). Besides, I learned
many things about myself as an active learner which will impact my future studies largely. In
this context, I found that I am having a positive attitude towards learning new things which
will help me out in future workplace and life. Apart from this, as a creative learner, I learned
that I have the capability to accept as well as learn from criticism about my doings and
personality.

Main Point 3
In this part of PDR, I am going to reflect on my progress towards 1-2 of my unit goals
in terms of my ideas and experiences which have assisted or hindered my progress. In this
context, the unit goal of learning reflective writing and practice reflective learning has been
successfully achieved by me. The other goal of the unit which has been achieved by me was
learning and communicating online. In this way, the above mentioned two unit goals taught
me a lot from the perspective of developing future career and studies. During this unit, I
learned reflective practice and its significance for personal and professional development.
Reflection will allow me to learn by doing in the future which is the ultimate goal of modern
learning technologies and courses (Higgins, Xiao, & Katsipataki, 2012).
I realized that achieving these unit goals will positively greatly influence my future
career and studies. For instance, learning and communicating online will help me out
whenever I will require adding valued subjects and courses into my professional skills as
online learning is vast. I also realized that accomplishing this unit goal of learning and
communicating online will enable me to grab future opportunities related to future studies
and career. In this era, digital learning is one of the tools used by effective and successful
learners (Schölkopf, 2015). Hence, by learning online I could easily save my time and
physical efforts and put them for acquiring value-added skills into my resume. In this way,
these unit goals will be guiding me in future studies as well as career development (Maxwell,
2013).
Main Point 4
Post reflecting on unit goals achievement and their significance for future studies and
career, now I am going to reflect on my progress towards 1-2 course goals. One of the major
course goals was to learn work ethics which can help me during future professional
development. I learned to be motivated as well as dedicated when doing any job. Besides, this
course learning made me realize that I am an active and quick learner which will help me in
future career endeavors. Course learning also taught me how to be optimistic and upbeat all
the time while you working at the workplace. In this way, achieving course goals will help
me out in generating good energy as well as goodwill for accomplishing short-term and long-
term personal development goals. In addition to that, I evolved time management abilities by

prioritizing tasks and working on numerous different assessments at once. I will use these
skills for maintaining balance in work and personal life in the future (Schölkopf, 2015).
As I had to execute some important course tasks and assignments in teams, thus I
learned acting as an efficient team player. Therefore, I learned team harmony and teamwork
spirits. Apart from this, attaining the course goals builds my self-confidence largely and I also
evolved a sense of calm while inspiring confidence within others. My courage and confidence
made me ask questions which freely contribute my ideas from the perspective of future
studies and career development (Schunk, 2012).
Conclusion
In whole, reflecting on personal development resulted from learning into this module
helped me to identify my strengths and weaknesses largely. I learned and developed various
important future work skills on which I have reflected my thoughts and feeling with the help
of this PDR. I have understood how the acquired learning connects previous and upcoming
learning development from both personal and professional perspective. While writing this
PDR, I also learned a way of thinking what, how and why about the learning occurred from
this unit. Besides, this PDR provided an opportunity to acquire self-knowledge and regulating
my learning as well. I am now able to grab the learning by understanding the meaning of
what I have studied within this unit since the beginning of the teaching period. In this way, I
will integrate all lessons and learning acquired from this module during my future studies and
career growth for personal and professional growth.
