INTRODUCTION
Personal development plan (PDP) refers to an action plan individual creates in order to
effectively undertake their personal and professional development. PDP is a very valuable tool
for academic and professional purposes. This is because individual can identify and plan what
skills and knowledge individuals require to develop in order to achieve their academic and
professional goals and objectives. My Smart Goals includes-
 Developing oral communication skills within 3 months
 Developing effective research skills within 5 months
 Developing time management skills within 8 months
These are certain goals that I have developed and these goals will help in both academic as well
as in professional life.

Learning style analysis
Learning style analysis refers to identifying and analysing which is the style that individual can
learn with best (Cueva and et.al., 2018). There are mainly styles of learning that are auditory,
visual and kinaesthetic learning style. On the basis of different experiences and observation it
can be said that my learning style is kinaesthetic learning style. In this learning style individuals
learn by doing.

Pest Analysis
Political- Political factors refer to government policies and regulations that affect opportunities.
In opportunities for employment in business management, regulations that are likely to affect is
employment policies and regulations. These policies are favourable for employees and this is
why political environment has positive impact. In addition to this because of political instability
economic environment has affected which is likely to affect job availability in country.

Economic- This involves monetary aspect and management professionals are paid very well.
However this may vary on the basis of skills and abilities of the organisation (Pluchevckaya,
Varlacheva and Andrienko, 2017). Employment rate is also favourable and good and
management professional, but this might get affected by recession.
Socio-cultural- As every profession is looking for innovation and creativity and this attribute is
associated with young age people. This is the reason that young professionals are being
considered for management. Social-cultural environment has positive influence on this
profession and requirement of young-age is an opportunity.
Technological- As technological requirements for every profession is increasing. This
profession is also requiring technological knowledge. Analytical skills are very important in
management profession and this has generated a requirement to learn technology for analytical
activities. Data analytics is an important aspect of this job that is likely to go automated in future
and because of this earlier professional and academic knowledge were required for management
profession. Presently technology knowledge and knowledge of MIS has become important
requirement for this profession.
Motivation
There are several factors that motivate individuals and they are mainly divided on the
basis of Intrinsic motivations and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic is one in which individuals do
not require any kind of external factors to motivate them and extrinsic is one in which external
factors and visible achievements are something that motivates individuals.
Professional and Academic skills relevant to my goals
Every profession involves some of the skills that are specific to that particular profession.
It is very important for individual to possess these skills in order to success in desired
professional career.
Teamwork- This is one of the best skills in which individuals require to work within teams
(LEYVA and et.al., 2018). Teams are created with different purposes and objectives and team-
working skills enable effective coordination and collaboration with other team members. Team-

working also involve effective presentation of thoughts and opinion in teams and ensuring that
teams’ objective is prioritised over individual objective.
Communication- This is another important skill that is required for management profession.
This is because they are required to present organisation in front of every internal and external
stakeholders and because of this communication skill is very important. It is important that
managers and professional in management are having effective communication skills in order to
present their thoughts and opinions effectively and efficiently.
Self-awareness- This is a skill of being aware with individual strengths and weaknesses and this
is also important. This is important for continuous development of individual in which through
regular and continuous learning individuals can achieve advance growth and progress in career
(Driskell, Salas and Driskell, 2018). In order to achieve success in particular profession it is
important that individuals remain aware of what are positive and negative factors of their
personality and also what are their strengths and weaknesses so that they can work on improving
their skills and at the same time can utilise their strengths to best possible way to realise their
goals and objectives.
Time-management- This is another important skill that involves determination of the time that
is required for the purpose of completion of different activities and task. In addition to this, time
management is also important for the purpose of timely achievement of every objective, this is
because timely completion of activities and tasks lead to timely achievement of objectives
(Gregg, 2018). In an profession which involves undertaking multiple activities of varied nature it
is very important to have effective time management.
Networking- This is also an important skill in which individual develops ability to identify right
people and connect with them. This is important in management profession as they require
connecting with several parties and individuals and this requires networking skills for managers.
Elements that are involved in this skill include building relationships, keeping in contact, and
leveraging influential relationships.

How I will develop my skills
Strategies I will use
Participating in workshops and programs for skill development- This is one of the most
important strategies for developing skills. There are several types of programs and workshops
that help students and others to develop their skills. I can also develop my skills by participating
in such workshops and programs (Kaidi and et.al., 2019). In addition to this such programs also
provide certificates which can be utilised for the purpose of referencing.
Learning by doing- As identified my learning style is kinaesthetic and this is why one strategy
that I can use for developing skills is learning by doing. In this style individuals learn when they
undertake practices about the skill that they have developed. This is why it is important strategy
to utilise regarding skill development.
Participating in collaborative learning- Collaborative learning is a very effective strategy in
which individual can not only learn but also master their skills. This involves more than two
people learning together and also supporting each other in process of learning. With help of this
skill individual can effectively learn and develop skills for personal and professional
development and success in academic as well as professional life.
Resources I will access
Books- This is very important resource that is required for development of skills. Books are also
important for the purpose of developing theoretical knowledge relevant to skills.
Journals- Journals are also an important resource when individual seeks to learn skills by means
of gaining theoretical resources and also by those which skills require reading.
Computer and internet availability- In present time internet and computer are very important
resource for knowledge and through this not only theoretical but practical skills can also be
developed (Ren and Chadee, 2017).
Assistance from seniors- There are skills in which skills can be developed by assistance and
support of others. In this there are certain skills that seniors have developed and assistance from
them can be an important resource to access in order to develop skills.

Financial resources- In order to participate in different workshops and also to access internet,
financial resources are very important.
Actions I will take
Spending time for practicing- This involves using more time practicing because it is key to
become master in skills that have been developed.
Testing self- This involves taking self test to identify and understand to what extent individual
has been able to develop skills.
Teaching what has been learnt- This involves teaching others what have been learn in order to
develop clarity of the concept (Novak and et.al., 2020).
CONCLUSION
On the basis of above discussion, it can be summarised that PDP is a very effective tool
for individual development for success in both academic as well as professional life. However it
is very important to identify what are strengths and weaknesses of individual in order to develop
effective PDP.
