INTRODUCTION
Personal development is important because now a days there is high level of
competition in every sector which require development in own self. As in the given situation, I
am a student of business studies and having several skills such as communication, presentation
and using PowerPoint and word (Moser, 2012). But these all need some development in it
because of several modifications. Thus, for this development plan is prepared for 12 to 18
months which assist in personal development.
1) Employment skills
I am a student of business and I have to learn different skills which are required for me
to face interviews and stand out in this competitive world. As an MBA student, it is necessary to
learn soft skills with hard skills because, success is all about personality and skills that a person
is possessing. Skill is referred to the ability of a person to perform certain task with expertise.
Following are some skills that are important for me to develop as a business student:
Communication skill: As a business student, it is necessary for me to know how to and
what to communicate to others. There are different methods and styles of communication that I
can learn and with that I can improve my communication skills with time (Leigh and Blakely,
2016). This is the most powerful ability because communication is required at every step of life
and it is necessary to have effective communication skills.
The communication skill will help me in future if I will conduct any business or work in
any other company. This skill will helps me to communicate with my consumers, Stakeholders,
subordinates, managers in a better manner. If my communication will be better then I can
present my opinions and view points in from of every one.
Presentation skill: It is the ability of an individual to interact with audience by
transmitting the message clearly so that people can understand. Proficient presentation skill are
those when the person giving presentation have the ability to engage audience in their
presentation. As a business students, I should learn how to give effective presentation so that
my message is clear to everyone sitting in audience. Presentation can be made by using
PowerPoint and I should know how to make good presentation as it is necessary for a business
student to know. Presentation skills are helpful in delivering the effective as well as engaging
the presentations to audiences. It is necessary that presentation should be clear and proper
understandable.
For an example- If my presentation skills will be better then I can easily present content
in front of students and understand them about the concept. If I will work in an organisation then

my presentation should be better so that I can easily present my content and information in front
of top management, stakeholders etc.
PowerPoint presentation and word using skills: As I am student of business studies so in
may do regular basis studies there is requirement of PowerPoint presentation and word. So
that, I can make presentations and my other assignment. Not only in studies but in
organisations these two basic IT knowledge is required for explanation any project and also
utilised for documentation purpose.
2) Reflection on development
Skills which is mentioned above need development because these are such things
which is required in daily life of individual person (Geddes, 2017). Modification and latest
technologies are also coming in education sector that must be implemented by me in my routine
activities. There are some skills which need development for being a good business student:
 Communication Skills – Me as business student have to do development in my
communication skills on regular basis because after completion of studies when I will go
for job in cooperate sector; their will be requirement of communication skills. This is
such skills which have ability to present person in both the manner i.e. negative and
positive (Busse, Aboneh and Tefera, 2014). Thus, for development I will talk more and
more people by keeping in mind that It must be in polite manner.
 Presentation Skills – Improvement in this skills will be done by me when I will give more
and more presentations on regular basis related to any topic. Because in cooperate
world any type of project will explain through presentations.
 PowerPoint presentation and word using skills – It will be developed by me when I will
make presentation of daily studies and assignment also by using word and PowerPoint
presentation. Apart from this I can also take coaching of IT (information technology)
skills which will enhance my easily.
3) Area that need development
Skills discussed above need some development in it so that I can gain competitive
advantages in present and future both. PowerPoint and word are modifying because in software
latest version are coming which need some guidance to work on it. MS- Word and PowerPoint
are the two main technical areas which I need to develop because through MS- Word I can write
my content and through PowerPoint I can present my content through including videos and
images. On the other hand, presentation as well as communication skills are more important
and it is necessary to develop these skills and by develop them I can easily communicate as

well as present the required content in a better manner. Thus, there is requirement of
development in the way of utilising PowerPoint and word (Nicholls, 2014). Apart from this there
are two more skills communication and presentation which also need improvement in it because
it is said by some famous personality that first impression is the last. So, mainly development is
that communication must be done in polite and humble voice tone. As well presentation skills
can be improved by giving more and more PowerPoint presentation. This will result in both
using PowerPoint software and presentation skills.
Apart from this, there is an another area also which requires development and it is
business plan making. For business studies student this is major field which require
improvement in it. For doing improvement in such skills I will frame personality development
plan for me.
4) Personal development plan
Personal development plan refers to procedure of developing action plan that depend on
values, goal – setting, planning, awareness and reflection for the personal development in
regards to education, career and for the self- improvement.
Personality development plan for 12-18 months is given below of communication,
presentation and PowerPoint, word using skill (Boud, Keogh and Walker, 2013). In making
respective development plan my teacher and seniors help me a lot and also judging past and
current performance then after how much improvement done by me in it. Below given is
